Murray still hasn't worked out how to play on clay, which is a shame for him, as Simon wasn't that good in this match, and Canas will destory him in the next round

Ugh. Supporting Andy is giving me ulcers. He needs to get himself sorted out mentally. He has the game, he just messes himself up with the attitude.

Good job Simon though. :) But I'll be rooting for Canas.

Geez. And that was supposed to be a future No. 1? Even Sampras (;) ) didn't suck on clay like this

"went jet skiing for the first time this year"

ahhh. Why do tennis players do this? It seems unsafe!

Did anyone watching think the music was too loud - they had disco music blaring out. I'm not blaming this for Murray's loss he simply started too slow - but I thought it was disrespectful to both players who were not there for fun but as part of their careers and for important points. For the umpire to have to ask for it to be turned down was ridiculous - surely the tournament director should have sorted it out or even better not let it happen in the first place.

Fed should subtly recommend this to Nadal :)

He probably did but as it was written in the guardian I would need coroborating evidence before I was sure he did.

Poor result - the rustiness from only having played 1 competitive match in 5 weeks showing through and he was just so SLOW to get going at the start and after the very long rain delay. He took the whole first set and then waited until 0-4 down in the final set before he started to find good play - and patchily at that.

Credit to Simon though - at times he looked like blowing it in that final set but he held himself together just long enough to get it done.

I wasn't expecting much from Murray this week due to the injury and it's a good job because that's what he delivered today - not much. I wanted him to be back for Estoril to give himself a bit of a chance to get used to clay, but it wasn't to be.

Oh well - I hope for better in Hamburg.

It is good to see Andy back on court. There are no expectations at this point.

I dont think it was a big deal. It was coming from center court and didnt last long.

Simon tried his best to choke it away but Murray didnt want to take it. At 30-0 serving for the match Simon missed an easy overhead smash and 2 points later Murray had a BP but couldnt convert.

True though to be fair Simon hit a brilliant serve and high volley combo to save the bp - not a thing Murray could have done on that point - it's just a shame he threw in a few loose shots in that game and so didn't create any more.

Because Roddick was a clay master pre-gilbert.
