Davydenko def. Robredo, 1-6 6-3 6-3

All Boredo does is defend

In the first set he had 3 winners (1 service winner, 1 volley winner, 1 fh winner) and he won it 6-1

Kolya bossed the match from start to finish, when he stopped making too many silly ue's, it was end of the road for Robredo

Hopefully Davy can give a good fight against Rafa (or Nole) in the SF, he has to cut down the errors to have any chance

Boredo must play a lot better in Hamburg to defend his title

Davai Kolya!!!

Gave me a shock after losing the break in the 3rd set.

Decent match. Davydenko did well to pick up his game after the awful first set. Robredo is rather boring to watch. He rarely does anything that catches my attention, though I did enjoy seeing Davydenko make him run all over the court.

Where is Kolya taking his fighting spirit lately? Weird stuff.

Kolya doesn't seem to want to let Djokovic be the 4th seed at RG :awww:

Never in doubt. Kolya, as usual, returns to form just in time for the big tournaments. :yeah:

On the contrary, he's doesn't want to let Roddick be the 3rd seed. :p

Djoko and Davydenko will probably be the 3rd and 4th seed. They just need to do a great Hamburg and it's done. Roddick is out of Hamburg.

Btw with his win Davydenko has passed Roddick right?

Davydenko is just plain solid on all surfaces.

Unfortunatley for Robredo, his natural talent cannot bring him to beat top 5 players consistently....

Still, decent match for Davydenko...

Unless Djokovic beats Nadal, he needs to make at least the semi-final in Hamburg to overtake Roddick.

the only thing that separates those two top 10 guys is that Dadenko can actually raise his level of play when needed, boredo just play his game and if his opponent isn't in his best form he will beat them.saying this and realising that many people probably thought the same about Wilander before 1988 while we swedes loved him..

Pretty good match - Davydenko hit some terrific shots at times today and deserved the win.

A semi final in Hamburg, where he will be the 4th seed (Roddick is out), would be a normal result for him right now...

Davydenko has already passed Roddick with today's win I think. And Roddick is out of Hamburg...

And a SF in Hamburg for Djokovic will do the job for him.

Actually, I made a mistake. He's defending 50pts in Hamburg from last year so he needs to make the final to overtake Roddick. And I disagree, there are plenty of players who would fancy their chances against Djokovic, especially on the really slow clay. A lot will depend on the draw and whether Nadal chooses to withdraw.

pathetic missed opportunities for Robredo...the match was his and he let it go

If he needs the final, it will be harder.

But will Federer and Nadal skip Hamburg again?

Nadal might skip Hamburg again, but I don't know about Federer since he lost pretty early in Rome

Looks like Davydenko is back on track :yeah:

Safin, very good Starace, Robredo,...SF after a long time.

Too bad he has got a date with Nadal tommorow

I'm sure that Federer will play. It's arguably his best TMS and he only skipped it last year because of that long Rome final.

Federer has said he'll play.

And he will. He wants the points. He needs momentum.

Hopefully Davydenko is back on the way up. Good win for him!

I'm sure Fed will play Hamburg this time. He needs the points now, and more practice on the slow clay. Hamburg is an excellent opportunity for that.

Wilander was a lot smarter, that's the difference.

PMK, was very solid and hit some very clean shots and when he plays well, he doesn't give the opponent any time to breathe, it's just when his timing is a little off, then he really looks poor.
