Becker thought that winning the Saretta match was more important for Hewitt than winning the Haas match? What is he smoking?
nothing at all, he was absolutely serious about that

it was a much tougher match over more than 2hours and 30minuntes on an outside court and Saretta provided quite more of a "wall" for Lleyton as Tommy ever could at any stage in his match against Lleyton!

Oh the National Zoo is so wonderful!! How lucky to live near it :)

Yeah, I try to take a walk through the Zoo most weekends. I worked with a guy who lived in an building right next to the Zoo, and he could hear the lions roaring when his windows were open. I'm not sure I'd like to wake up to that! :D

omg no I would not like to wake up to lions roaring, that's a little *too* close for comfort LOL! But that would be so cool to walk through the zoo every weekend :) I just remember the zoo when I was 12 and they only gave us like an hour to go through the whole thing and I was so mad!

ummmmmm Guille let's wake up ok? :)

Those are all good points, but it's Lleyton's climbing back into the second set from 1-5 that does it for me. Shows his mental toughness (his greatest asset) is there.

johnny

he should still beat ferrer

true, but I agree with Becker in that point that it is better if Lleyton wins against a player who is making it tough for him, making him the ball hitting several times than coming back against Haas who was out of order and lost patience too early.

Lleyton didn't see a quarterfinal TMS for quite a long time now, so I guess such a win to go even deeper against a "difficult" opponent really means something.

Alright Johnny, just went big on Federer and left the rest. Hewitt has let me down so many times in the past. As for Coria, his form in this tournament scared me but looks like he's having no problems today. I also reckon Ljubicic should come through too.

The best thing for me about Lleyton's win against Saretta is that (so I hear from a friend of mine who follows all the Brazilian players) Flavio has those shoulder-high topspin groundies that Lleyton has trouble getting back. He needs wins against that kind of player for RG.

I am a bit a wizard if I do say so! I picked Melzer to beat Safin and Ferrer to beat Costa yesterday! But I also choose Verdasco to beat Moya :( - which was close!

On stats alone I would say Ljubucic to win. But has anyone seen how they are both playing? Who is playing better?

Fin090
05-14-2004, 03:49 PM
I'd go with Ljubicic mate, he beat pavel in straights and Pavel was in superb form.

Tennis is good to bet on - you have a 1 in two chance of winning regardless of the players!

johnny

coria breaks *2-1

Fin090
05-14-2004, 03:55 PM
He looks for value and I dare say his picks are tons better than yours. Just scroll down the page and look at how much he makes each year. Some bookies suspend tennis betting when his picks come out so they can readjust odds, apparently he has a huge following who go with his plays every day.

elroyf
05-14-2004, 03:57 PM
I can pick value - I got melzer and ferrer right yesterday. Their odds were GOOD!

I think I will go for Ivan to win!

johnny
05-14-2004, 03:59 PM
its a nice site fin090. will have a look how he does over the next few weeks.
i can't beleive he didn't have any picks for today, as I think today was the best opportunity all week. federer, hewitt offered good value and coria was pretty safe.
but i will watch his picks and see if he is worth following.
how is your betting doing this week? i've had my best week. 9 wins 2 losses.

johnny
05-14-2004, 03:59 PM
by the way, someone was betting on maursemo as well. she is 3-0 up and killing her opponent :)

Fin090
05-14-2004, 04:01 PM
Yeah but he's like a professional gambler I think and they likes to be have a disciplined staking strategy to minimise losses. To make any money on federer or Hewitt or Coria you have to bet big and he obviously doesn't feel the risk is worthwhile. If you look at his picks I don't think he's ever backed an odd on selection, only occasionally in accumulators.

johnny
05-14-2004, 04:03 PM
i doubt I will follow him then. all my bets tend to be odds-on.

I don't bet that much but just an example.

Roger still has to get through Lleyton, someone who does know how to beat him (though on clay it would seem less likely). But if Lleyton's fire is really back as Neely was describing today, it could be very interesting tomorrow.

I'll be ready for this match tomorrow... as Hewitt and Federer met this year at the AO the signs looked pretty good for Lleyton again, very positive h2h against Federer, good form with tournament win in Sydney, but Federer dominated this match and nobody could stop him in this tournament!

maybe tomorrow, Lleyton can do better if he is NOT playing in front of homecrowd... I will be ready for match tomorrow and I hope it will be a good one.

Brilliant Ivan! Brilliant!

Ivan wins (4-6,7-5,6-1) but he'll get cained tomorrow by Coria!

Also, Federer will beat Hewitt (My two tips!)
