I would hope Haase is smart enough to play Wimbledon qualies instead  I think De Bakker might get a WC instead.

There was a rumour a couple of weeks ago that De Bakker would get a WC to Wimbledon itself, so that would enable him to play here.

Well, on the men's side they hand out the WCs to Dutch players  On the women's side, Octagon has had a hand in some WCs, though. But then again, there never were any Dutch players that really deserved a WC. Last year Boonstra got one I think and then sucked. Tamaëla is always there to practise, but she then leaves for Wimbledon qualies. I'd think it wise if Haase does the same.

Yeah, it would make sense, as he won it last year. But Chardy got a WC into qualies only after he won it in 2005.

The guy is still very young. He is undeniably talented, but for boys it always takes longer to develop and get to the top than for girls. I wouldn't say he has been playing like crap (what I have seen of him is good), and I doubt you are judging from anything other than scorelines.

in rotterdam he had no real chance against ljubicic and in bergamo he was also not really impressive.. and last year i saw him play at RG and 2 challengers in italy so i saw him enough real life to judge him not only at scorelines :)

But he hasn't been doing crap  He is just developing. He is a much bigger talent than Haase.

Martin Verkerk has requested the final WC. However, this WC is usually up to the management company to give away, so the tournament director is trying to convince them (source: Dutch TV, interview with Verkerk).

I'm confident he will.

Huge opportunity for the organizers to give a wildcard to Federer! I'm sure he will consider playing here after withdrawing from Halle.

Looks like the better field out of the two tournaments being played next week. Let's see what Willy can do on grass I'm so excited to see him play here. We know he can play well on fast surfaces and he has beefed up that serve so much that he could surprise someone here. I'm not talking about a title but a good performance leading up to Wimbly!

Who got the Qualify wild cards? It's an complicated thing because of almost every leaders of Dutch tennis are plying somewhere next week. The Q wild card should go to Verkerk,De Bakker,Wessels and to Martin Van Haasteren(he is just 16,yes,it's dangerous to let him start playing so young, but I don't see others good candidatures receive the WC)

I see Djokovic withdrawing from here..Hopefully not but there is a chance he does, certainly if he wins today against Clement and possibly Karlovic..He's been playing an awful lot of tournaments this year and needs some rest before Wimby..
