El Burro 03-25-2007, 09:40 PM One of my last bets for this tourney:
WTD: 5/2/1 (+5.07 units [+50.7% ROI])
Canas over Gasquet @ 2.30 (1 unit) - took this about 12 hours ago, and, as I thought, Canas has come in a little bit. As we all know, Canas is a brick wall...he has a reasonable serve, a very good return, and is just, generally, very solid. Past results indicate that Gasquet doesn't particularly like this type of style. For instance, last year, he fell to the likes of Nalbandian, Hewitt and Clement. Perhaps you could even put Boredo in that list - he is pretty solid (but not a brick wall I guess). One of Gasquet's big weaknesses is that he is inconsistent...he can often go off the boil in a match, as evidenced yesterday with a 0/6 set against Grosjean  Furthermore, the Frenchman's fitness is always a bit of a doubt (he may have to battle for 2+ hours to beat Canas). Some were surprised at Canas's loss to Moya last week, and the fact that he struggled hugely against Ferrero. I wasn't...if you're going to beat a brick wall, you have to have a good weapon (forehand / backhand), go for winners, and paint the lines fairly often (which is what Ferrero and Moya are certainly capable of doing better than others). Sure, Gasquet CAN do that (particularly with his backhand), but with his mental fragility, maybe a lack of fitness, and what seems to be a weakness against brick walls, I'm willing to bet that he doesn't have what it takes to take out Willy. At this price, the Argentine is definitely worth a shot.
Good luck! :yeah:
Bilbo 03-25-2007, 09:51 PM Surprised to see you not on Santoro and Nieminen. Although I think Gasquet is going to win.

Pffff...not that confident Fab will take out Ljubo mate. I really don't like Bandy matches at all - not when he is in his current form ;) I don't like betting on Murray matches, or PHM matches, so that puts paid to that match too
However, I have 2 leans (but not taking):
Falla over Stepanek
Ferrer over Roddick
Bilbo 03-25-2007, 11:10 PM However, I have 2 leans (but not taking):
Falla over Stepanek
Ferrer over Roddick
good eye
Jimnik 03-26-2007, 04:39 AM Nieminen over Nalbandian @ 2.82
Nalba was rather unimpressive in his last match, against Spadea, in contrast to Jarkko.
Also tempted by these ones:
Mayer over Robredo @ 3.20
Mayer won their only meeting in straight sets. Could be a good match-up for him. But I was hoping for slightly longer odds considering the difference in ranking.
Canas over Gasquet @ 2.22
What a fighter. I think I'm going to wait until after Canas loses the first set. Then the odds will be really juicy. ;)
These also look good (early days so they could improve before tomorrow):
Ferrer over Roddick @ 3.40
Del Potro over Nadal @ 5.10
sports freak 03-26-2007, 09:43 AM Saw a Glimpse of Lalo and it seems that his in good shape, another words quite fit so he must be gearing up for the yr,not saying his gonna make a break through but definetely improvements will come!!Although i dont know what happened to him over the last 1-2 yrs, just hasnt really taken off,i guess that could come from the Party life outside, obvisouly some players take it more serious then others!!
Some leans!!!
Vera Dushevina 5.25 over Nicole Vaidsova with a backbet of Nikky 2-1 @ 4.50 cannot go wrong!!
Mayer 3.10 over Robredo - Florian has the game to trouble the Spainard and is in good flight!!
Gasquet 1.70 over Canas - Tough game here but the French man has the game no doubt to derail the Argentine,Ritchie is a tricky customer and depends on whether he rocks up or not,has more talent but Canas evens that off with Will power and being mentally stronger,Ritchie needs to be on top of his game!!
Good luck!!!
BORO77 03-26-2007, 10:08 AM I like also F Mayer and Santoro @4.5:worship:
Ljubo performs great at Masters:) and he usually has troubles with the little frenchman.
I like Ferrer but he is playing tomorrow i think.

