I think he had 40-0 in the 1st set when serving for it then lead 5-2 in the 2nd to lose 5-7. Good win for him. :hatoff: AsianSensation 05-09-2007, 05:26 PM that was bad james....real bad. KrisJB 05-09-2007, 05:27 PM In the 1st set James had 5-4 and 30-0, he hit a clear ace and was cheated :(. It was 30-15 instead of 40-0.It is embarassing that Hawk Eye is not used. Sparko1030 05-09-2007, 05:28 PM I admit I thought it would go to a third set, but I prefer to think of it as Nico not giving up more than James choking  They both had trouble holding serve. :awww: And clay is Nico's best surface, and not James' of course. :p Tom Paulman 05-09-2007, 05:29 PM I'm a fan of James, but he deserved to lose today. Serving for set 3 times and getting broken in all 3 cases ... :help: MrJ 05-09-2007, 05:31 PM I'm a fan of James, but he deserved to lose today. Serving for set 3 times and getting broken in all 3 cases ... :help: I thought he played well and should have taken it to a decider at the very least, it was the best I have seen him play for a good while. Its the choking thats holding him back... :( PoderShileno 05-09-2007, 05:32 PM NICOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO¡¡¡¡¡ :bounce: KrisJB 05-09-2007, 05:34 PM If he hadn't been cheated in the 1 st set he would have won this match. Its the choking thats holding him back... :( Yes, he played well, especially given the fact that it was on clay, but he was absolutely hopeless in the most important points :( selyoink 05-09-2007, 05:44 PM Once a choker always a choker. cc2monac 05-09-2007, 05:45 PM bravo nico!!! +alonso 05-09-2007, 05:47 PM :woohoo: Great Nico! :woohoo: :bounce: LOVELY 05-09-2007, 05:50 PM GRANDE NICO !!!!!:worship: Merton 05-09-2007, 05:50 PM James :tape: If he hadn't been cheated in the 1 st set he would have won this match. NYCtennisfan 05-09-2007, 11:41 PM Very few players can shove their opponent around on their worst surface for the better part of two sets only to see their game completely fall apart when it was time to close the deal. NicoFan 05-09-2007, 11:58 PM Very few players can shove their opponent around on their worst surface for the better part of two sets only to see their game completely fall apart when it was time to close the deal. I don't think you all are giving Nico any credit. Nico had chances to break James on numerous occasions (and didn't take advantage of them). It was a break-fest for both of them. I didn't see the match, but their stats were fairly close. I highly doubt that James shoved Nico around the court. ChinoRios4Ever 05-10-2007, 12:09 AM what a fight nicooooooooooooooo :woohoo: keep on fighting OLYMPIC WARRIOR!!!!! :fiery: gogogirl 05-10-2007, 12:34 AM Hey All, I agree with the ones that said that James deserved to lose because he didn't win. What is a choke exactly - by the way? Naturally - he didn't play the important points well. And you know why? His serve needs improvement. I've been saying that for three years. Last year it became better, but over all - it was not together because his seconds would still hold him back in many points. I need to take a look at James' serve % so far this year. I forgot - but my God - he just can't hold serve when it matters. I suppose that could be considered a choke - but then again - one has to look at the surface. If he had been playing on hard courts or grass - he probably would have done better - but I don't care what surface it is - one has to learn how to hold their own. Hold you own darn serve for goodness sake. It doesn't seem as if he practices enough getting the first serve in. He needs to take a little bit off of it and train his mind to prepare for the return game. He didn't play that bad today - although the score board doesn't show winners and errors. Anyone got those stats. My bad - I just got in and only read the first page of this thread. But still........................................ Another thing he and anyone else deserves to do is fall out of the top ten if they don't play well enough on all surfaces. I could care less if James fell out. To do and be better one has to know better - I always say. I have to give it to Rafa - because at least he knows that he wants to be an all surface player. These Americans have the chops to achieve on clay - but they are perpetrating that since they've already been dismissed on it - then they'll just wait on the other seasons. Bunk! Anyway - James got beat by one clay court specialist today - but he and Mardy took out two in doubles. Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! "KEEP IT UP JAMES AND MARDY" "CONGRATS NICO" ASP0315 05-10-2007, 12:49 AM Expected win by Nico. Great fight from him. Nice choke James. RagingLamb 05-10-2007, 12:54 AM if i was his coach, one day out of nowhere I'd go at him with my belt and beat him to tears. i'd then tell him that from now on every time he f**ks up he's getting the belt, and he better think about that when he's letting guys just take matches from him at no cost. that's sure to scare the little girl right out of him +alonso 05-10-2007, 01:10 AM I saw some highlights and Nico was very fast around the court. James was too in a hurry to hit today, netted a lot of easy balls ginnylegend 05-10-2007, 11:18 AM James cocked this up, oh well it's always the same with him.
