Yep, we will! :worship: History is to be made today! :woohoo:

No problems at all in this tie. Our carpet is way too fast for Monaco players. Balleret tried some nice mixing up yesterday with occasional serve-and-volley attempts, but he didn't look very comfortable at the net. Juska fired down numerous aces, no idea how many, but there were around 2-3 each game. Slice serve in the deuce court was his best shot yesterday for sure :)

A real pity that Lisnard picked up that injury  Hope he gets well soon!

Damn, today is the first day in 4-5 years when I don't attend our home Davis cup matches in arena :( Work, work, work... At least they are showing it live on TV! :yeah:

Gulbis/Pavlovs just lost 1st set to Balleret/Couillard 3:6 (a break of serve at 3:4, Pavlovs service). Very close match so far.

Work on a Saturday? That's a shame.

Come back stronger! Latvia haven't lost a doubles rubber yet this year! :bounce:

Yeah, but we are struggling in Pavlovs' service games today. It was such a tough hold at 1:1 with several breakpoints for Monaco team.

Actually I wouldn't be very upset if Latvia lost today. Sounds odd, but in that occasion Ernests would play one more match tomorrow, and we in Latvia are seeing Ernests' game so seldom that each match he's playing is like a tennis-fest around here :)

3:2 Latvia leading in 2nd set, no breaks yet.

I can see the logic behind that

If you guys win today then Pavlovs and Lejnieks would play tomorrow, I guess?

I think so. Our captain always chooses No 3 and/or No 4 for already decided rubber's matches.

5:4 Latvia leading in 2nd set, no breaks yet, but Monaco is looking slightly better.

Ok, so we won the 2nd set 7:5 :)

We already had 2 BP at 5:4, but they were wasted. Now at 6:5 Monaco guys made 2 UE, 1 DF and we won the set with a looping ball, which Balleret wrongly left.

Is the crowd in the arena very big? :D

seljanin
09-22-2007, 12:50 PM
Surprisingly it's not, and it is quite a puzzle for me. Arena was crowded in april vs Bulgaria, but now there are more empty seets than the occupied ones :/

3rd set: Latvia won 6:3 (broke at 4:3).

Juska def Couillard

seljanin

Lejnieks :yeah: Great play and supereffort! He's made some great progress over the year.

Juška was shaky today. Started off brilliantly - 7 aces in first 2 service games (won a game with a poker of aces at 1:1), but then started to struggle big time and lost his serve at 4:4 and a set with an awful dropshot - the ball didn't even make a net, despite he was standing half a meter from it... The 2nd set... well, I thought he's going to lose, nothing was working: 1st serve was off, Couillard kept constantly slicing the ball back (even with FH), and Andis kept making errors on easy shots. Fortunately he didn't go a break down, despite having to save lots of BPs. And then came the key moment of the match at 3:3 and 30/30 (Couillard serving), when Andis won the point with a beautiful angled backhand winner. From this moment the flow of the match changed, and Andis led us to a whitewash victory :yeah:

Group I :woohoo:
