Quality stuff at the Diamond League meeting in Lausanne.

Three high jumpers over 2.37, best high jump competition I've seen in ages. It was only recently we were calling this event the low jump.

Blake running 9.69 and Bolt still to come in the 200m.

Bolt ran well no clowning in this one and Martina ran well for second in the 200m.

Lausanne has always had a good field the promoter looks after them and for once the weather wasn't too bad.

Shame about the false start for Merritt - lots of talk about him going for the WR.
Has consistently run between 12.92 and 12.94 this year.

According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Athletics_at_the_2004_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Me n%27s_shot_put), this (http://www.coe.es/web/Noticias.nsf/VTodasNoticias/C395FBD507DB99ABC1257B250040184A?opendocument&query=noti1) says the 2004 shot put Olympic medals are now reallocated.

Adam Nelson became the gold medalist, Joachim Olsen the silver medalist, and Manuel Martinez the bronze medalist. Too bad Nelson became winner and Martinez a medalist over eight years after the competition.

Kind of sad that once Olympics returned to Olympia, both men's and women's shot put had doping cases, originally 1st and 4th positioned female shot putters were also caught doping. Will be interesting if they'll give the women's bronze to Nadzeya Astapchuk, caught doping in last summer's OG, and doping was also found in her 2005 Worlds sample where she won.

Quite disgraceful.

Ivan Tsikhan got his bronze in 2008 reinstated and then loses his medal from 2004. Devyatovskiy finished 4th in 2004 and he got his silver reinstated in 2008 as well.

Assuming they'll find doping from their 2007 Worlds samples, a logical thing would be them finally losing the 2008 Olympic medals because they would've been in a competition ban then.

Olympic and World Champion Veronica Campbell-Brown has been reported to get caught from the use of diuretics, banned medicine because of its use to hide the use of PEDs.

Not good publicity for Jamaican sprinters, Dominique Blake, a member of the Jamaican Olympic team had just been given a six-year ban from doping. And let's not forget relay World Champ Steve Mullings who got a lifetime ban two years ago. And Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has also had her own doping case.

a German tv station sent their doping experts (the journalists that are experts on doping) already several years ago to Jamaica and showed how easy it is there to dope. So it isn't astonishing at all to see many Jamaicans being caught.

Doping cases among US and Jamaican sprinters. I don't believe there are any clean sprinters in 100/200m Olympic/Worlds finals.

Same here. I actually think that anyone who wins a medal in Track & Field is probably juiced. No matter the discipline.

I just received my first ever warning on a message board for stating the obvious.

Anyways, I just wanted to repost the confirmation that Asafa Powell, Nesta Carter and Sherone Simpson have all failed doping tests: http://albertostrettithings.tumblr.com/post/55436096834/some-names-of-jamaicans

The Worlds started today. I must say men's 100m & 200m are just as interesting as the clay season. An interesting battle for becoming the runner-up.

Also, some doping news:

As Russia won the medal table, it was the 4th time at the Worlds when USA didn't win it. Last time was in 2001.

I really miss the days about ten years ago when USA dominated the sprint events and had so many great shot putters like Nelson and Godina. I really became a USAtard in athletics in those years. Unfortunately some of the great US athletes, like Marion Jones and Tim Montgomery, were dopers.

But unfortunately USA can't anymore win gold medals in 100/200m, Jamaicans are too good. Or too well doped, Powell, Simpson, and Campbell-Brown were caught. I started to think about Powell's lack of a major gold medal. He seemed like a headcase in finals but maybe he was afraid of testing at the major championships.
