Doesn't look like it. The schedule for tomorrow isn't up, but today's matches have "cancelled" on them on the USO site instead of suspended. But, I don't think any official word yet.

Congratulates Jelena! :bigclap:

JJ may not have won the title, but that was a great final. :inlove: She played very well, much better than I thought she would for her first final. Very high quality match IMO. Serena was just too good when it counted. But JJ fought until the end. For the first time I truly think she can win a slam. Keep it up, JJ! :yeah:

Jankovic says her time will come

Tue Sep 16, 2008
By Alastair Himmer

TOKYO (Reuters) - The scars of her U.S. Open final defeat by Serena Williams barely healed, Serbian Jelena Jankovic insists grand slam glory for her is only a matter of time.

"I've been up there with Serena. I know what to do to beat her," the world number two told Reuters on Tuesday. "Next time. It's not my last grand slam. My time will come."

Jankovic refused to dwell on what might have been after her 6-4 7-5 loss in New York this month, promising the experience would make her a better player.

"I had a lot of opportunities to beat her," the 23-year-old said before this week's Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo. "Obviously it was disappointing but when I look back it was a great two weeks. It was a great learning experience.

"My goal is to win grand slams," added Jankovic, who briefly held the world number one ranking before surrendering top spot to Williams after the U.S. Open.

"I have been number one. That's something nobody can ever take away from me. It will stay in my biography for the rest of my life. But now I want to take the next step.

"Now I have the experience of playing in a grand slam final and I know what to expect."

Jankovic, the top seed at the Pan Pacific Open, where six of the world's top 10 are playing, said her main problem was jet-lag after arriving in Tokyo from Florida.

"It's not easy to adjust," she said. "It's about 13 hours time difference. I'm waking up so early. But the most important thing is that I'm healthy and injury-free, knock on wood."

Jankovic will retake top spot in the rankings with a strong showing in Tokyo, but was quick to praise Williams for her return to the top of the women's game.

"She's a great champion," said Jankovic, also currently second behind American Williams in the season's championship race on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour.

"You never know what to expect from her but she's a great athlete. When she and (sister) Venus are at their best it's very hard to compete against them.

"Naturally they are just physically stronger than 99 percent of the girls. Nothing falls from the sky. You have to work harder than anyone else if you want to be the best and that's what I'm trying to do."

Drama Queen: Jankovic film opens in Serbia

By Sarah Alvanipour

http://tennis.com/uploadedImages/Backcourt/General/2008_11_20_jankovic_article.jpg

World No. 1 Jelena Jankovic, known for being one of the more emotive players on tour, is now taking her theatrics off-court – and to the big screen.

Already a fixture on Serbian television, the 23-year-old can now be seen in Jelena’s World, a new biographical documentary. The film chronicles Jankovic’s rise to tennis stardom.

The project came about when director Tanja Brzakovic, who had seen Jankovic play, approached her and “took an interest [in making the documentary],” Alastair Garland, Jankovic’s agent, told TENNIS.com.

“I am fascinated, above all, by Jelena's energy and her being a real fighter: even when it seems a match is lost, she never gives up,” Brzakovic said in Blic, a daily newspaper in Belgrade.

The 80-minute film was shot over the course of a year, starting last November at the Sony Ericsson Championships in Madrid and ending in Belgrade, just before Jankovic headed to the 2008 season-ending championships in Doha, Qatar.

Garland said that the film focuses at Jankovic’s life off the court, examining the “person behind the player.”

“She had a great time doing it. The key was for it not to interfere with her tennis and she is happy with the end result,” Garland said. “In the future she is interested in acting [so] this was a nice stepping stone for her, as she got to spend a lot of time in front of the camera and off the tennis court.”

Jelena’s World, which was released in Serbia in November, has been well received by both critics and fans alike, with strong early box office sales. Representatives of Talas Film, which produced the movie, say they hope to distribute it worldwide.

Jankovic, meanwhile, was present for the film’s Nov. 12 premiere in Belgrade. The following day, she appeared in a fashion show, modeling a new clothing line she helped design for Serbian label Mona.

“That’s just a hobby, and I really love designing. I do it in between tournaments or even during them if I have some free time,” she said.

She has also been busy taping a new commercial for Aqua Viva Hydroactive water.

But as the 2009 season approaches, Jankovic’s on-court focus will likely be on retaining her No. 1 ranking, and winning a first career Grand Slam title. If the aspiring actress manages that kind of on-court success, maybe she’ll start filming a sequel.

On JJ's official site she explained why she hasn't been playing all too well this year.

20.03.2009.

To my dear fans,

Firstly, I want to apologize for not writing in so long. I've had some problems in the family and haven't been playing my best, so I've been quite preoccupied. I'm happy to write to you all again now, though, and tell you what's going on.

I haven't started the year like I wanted to. As you can all see, I haven't been playing well at all. I'm struggling with my game, most importantly my reactions and speed. I feel quite heavy on the court. I'm getting to my shots late, and I'm never in the right place.. At this level, at the top of the women's game, you need this. It has been my biggest weapon in the past, too. Even when my shots weren't working I always had my legs, and I've won many matches because I've moved and competed well. It was always my Plan B, and it's not there anymore. I've lost it now. I'm just trying to find it again.

My preparation in the off-season was different this year, and I don't think the change has worked out for me. These weren't the results I expected. Especially after ending last year so well, my goal this year was to start dominating women's tennis. I wanted to be even better in 2009. I feel like I've gone down a few levels. My whole game is suffering, and I've lost my confidence. I'm making changes, like I'll be working with a new fitness coach. I hope to find my game again soon. I'm staying positive. I need to keep growing and working hard, and keep my head up high even though it's not so easy sometimes.

