Joshua is a dead ringer for the younger Dexter Holland of The Offspring.

If anything, Joshua is an overachiever on the courts ... he was not backed by the LTA as a junior. Only after doing well on the Challenger circuit did he get some backing. Yes, he received a wildcard to Wimbledon one year but he followed up by qualifying a later year.

Check his age. I'd say he has 3 more years to prove himself.

And if Joshua gets to read this, he'll know who I am if I mention that it was a lovely gesture for him to introduce his parents to me at Surbiton last year.

I think he is a great commentator even though he wasnt that great a player. Robbie Koenig is a former doubles player from south africa (the funny accent) and the third sidekick Doug Adler is just not worth mentioning.

yes it is very rare for me to not get annoyed by a commentator but i have to say he's pretty good. i love the way he always disagrees with that American Doug guy who says such dumb things.

Yes he is really great. I love it when he comments some stats and graphics after every set during Wimbledon. That's where I got to know him.

Goodall is the one with the refined British accent, right? If so, then I definitely enjoy his commentary. Very well balanced, calm, and informed. Can't say I care too much for the South African one or the American guy. There also used to be another British guy alongside Goodall, but sounded much older. What happened to him?

Yes he is the British guy. The older guy is John Barett and he has retired  . I really like Goodall too (especially compared to the other two) and I love his voice :inlove:.

John Barrett or "JB" as they call him is retired so we wont hear him anymore - sadly.

I love Jason Goodall, aside from just being a good commentator, he's also hilarious. He slips in comments all the time that make me laugh. Before the Gonzalez/Nadal Rome final he mentioned Gonzalez's match against Massu and how it had lasted "3 1/2 years" and during a Volandri match in Rome he commented that he hoped he bought some good conditioner with the money from his unexpected run. Just random snarky things. Awesome.

Re: Jason Goodall--I was just mentioning to a friend how much I like this guy.
He's like a godsend after being stuck with mostly with Cliffy/Patrick/Tim Ryan/ etc... on espn.

Is Jason Goodall the commentator who's been saying all this week that players should hit to Rafa's fh(where he makes more UEs) than his bh? That almost proved true today, but I'm glad Rafa was able to make the adjustment.

Who is he? Everything this man says is spot on and true.
Apparently some viewers are less impressed (http://www.thetennischannel.com/forum/forums/3685/ShowPost.aspx) with his commentary than you (or me for that matter, I like him too)

I'm but a mere newbie here so hopefully my response to your repeated demands polite request will help ingratiate me with the forum

This is the first picture I came across from a photo agency (http://www.fotolibra.com/) that seemed to match my search enquiry:

http://i11.tinypic.com/66wuypu.jpg

And yet, while the tennis player shown is apparently called Jason Goodall and has a certain rakish look about him, his appearance just didn't seem to fit the voice I've been hearing

After I came across a scan elsewhere (http://www.smartproinsight.com/acemagazinefederervnadal.htm) of a tennis magazine column bearing the same name but a different face, from what I could tell, I kept digging through the search results and finally came across this picture:

http://i15.tinypic.com/4mcd06x.jpg

It's from another tennis site (http://www.tennis.info/Hamburg4-5Fri.asp), reportedly taken in 2004 with former colleague John Barrett on the left and the man in question on the right.

Hopefully that satisfies you curiosity about what he looks like - I was wondering myself but this gave me a reason to finally find out ;)
