MUNICH (AFP) - Le Français Sébastien Grosjean a éliminé en deux manches (6-4, 6-4) l'Allemand Tommy Haas, tête de série N.1 du tournoi de tennis ATP de Munich, au premier tour mardi.

Grosjean, 58e mondial, s'est imposé en 1 h 27 minutes sur la terre battue de Munich, devant le N.1 allemand qui pointe actuellement au 11e rang mondial. Il s'agit de la première victoire du Français lors de leurs quatre derniers duels.

"C'est un beau succès, même si je n’ai pas eu besoin de réaliser un grand match pour le battre. J’ai surtout été solide alors que Tommy a commis pas mal de fautes", a-t-il expliqué.
Grosjean, éliminé en quart de finale du tournoi de Casablanca la semaine dernière, affrontera au deuxième tour l'Argentin Martin Vassallo Arguello (N.59) qui l'avait éliminé au même stade de la compétition à Roland-Garros l'an dernier.

"C’est un très bon joueur de terre battue. Il a le jeu typique sud-américain. Il est solide des deux côtés, il se déplace bien", a conclu Grosjean.