I'm here in Indian Wells with my mom, who hasn't been feeling so well. She's struggling with some health problems. I'm really worried about her. That also affects my tennis, because I'm so close to her and the last few nights I haven't slept many hours. If she needs something, I want to be right there with her. As a tennis player you go through a crisis now and then with your game, but it's just a game, and at the end of the day there are more important things: the people who are close to you, the ones you love a lot. I just hope she gets better, that's what I care about most in this moment. My game can come together sooner or later, hopefully. It can be hard to talk about these things... hopefully you can all understand.

I'm leaving for Miami soon and will write to you from there next week. I hope things will start to change for the better. Many people have been asking me why I haven't been smiling on the court lately. All I can say is, hopefully you'll see the smile back very soon

Hopefully you're all doing well. Take care and a big hug to all of you.

Jelena

She was up a break in 2nd set and failed to serve it out then had a minibreak in TB and still lost her chance again? I can't say she would win or not in 3rd set but should stretch this to 3rd. Just speechless. :sobbing:

She's really worried about her , stays awake next to her during nights....so it's logical she can't focus on court.

Yes - there are many things that transcend tennis - and family is the most important of those. Having been through it myself, I can only sympathise with Jelena, and hope she finds the strength to get through it, and that things get better.

So sad about Jelena. I think it's more a confidence problem on court but of course her mum is also a factor.
I was watching the scoreboard and can't believe she blew a 5-2 lead in the 2nd set and then blew another 5-2 lead in tie-break. It's her "can't serve and close things out" problem all over again.
But anyway, she at least hit the #1 spot before dissolving. Dinara Safina is already dissolving while trying to get there. She's 1-6 first set to Stosur now.

I think Jelena just want to have some fun. She's drama queen afterall  and even though it is a ridiculous combination and she didn't even wash her sweaty body, she pleased the Spanish people by trying out their culture.

JJ lost in 1R of Eastbourne to Chakvetadze. This is what she said after the match:

http://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/argusgeneralsportsnews/4441834.Jankovic_left_to_ponder_futurre/

Jankovic admitted she is lacking motivation following her 6-7, 6-3, 6-2 defeat to Anna Chakvetadze at Eastbourne.
The 24-year-old has struggled since topping the world rankings last year and is contemplating some time out after Wimbledon next week. The world No. 6 said: “I am missing a bit of the motivation I had before. When you have been No. 1 in the world it is not so easy. It is a constant battle against yourself. You need to be disciplined so that when you want to eat chocolate you say no to yourself. You have to force yourself to go out and practise for four or five hours a day. For that you need to be strong. There is lots of playing and travelling and that is not easy. Every player has their ups and downs but when you are not doing well those are the times you need to work hard and come out of it stronger."

“I need a break and maybe not playing for a little bit will get me to the point where I want to play tennis again and want to run after those balls because that is missing at the moment. I will play Wimbledon and then after that we will see what I will do.”

JELENA JANKOVIC: Conditions were quite tough. It was very warm out there. But that was not, you know, my problem. After the first set, I felt really dizzy, and I thought that I was just gonna end up in the hospital. I started to shake. I was losing my ‑ how you say ‑ consciousness.

I didn't know. I was really gonna lose it, you know, to fall down and just, you know, probably go ‑‑ call the ambulance and leave the court. But I came back. Like I started to feel a little bit better.

But, you know, I was feeling quite weak. No power. I wasn't the same player. You know, I didn't have the power in the shots. I felt really tired and exhausted out there. It was very difficult for me to play in these kind of circumstances. That made me, as well, quite nervous.

Q. Do you think it was heat stroke or dehydration or what?

JELENA JANKOVIC: I don't know. It's as well some woman problems, as well. It's not easy being a woman, you know, sometimes. All these things happen. What can I do? I tried my best.

JJ looks thinner now after Wimbledon.

I watched her match vs Dementieva live. It consists of some good shots but mostly errors, but it's a highly dramatic match.
JJ won 7-6(2) 0-6 7-6(6) :rolls:
JJ produced 8 DFs and Lena whacked a total of 17! :tape: :bolt:
They broke each other 15 times.
At *5-4, 40-0, 3rd set, JJ wasted 3 MPs with Lena winning 5 points in a row
They kept exchanging breaks until it's TB :haha:
And Lena squandered 4 MPs at 6-2 in the TB. JJ won the TB 8-6 in the end  :tape:
They both looked demented during and after the match that I can't stop laughing :rolls:
JJ should have no chance against Dinara today, but ajde JJ anyway :rocker2:

Yeah, the match was definitely what many people consider a "typical" WTA match! High drama mixed in with the occasional good tennis. 7 straight breaks leading to the final TB!

Dinara is definitely the heavy favorite today, but Ajde JJ! :rocker2:

Ajde JJ:rocker2::bounce:
It's never boring. The level of tennis may not be consistently high but WTA has more upsets, dramas and personalities imo. It's entertaining in other ways. I watch ATP more than WTA only because Novak's my favorite player among ATP and WTA and that there's more ATP coverage.

To me, JJ was the more aggressive player out there but simply it didn't work today. :tape:

Honestly the draw couldn't be any kinder than this for her, and then her game is totally off at the moment. :o Though she still has a decent chance to make SF, I think.

Obviously they made a bad decision like getting muscles but he was the one who took her to the No.1 spot. And again as far as I know, she trained with other coach for her serve in June.
