Some photographers asked him to do it after an early win and the tradition has carried on.

I think it must be very good for his appetite. Its symbolic of his normal playing style. The age of animal magnetism has arrived!

He said on an interview to Marca that he did it because Moya did it once somewhere joking and then he started doing it and now it's a tradition. He also said the he lost his trophy from Acapulco....BTW in my soccer team we did that, I still remember the last trophy I won in District Champs...oh wait that was only 06

I have to admit this is a funny response, T_N_E.
Your pretty eloquent in English, may I say so?

More than your Rafzilla, I daresay. Not that that matters to me at all.

Biting trophies gives Rafa the dietary minerals to help beat Feddy and _____________ (fill in the players name). :yeah: Also it personalizes the trophies so they are easier to win multiple times.

fake answer: he was hoping it was something else...longer...more slender...fleshier

real answer: a lot of athletes bite their trophies in a sort of "is it real?" gesture

Rafa has to do everything Charly does. ;)

Yes, but he wants a better career.

He's trying to create his own style. Why do you think he wears those weird pants of his and calls his own ass famous (though they are)?

True! even if its gimmick its a fun thing.
Besides its a lot better than the military cap routine that Colonel Youzhny goes through after every win>>'Mad-Hatter'!

:haha: Sound reasoning! Imagine the amount of iodine and iron that thing contains. Helps him run like the wind!:worship:

Interesting that Rafa passed Moya career total titles (19) at Barcelona, with Moya aged 30 and Rafa 20.

this is Rafa's way of defending trophies. If you were playing a tournament that Rafa had played in and won/eaten the trophy the previous year, would you really want to be holding the spitty trophy the next year? No, thats why everyone loses to him on purpose cos they dont want to touch something that been in his mouth

Watch NGC. Its a known fact that once the Lion finishes his meal, the hyenas wipe away whatever's left of it.

By that theory, others should be quite proud to hold a trophy that he BIT once.
