What did Niemeyer say before the match?

in this article (http://www.cyberpresse.ca/article/20070808/CPTRIBUNE/70808008/5255/CPSPORTS)

and here (http://www.rogerscupmen.com/2/fr/draws/interviews/niemeyer.asp) you have the interviews.

"I was surprised by the quality of the Ancic's play I knew that he was a good player, but I did not believe that he would leave a match like this on his return . I had suffered with his service during all the match because it is very difficult to read: he always uses the same dash, but it is very precise and it varies much its choices.”

sorry but I don't have time to translate it

From here (http://www.newstimeslive.com/news/story.php?id=1186569110&source=tabbox):

A day after granting rising American John Isner a wild card, Worcester took a chance on Donald Young, an 18-year-old American ranked No. 232, on Thursday.

Young, who captured the Wimbledon Junior Championship this summer, was granted a wild card along with American veteran Mardy Fish, who's ranked No. 51.

"Isner and Young are big American rising stars, and Mardy's a tour veteran who's been here before," Worcester said. "There was a lot of attention around Young this winter. He's definitely somebody the USTA has on the fast track for development."

The fourth men's wild card will be handed out today to either No. 15 David Ferrer, No. 25 Juan Monaco, No. 26 Dmitry Tursunov or Nicolas Kiefer, a former top-five player.

American Sam Querrey, ranked No. 65 who will play in the quarterfinals today in Cincinnati, has asked not to be considered for the final wild card.

"It's going to be very interesting to determine who will get that wild card," Worcester said. "The results from the past few weeks will certainly be a factor."

Former top-10 player Mario Ancic, who missed six months due to mononucleosis, and former Fairfield Prep star Todd Paul will try to gain entry into the main draw through qualifying rounds, which begin today.

the old Igor, like almost all Russians, has not bad returns. If today they played on carpet, Mario would lose in 2. God bless that is on hard outdoor :aplot:

That did be what I worried... still slow start but it does mean that he needs to pay more to get the win, Q there needs 3 matches to win while sometimes Q matches are even more difficult than the 1st round of MD... at some points it equals to a bet, bet on himself :p

Hi there. I spoke to Mario very briefly at the airport yesterday. He said he was feeling good, and that he was headed off to New Haven to 'get more matches.' I didn't realize when he said that to me that he meant he would play qualifying. I told him that I was glad he was back on tour and wished him luck at the US Open. He was very pleasant, kind of soft spoken. It was nice speaking to him. :)

I am afraid your friend was right  I found out on court Mario needed longer time to do his serve. Many things looked kinda slower than before, more tend to happen on practice court. Especially when his opponent was fast, he had so few things to do

Well, strange and quite confused feelings... First it was so strange to see him in the qualies draw  , and then a little disappointing to see the 1st rd loss to Wawrinka :awww: But on the other hand, I'm still glad to see him win a few matches, even though it's "only" qualies, and just be back, which is already quite awesome in a way, thinking of what he's gone through the past six months :)
And I agree with you girls, it might take him a bit of time to be 100% again, to get the rhythm back and everything... so waiting -with confidence  - for bigger wins! ;)

Croatia's Mario Ancic has pulled out of the US Open with a shoulder injury and is unlikely to play in next month's Davis Cup tie against Great Britain.

Former world number seven Ancic had only just returned to action after a six-month lay-off with glandular fever.

"There's a big question mark on the Davis Cup," said Ancic. "At this moment if I had to say, it's more no than yes.

"That would be a huge disappointment because two tournaments I really thought I could play, after six months out, was the US Open and Davis Cup. That was really the goal."
