So I figured we shouldn't clog up the chat thread with zee Potter talk and we needed a thread anyway since the movie comes out in 3 hours 20 minutes (:p) so here we go! =D

All Harry Potter discussion (involving previous books, the movies, recent OoTP movie and your review of it, the actors, and Death Hallows, etc) here please :bounce:

I start off with *omfg* my icon :woohoo:

edit: Ok I just want to make it official that I would like no rumors, such as bets and just random things, going around to be posted in here (no one has done it yet thankfully but who knows if someone from somewhere else won't do it?). Cause I remember last time there were sites everywhere that said Dumbledore was going to die and it somewhat ruined it for me since I didn't think he was going to even though I didn't believe the site. I know most of us in here already agreed that no one wanted to know anything about the book, but this is just in case. If anything is said by JKR or her editors, that's fine as long as it's not spoilery for the rest of us. Just...no speculation and rumors from outside sources. Own opinions are fine (: Thanksssss :wavey:

Great idea, Mani!!! :D
I think we should maybe start another thread for the finished readers of the Deathly Hallows (when it comes out of course) so that there's no chance of spoiling the ending for anyone??

I might be seeing the movie today! WOOHOOOOOOOOO

Deboogle!.
07-11-2007, 12:55 AM
People who don't want to know about the new book can do what those of us on the US west coast do with the TV threads - avoid the thread until they're ready. :p

I was thinking we'd just keep this thread but have spoiler warnings in the title so everyone knows (:

I want to go to the midnight showing for it tonight :bigcry: But my stupid brother is at work at Rutgers :( I can't wait for the last movie...I should be in college when it comes out

 My friends and I were going to go to the night session and dress-up but alas, not this time.
This thread ain't gonna be getting much action on the 21st July! We'll all be holed up away from possible spoilers reading like mad. CANNOT WAITTT.

knight_ley
07-11-2007, 01:28 AM
Yea just keep everything in this thread. And once the new book's out, anyone not wanting spoilers or still reading the new book can just avoid this thread. :)

I'm getting so amped up for everything HP-related.

I've decided to re-read the second book, because I haven't read them in a while and she said all the answers to the series are in the second book. Including all the horcruxes. I want to investigate.

did anyone see daniel radcliffe on jay leno last night?

YES. Holy crap cutest thing ever. When the tv surprised him like that :rolls:

Random story about how obsessed I was (am): I started a journal to analyze and predict the books with my bff when we were like 13. And we got all those prediction books.

Also: I was in Spain for the release of the 5th book, so I bought two online and had one sent to my grandma and the other to my aunt, who were both supposed to send it to me in Spain, but we found an English copy there (the British version) so now I have three OoTP's.  :o

That was like therapy for me to admit that.

I am a bad Potter fan. I forget loads of stuff once I've read the books and because I don't like the films I have nothing to remind me quickly! :sobbing: I usually just remember the main plot lines and stuff. :o

So I just finished the 5th book. I bawled like a little baby  Why couldn't anyone have told Harry the reason he needed to learn Occlumency or why couldn't Harry have opened that stupid mirror that Sirius gave him after Christmas? I just don't want my Sirius dead :sobbing: I still somewhat refuse to believe it because that veil is still there!

But question: Did they ever clear Sirius' name in the books? I don't remember if they did in the 6th one, I'm going to start that now after I clean and cook, but in the 5th one how did Nearly Headless Nick know that Sirius died? Does everyone know because Ginny, Neville, or Luna might have told someone? Hmm..

Hon.....R/Hr just makes sense!! I will never ever be able to make sense of H/Hr. Sorry.
:ras: No it doesn't! I'm sorry I do not think they are compatible *crosses arms* I'm very stubborn on this, you know that

i don't think they ever did outright preetster  BUT!!! cornelius fudge did mention to the british PM when he visited him to introduce the new minister for magic that "it turned out we had the wrong man" or something when the PM quizzed him about sirius. so I guess they did. :D :bounce:
See, that's in the 6th book. I haven't gotten there yet lol. But like...does the public know as well? And how and why did Fudge finally realize that Sirius was innocent...did he finally take Dumbledore's word or was there evidence or does whoever falls through the veil get recorded somewhere that they died, I don't know lol. I was always curious as to if anyone knew, other than the Order and some professors, that Sirius was an innocent man and Harry's godfather.

and oh, your rep :ras: :ras:

I'm at like 89% that Snape isn't evil. But I need to reread the 6th book first, and then I'll tell you if that percentage goes higher (;

There is only one way I will loathe the seventh book, and if it's the ending is happy-go-lucky. I feel like if she would turn around and be all like "And they lived happily ever after" that she cheated us and underestimated our investment in the books. I mean, obv I don't want any of the trio to die or anything, but I would feel cheated if the series ends in a meadow full of marigolds.

Carole :/ Of course things are missing from the movie...it's a 800+ page book. Honestly, I'd love nothing more than a 4 hour Harry Potter movie that covered the whole thing, but sadly we ain't gonna get that ): But was a lot really missing from it? ):

Jo doesn't seem like the person who'll make it superly happy, given the past 2 books which were considerably darker than usual. But yeah, I also hope it's not happy. Actually I'd be ok if Harry died. Ok I just want to make it official that I would like no rumors, such as bets and just random things, going around to be posted in here (no one has done it yet thankfully but who knows if someone from somewhere else won't do it?). I CANNOT PUT INTO WORDS HOW EXCITED I AM ABOUT SATURDAY. I am seriously about to freak out.

