05-11-2007, 02:49 PM

05-11-2007, 02:49 PM
Well I didn't think Volandri had it in him, but congratulations all the same! This must be the best tennis week of his life.

05-11-2007, 02:49 PM
Great win!

05-11-2007, 02:50 PM
Tomas Berdych - taking mental midgetness to unparalleled new heights.

05-11-2007, 02:50 PM

05-11-2007, 02:50 PM
Very good Volandri........I'm impressed:D He just may get through Gonzo tomorrow. But, Nadal is winning Roma.

05-11-2007, 02:52 PM
Pippo :woohoo:

05-11-2007, 02:52 PM
Well done Filo.

It's amazing, come the latter stages Berdych always finds a way to lose matches he's favoured to win. No wonder he hasn't won a title since Paris-Bercy 2005.

05-11-2007, 02:52 PM
Forza Filo !!!!!
Grande Pippo !

05-11-2007, 02:52 PM
Congrats Volandri, he played really great today. Impressive performance and he is after Nadal the 2nd best player in Rome, imo. Never saw his FH working as well as it does here in Rome. No break point against him. :yeah:
He's in the zone, apparently.

Sorry Berdych, I thought you would've a good chance, but to many UE's and a great playing Volandri was too much for you to handle today.

05-11-2007, 02:52 PM
And with that win he gets direct entry to Hamburg.

Chris Seahorse
05-11-2007, 02:53 PM
The best part is that Berdych won only 5 points on Volandri's serve in EIGHT services games. Just five meagre points. Against Volandri's serve. :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha:

05-11-2007, 02:53 PM
:woohoo: What a tournament for Volandri. He will surely win Bandwagon Player of the Month now.

05-11-2007, 02:54 PM
didn't see this coming  Pippo :clap2:

When the Birdman is off, he just doesn't have the ability to make any changes to his game during a match :o

05-11-2007, 02:55 PM
Thanks Pippo :worship:

05-11-2007, 02:55 PM
great FH. go to the FINAL !

05-11-2007, 02:56 PM
The best part is that Berdych won only 5 points on Volandri's serve in EIGHT services games.

Tomas still struggling to find consistency. Volandri did well against a poor opponent again, he's really the killer of the tournament so far

Volandri rules. :rocker:

05-11-2007, 02:57 PM
The Bird Man...what can you there ANYONE else you want when you need to win ONE match with your life on the line?

Shhh!!!! Don't answer...

05-11-2007, 02:57 PM
It's impressive that Volandri didn't suffer from the next day letdown that usually befalls giant killers. Congrats to him on dispatching the annoying Berdy. :hatoff:

05-11-2007, 02:58 PM

What a tournament for Volandri! :hatoff:

05-11-2007, 03:02 PM
WHOHOO PIPO, take the title now Super Pipor

05-11-2007, 03:02 PM
So we have the bandwagon player of the month!

:bounce: Pippo Pippo Pippo Pippo:bounce: ! I love that sound.

05-11-2007, 03:05 PM
What a joke, Berdman. :o

05-11-2007, 03:06 PM
:worship: Volandri :worship:

Best flattened forehand since Fena at AO. :yeah:

He played alot better today then yesterday. Take the title!!! Please!!! :tape:

Hola Mr. SK
05-11-2007, 03:10 PM
So Lucie calld Berdy before the match to come home for dinner, huh?

Super Pipo :yeah:

05-11-2007, 03:13 PM
This Volandri needs to be taken seriously. If he's on a roll like Fernando Gonzo on the AO this year, then Rafa must not bypass him as a journeyman.

Besides, his current form is now going to be cheered by overzealous, crown-hungry Italianos. That will fuel the fire further.
BTW, when was the last time an italian won something in tennis?

05-11-2007, 03:13 PM
Terrible. The worst part is that Tomas just didn't seem to care so much. There were 100 points there to be taken.

05-11-2007, 03:23 PM
BTW, when was the last time an italian won something in tennis?

Adriano Panatta in 1976 won Roland Garros and Rome.

3 great upsets in a row for Filo :yeah:

05-11-2007, 03:26 PM
Great win pippo  :rocker2:

05-11-2007, 03:40 PM
oooh Tomas...that was such a poor performance. The first game went wonderful for him but then on Volandri's serve and when the crowd started going excstatic at every shot he was making something broke :sobbing: and when I think Tomas could have been into the final :sobbing:

Great job Volandri though! :yeah: for managing to keep the momentum from yesterday's match. But honestly IMO...if he does get to the final and he does play against Rafa...:tape: with all the confidence and the crowds and the cheering...Rafa will have a tough match indeed but win eventually :p

Sunset of Age
05-11-2007, 03:40 PM
Well, well, surely didn't see that coming!

Well done, Pippo. :hatoff:

05-11-2007, 03:56 PM

05-11-2007, 04:01 PM

05-11-2007, 04:01 PM

After beating Gasquet and Federer, this win was expected.
I hope he makes the final. Great week for him.

05-11-2007, 04:19 PM
CONGRATS TO PIPPO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :worship: :worship:

05-11-2007, 04:54 PM
I watched this whole match and it was like Berdych wasn't even there.his serve was so off and his forehand would not work for the life of him!

Good on pippo for not letting Tomas get into a good rhythm :yeah:

05-11-2007, 05:00 PM
Adriano Panatta in 1976 won Roland Garros and Rome.

05-11-2007, 09:06 PM
Volandri was absolute top class here, 3 massive wins this week, not just a one-of in terms of results. Well done Pippo... the SF is truly deserved, first SF since 1978 in this event for an Italian. Excellent.

05-12-2007, 02:51 AM
You guys have no idea how happy I am with Filip. It's absolutely amazing and I didn't expect it in a million years. I hope the pressure doesn't get to him and he just plays his best like he has all week.

Gasquet, Federer, Berdych- all consecutively :D
:woohoo: :yeah:

Berdych, that was even dumb tennis by his standards. He didn't vary his serve at all and he didn't seem to bother too much.

Volandri, another excellent performance from the guy with the worst serve in the top 100. Hit good length, kept his errors down and changed it up at the right moments and Berdych was like Santa Claus on LSD at Xmas time.

Great week for Volandri whatever happens after this and good he got a SE to Hamburg.

Well its a funny thing about his 'worst serve'... we all know technically it is awful, but somehow it must do something because he has dropped just 1 service game against Federer and Berdych which is top stuff... when he made his first serve he won something like 90-95% of the points or something stupid like that against Berdych.
