Unbelievable serving display from Ivo :worship:

First serve % was an unstoppable 76% (91% in the 3rd set :speakles: )

28 aces, no break points faced.

Good job Doc :yeah:

Ivo is so close to break Moya's record of most winning tie-breaks in the deciding set. Andreev in this department this year: 1-5 :help:

Another loss in a 3rd set tiebreak from Igor. :( Ivo is practically unbreakable serving like that.

LOL, the return games went by so fast towards the end it was as if they were both preparing for the tiebreak. Once Andreev fell behind at the start of it I doubt he was too bothered about the outcome. He only won 6 points on the Karlovic serve in the first set but managed to win it, just.

The record holds Pim-Pim - 53 aces in one day three years ago in Toronto (30 aces - Carraz, 23 - Saulnier)

Ah, I remember that now - the week that many players had to play twice in one day due to rain. Aussie Pim eventually lost in the quarters to Tojo, with Steve Ulrich having to say the full name every time the games ended, LOL.

It would be interesting to see him on faster indoor courts, where Ljubicic was delivering aces like a sandwiches for breakfast

Yes, so many critics here at this site say all Ivo can do is serve, but he has many strengths which set him apart from the average 6'10" player with huge serve ;)
Ivo has:
1) great fighting spirit (as you point out). 31 matches he's won in 3rd set tie-breaker. He's come back from match point down 7 times I believe (thanks Voo for keeping those stats).
2) the fighting spirit goes hand in hand with great mental strength, and that aspect is constantly improving. He often used to lose to lower ranked players, but now he almost always holds seed and pulls out the tight matches unless he's up against an elite opponent.
3) great volleys
4) strong forehand

He's a top 30 player with top 20 on the horizen

I saw Ivo on the practice courts on Wed.

You wont be believe how hard this man works. His coach was on the service line hitting slice forehands landing short to Ivo's backhand and Ivo was hitting backhands cross court or DTL.

He went at that for a straight hour. Some of them he shanked, but most of the time, it looked cleanly struck. I respect this man's work ethic.

Was he just slicing them back or was he trying to work on his topspin??
