I KNEW I wasn't going to like the shortened entry list when it came out. Not that there aren't plenty of guys left for me to root for, but I hate to think of all my players who would have just made into the main draw who now might have to play the qualies...or worse, won't play at all.

Still, good to have a list to work from...only a month to go!

Monfils didn't get robbed of anything. He didn't even enter the qualifying draw, so who can say if he even requested a wild card.

Ginepri's wild card may be given to someone else, he was only 4 out of the main draw and could end up getting in anyway.

Wawrinka is worth watching, hits a very good backhand, a bit stiff though in his movement. He should be in the MD as should Karlovic.

Who from the list haven't you seen? You could always watch Verdasco and see how well the guy hits the ball, but how little tennis brain he has.

Verdasco is one guy i know will be fun watching courtside no matter what. Ive seen most of the top guys play so ill stay away from center court unless Ljubo is playing there. Plus i am more interested in the lower ranked guys and i know there will be some great matches on the smaller courts. Of course i also must watch Roddick so i can cheer for his opponent :)

Good that makes it a bit easier and I was looking through the qualies list, but if these guys Seppi, Tsonga and Korolev get through they could be interesting to watch for different reasons.

Flo Mayer needs to be seen live, cause of the unorthodox strokes, the 2 handed jump drop shots, the huge forehand swing that generates little power and seeing a 6'4 guy with a 112km/h second serve has comedy potential. You can always see your mate Almagro. :)

Cheering against Roddick and Ginepri is compulsory.

08-10-2007, 08:21 PM
Doesn't the Cincinnati main draw come out before the Nadal vs. Dancevic match takes place?

If so, then surely Dancevic will claim the SE spot, as the draw will have to be made with 1 potentially available for him if he does win his match with Nadal. If he wins, then he gets the spot, if he loses, then it will go to a LL...

Or have I got this totally wrong???

Doesn't the Cincinnati main draw come out before the Nadal vs. Dancevic match takes place? It is scheduled to, but during the first three weeks of the USOS the main draw was postponed because of unresolved special exempt spots. If so, then surely Dancevic will claim the SE spot, as the draw will have to be made with 1 potentially available for him if he does win his match with Nadal. If he wins, then he gets the spot, if he loses, then it will go to a LL...

Or have I got this totally wrong???If the Cincinnati main draw is completed before the Saturday order of play is determined, then an extra space will be left in the draw. If Dancevic is scheduled to play on Saturday (either by winning his quarterfinal on Friday night or having his match postponed by rain) he will claim the spot. Otherwise, the spot will be filled by next player on the main draw alternate list at the time the draw was made (currently Karlovic). If that player is in the qualifying draw, then he will be replaced in the qualifying draw by an alternate. [Dancevic should be familiar with the policy as the same scenario occurred in Indianapolis. An extra space was left in the main draw due to unresolved special exempts and Dancevic eventually filled that space since he was the next player on the main draw alternate list.]

Yeah, I found it in an article. He was too late for the qualies sign in since he was still playing and since he didn't win he won't get the SE. His next tournament will be US Open qualies.
