Hey all :D

For those of you out there wanting to go to the Ordina Open (or the Hastings Direct Championships in Eastbourne or the Samsung Open in Nottingham) and you want to know what players you can expect there, this thread will come in handy. I usually go to the qualifying rounds at least one day and I always want to know what players I can expect there that day, practising that means. Therefore you need to know how the players on the commitment list are doing in the tournament before that. Check out the lists below :) I hope they come in handy!

Important notes and comments:

- A lot of players are on the qualifying list for Eastbourne, but are on the list of alternates for Rosmalen too. Go to http://www.wtaworld.com and go to the upcoming tournament sections to find these lists. There you can also find the qualifying list for the DFS Classic in Birmingham, Great Britain.
- Kim Clijsters and Justine Hénin-Hardenne are probably going to commit to play in Rosmalen, The Netherlands.
- The Ordina Open, Rosmalen, The Netherlands is the only tournament out of these three to not have a qualifying tournament.

So this means J.C. Ferrero won't play the Ordina Open...?

Snoopy_Girl
05-02-2004, 06:14 PM
He never did in the past, so I don't think he will this year. Usually takes that week of to prepare as good as he can for Wimbledon. Certainly since grass is not his fave surface.
I would like to see him in Rosmalen, but I wouldn't count on it!

JuanChuffy, Snoopy is right. It's most unlikely that Juan Carlos will play in Rosmalen, but the official entry list for the ATP event is not yet out. You can still have some hopes, though they will probably prove to be false.. I am hoping for Karol Kucera myself (he has won the tournament once), but he usually plays Nottingham.. False hope too, but hey we can give it a try ;)

clijsters plays at eastbourne!

CooCooCachoo
05-04-2004, 07:55 AM
Yeah, so I read. I really wonder why. She might well be back in Rosmalen after one year ;) But maybe it will mean that it's a bit more quiet in Rosmalen, so it's a good thing, since I am not a Clijsters fan anyway :)

I've never gone to a tournament before, do you pay for a day or something? Or for a specific match? At least, in Rosmalen...?

I've never gone to a tournament before, do you pay for a day or something? Or for a specific match? At least, in Rosmalen...?

Yeah, you pay a ticket for a day. There are three or four courts on which matches are played early in the tournament, so on those days you can pick your matches yourself. The Rosmalen event is one of the few combined ATP and WTA tournaments, meaning that male and female players are there. This means that, early in the tournament, there are at least 64 different singles players (some players who tried to qualify tend to linger on the grounds too) and some doubles players too; therefore there are a lot of courts needed. The closer you get to the finals, fewer courts will be used. On the final on Sunday, only two matches will be played, both on centre court. This means that with your ticket you basically are guaranteed to get two or more matches.

Prices for the tickets are on the official website http://www.ordinaopen.nl

another reason to go, is to meet coocoo!!

Yeah! LOL Everyone should go because of that ;) Nah, I won't be around that much. Two days, three tops. And early in the tournament too. - Keeping my fingers crossed so that I get to see Krizan/Srebotnik and Ruano Pascual/Suarez -

MAN!!!!!!!!! I just found out that I have exams then!!!!!!! Just my luck...

CooCooCachoo
05-06-2004, 02:49 PM
Blah.. I know what you are feeling. Had exams during Rotterdam (I read my English book that I had a test on inbetween the rallies in the Ferrero - Van Scheppingen match.. lol) and always had tests after Rosmalen, so that I had to study a lot too. But I will be done with my finals just a week and a half before Rosmalen starts! For the first time ;) But I don't want to make you jealous..

What for exams do you have? Can't you like go one day anyway? Rosmalen is the best tournament in The Netherlands, when it comes to the atmosphere, so you should try! :)

JuanChuffy007
05-07-2004, 10:29 AM
Well, it more like a "resit test-week". Or whatever that is in English (een herkansing week voor het 3e en 4e kwartiel). I have at least one Physics test...

Isn't Clijsters going to defend her title from last year??? That would be really weird...

CooCooCachoo
05-17-2004, 06:20 AM
Kezzi.. I don't think she is. She committed to Eastbourne, but she will only play there if she is fit anyway.

Daniilidou didn't defend her title last year either and she lost like in the first round of Eastbourne ;) Now she is coming back to Rosmalen.. Maybe Clijsters will do the same!

STILL no names for the Ordina Open. It is taking forever.

Kezzi
05-19-2004, 10:46 PM
On her site it says that she will go to Eastbourne or to Rosmalen. So I think it isn't decided yet, otherwise it wouldn't say 'or'. I'm really hoping she's going to be there and hopefully with Lleyton. :)

CooCooCachoo
05-20-2004, 07:29 AM
Lleyton won't play either.. Kim told some fans that she would be playing in Eastbourne.. Sorry!

Maria Kirilenko will play in Rosmalen, as she won the Saint-Gaudens event, which gave her a place in the main draw of the Ordina Open. The winner of Prostejov will too, but that event has yet to be played.

Guillermo Coria has received a wildcard in Queen's, so he will be playing in England too.

No, don't think Coría will play here. Martin Garcia maybe :p

I've never gone to a tournament before, do you pay for a day or something? Or for a specific match? At least, in Rosmalen...?
Yes, you pay for a day. I dunno how it is is Rosmalen, but I went to Wimbledon and there you have seperate tickets for the Showcourts (Centre and Courts no 1 and 2) or "all other outside courts". Just queue on the day of the match you want to go. Maybe in Rosmalen they have tickets for all courts (I believe they have 4)

CooCooCachoo
05-23-2004, 02:13 PM
No need to queue in Rosmalen ;) The tickets are indeed for all courts. There are more than four courts (I think 7 are used, but there are more courts too, for practising). Just order your tickets if it is for the end of the week!