My friends and I are doing something fun- we're each going to write down what we think will happen and then put it in a sealed envelope. When we've all read the book, we'll open the envelope and see if any of us were remotely right and will laugh at how wrong some of us were.

Ahhh I think I'll go and re-read the sixth book, J.K said that the seventh picks up from where the sixth left off so I don't want to be rusty :p

Btw 2: you guys knows that JK was taking care of this new movie of HP (number 5) so..... the director said that she changed some scenes 'cause she already knew the end (duhh! of course, she's the freaking writer!) so I was really paying attention to movie...to any scene that wasn't supose to be there
and....close to the final Luna says (wheh she's looking for her missing stuffs): "My mother always said that when you lose something things always find a way to cameback for you, even if not in a proper way" (or something really close to this....the meaning is the same)

which got me thinking...."would that be a clue fro JK?"
I thought that because of that.....means that Sirius is actually not dead?
of course that maybe I'm just getting overexcited :haha: :tape:

My friend bought one for give me, he's from England...but, once that England has a shit of a mail will take too long for come here so I will probably know the final before the book arrive here :help:

So once that I couldn't take that...I made my reservation of the same book on a book story here  :tape:

for me I will get the book friday at 8pm (once that will mean 0am of July 21 on UK)

well you see, about sirius not being dead, they kind of messed it up in the movie because bellatrix did the avada kedavra curse on him right before he went through the veil, while in the book she did another spell that just pushed him back.

and dumbledore said there's no spell to reawaken the dead ):.

but maybe it's dumbledore, even if j.k. said he was dead, maybe he'll come back as a rock or something |X or maybe he's in fawkes |X.

omg guys I am freaking excited. I blew off my friend to go shooting on saturday because I get the book on saturday |X.

on the end of the 6th book Dumby goes to the a picture on the headmaster room
is not possible to just to him as he used to do with the others formers headmasters??

JK better come up with good endings for all those questions

I CANNOT PUT INTO WORDS HOW EXCITED I AM ABOUT SATURDAY. I am seriously about to freak out.

My friends and I are doing something fun- we're each going to write down what we think will happen and then put it in a sealed envelope. When we've all read the book, we'll open the envelope and see if any of us were remotely right and will laugh at how wrong some of us were.
 That's a cute idea! I wanna hear your thoughts about the book too :p

 I said that to my friend at the end of the film yesterday too and he just hit me on the head :sobbing: I just love Sirius, i just want him to come back even if it has no chance of happening ;) When we went to see it, the cinema had two screens showing it at the same time, and we got there in the middle of trailers so we got put in the 2nd one where there were only two other people  WE sat in the screen for like a half hour after the fillm ended talking about what will happen in the 7th :tape:

I think this is the last book in the harry potter series because from the beginning it was always going to be 7. She did say that if she did write something in the harry potter series, it was going to be like an encyclopedia. But as far as harry's adventures goes, it's the last one. ):

So I just realized this morning that we're all going to get the book at different times :haha: All the US people are going to have it in 1 day and 8 hrs (well that's when it's midnight on the east coast. West coast is going to be 1 day and 11 hours right?)...when is everyone else getting their copy? Cause I need to know when I should start avoiding this thread and put *spoiler warning* in the title lmao.

andyroxmysox12191
07-19-2007, 07:46 PM
And can I say that it just really bothers me that all these spoilers are going around and people are completely ruining the 7th book? One of my best friends just told me that 2 kids read the ending of the book online (cause it is online I think) and told her. Emerson, from mugglenet, also said that the couple pages he looked over online looked pretty authentic. And apparently NY Times published a review on DH cause they got it early when they shouldn't have :retard:

Does nobody realize how upset fans get when they find out the ending of the book that they've been waiting 2 to 10 years for?

Like I don't care if the spoilers aren't even real, it's just so frustrating and annoying.

I think I read through the book at a good pace. It wasn't as quick as the 6th book because I wanted to enjoy it because when reading the 6th, I didn't like it that much the first time around.

I had to reread that part of the story a couple times...I was so confused lol. It was a bit quick, but I loved the taunting Harry did by calling Voldy Tom and Riddle.

I agree. The other books I read a lot faster but I missed a lot. This one I made sure not to read too fast so that I didn't miss anything.

I had to re-read the part where Harry killed Voldemort too like three times. At first I thought Draco killed him. Than I thought someone killed Draco and then i realized what happened. See Draco's name right before it all went down got in mmy head a little.

I thought Voldemort's death was done the only way she could write it, Harry basically had to time it just right and Voldy had to basically kill himself. I figured it would be a very public event to expose Tom Riddle once and for all. The epilogue was sweet, kind of cheesy, a bit confusing (I read parts of it twice to get the children all figured out), but it left more questions than answers (what does Harry do now and who raised Teddy?).

It was so great to have Dobby come back, and so horrible to lose him ten minutes later. He was so funny as a free elf. His burial was the most emotional scene in the whole book for me, and I was also struck by the deaths of Tonks and Remus (thought of baby Teddy right away).

I'll read it again too, in a couple of weeks, and really enjoy it this time.

Can I just share that I feel emotionally drained. I finished rereading book 5 on Friday, book 6 on Saturday and book 7 today. I think I need some time to take it all in, but I was glad the way things turned out with Snape's story.

I think I'll go outside for a bit and remind myself what sunlight is

So I have a question.

What's the scene on the front cover of the US edition? I still don't get it.

lol I don't know, perhaps the last meeting of voldemort and harry mani? or it could just not have been a scene in the book at all, just a cover?
