heh, Labadze is the only lefty to beat him in over 5 and a half years.

I was just going to mention that - brilliant that Fat Irakli the legend has that achievement all to himself, more than once too (Memphis 03 and IW 04).

Blake took the revenge in the 2nd round qualifying in Roland Garros '05

Nice win for James after such a lacklustre start against Calleri earlier today.

Yet I wish he'd lose already and get some rest; everybody else is losing

Two years ago he had won New Haven (then 6 matches in a route, four of them in three-setters) and reached almost semi-final in New York. Maybe this is better preparation for him instead of refreshment before USO :)

True, and then again last year he had a pretty terrible hardcourt season after winning Indianapolis and it didn't prevent him making the quarters once more at the US Open, so there doesn't seem to be a real correlation there either way.

:yeah:

I made a mistake, I counted walkovers before, but it's actually 23. :)

James is on fire. I believe no one can beat him out of New Heaven.

Only Roger CAN beat him, maybe Djokovic TOO.

But did he start New Haven after a week of continuous tennis at Cincy? Didn't he get several days off to rest for New Haven?

Blake has gone from being a threat to nobody to a player that could on his day beat anyone in the draw other than Federer. I wonder if he's going to have anything left for the end of the USO (QF's and after) if he gets that far.

Two years ago he lost in the 1st round in Cinci, going deep two weeks in a row doesn't seem wise just before his most important slam but what do I know...

Well done by James, winning two matches in the same day. That means he finally won five sets in one day. Woot! Miracles can happen. :rocker2:

Good point but then he lost in the 1st round to... Federer as well, so it's a good omen ;) Anyway he has pretty good draw in NY so I believe he can win here and reaches at least US Open QF once again.

I think on a good day James can beat anyone but Federer imo.

Verdasco looked pissed. Did he not know James had skill when on fire.