A_Skywalker 03-26-2007, 10:31 AM FOr me only Berdych @1.7 For the reason he cannot loose always
Tomas Berdych x Nikolay Davydenko x Richard Gasquet @ 3.36

:haha:
That is not a good enough reason but i get what you are saying.:)
tennisfancroatia 03-26-2007, 11:44 AM Stepanek 1.55
Gasquet 1.75 (I saw both of them in round 2,and I think Gasquet will take this one)
Davy -4.5
And thinking about Fed at -5.5 or less then 19.5
What do you think about that?
Robredo to win 2-0 or a handicap is also on my mind
lephter 03-26-2007, 12:01 PM Stepanek 1.55

Honestly,i was thinking of taking Federer minus the number of points here but i lost betting against Almagro yesterday because his statistics on serve were out of this world...i believe -5,5 is a little too high and you can get beaten by that half point.
No one has -5...that would have been better.
Instead,Bet365 have Almagro +6 @2,25 (!!!).If i was betting with them i'd take that right away as i believe it's value...I don't have account there though.
I would stay away from that -5,5.
ATP MIAMI
Birdman OVER Chela Even though chela played well against nadal last week his run was overated, russel, simon and bjorkman are not that difficult to pass. Yes Birdman has been poor of late BUT he has been unlucky in his recent matches, should of won the tie-break against youzny in Dubai and Russel last week in Indian wells. The only thing he lacks at the momment is fighting spirit but winning in straights against a tricky opponent like clement is moral boosting. He served well in that match and i feel he will have too much power for chela.
Canas over Gazza I watched the match against ferrero and it was a gruelling affair but canas has had sufficent rest and should be ready for the mecurial frenchman. This could be a very tight match and canas might need gazza to lower his level but you have to go with Wily's determination and experience in this one. Gasquets bageling yesterday also does not give you much confidence.
WTA MIAMI
Radwanska over Garbin Impressive comeback against Hingis yesterday, radwanska is very similar to hingis, she is a brain player, she thinks about her shots alot and is very tactical in her plays. I like her here because Garbin's game is actually more suited to clay, her best results are on the red dust. Wins over harkleroad and shevodova are not anything to write home about whereas radwanska are, tricky opponent in Zheng and obvious difficulty in hingis. I feel the pole has one more round in her and should win here.
Peer over Kuzzie I think the defending champ has a very tricky one here, i usually side with kuzzie but Peer has been very impressive of late. She has beaten Kuzzie easily in the past and has the game to match the russian.
:)

Thanks for your opinion.
I'll take under 19.5.
So if Federer wins with a solid, normal scoreline, like 6-3 6-4,or something like that It will be enough.
Bilbo 03-26-2007, 01:25 PM Gasquet and Berdych for me
Bilbo 03-26-2007, 01:44 PM Willy is a huge public play
Yes Canas is a very popular player.. the mass of bettors prolly hasn't seen him before IW or BA and thinks he's some kind of Fed except he has good odds.
Some surprising bets here nonetheless.
Ays25 03-26-2007, 02:33 PM Gasquet and Berdych for me
surprising bets from your part.
Nitefaery 03-26-2007, 02:34 PM Canas/Gasquet is a pretty even matchup. Both play with different styles and can beat just about anybody. Whether or not it's a public play doesn't matter much in my book.. but I'd say there's more value with Willy as a dog.. I'll put a small bet on Canas.. he's in great form and on his way up.
Here's my main play: Ljubicic x Davydenko x Clijsters
The price has dropped on Ivan and increased heavily on Nikolay since I placed this wager. Ljubo has a much better hard court as well as masters series record as of late. He's been on form and I don't understand why the price is dropping. Hope he's not hurt  I'm not disrespecting Fabrice but if Ljubo is 100% I feel he is outmatched.
Delic plays better at home, but what does that mean vs Davydenko?
Na Li is having a great tournament having lost 3 games in two matches  and may look worth a go as a dog, but the better she does the more she will motivate Kimmy to dominate the match. Clisters lost to Sharapova once this year, and is totally superior to opponents ranked outside the top 5 in my humble opinion.
Bilbo 03-26-2007, 02:42 PM surprising bets from your part.
canas and chela are the logical thoughts but i went with the other side
Mistaflava 03-26-2007, 02:50 PM Miami is a great channel for steroid providers...beware of Canas...he's right at home in Miami.
Mistaflava 03-26-2007, 02:50 PM Alright so the bottom line right is now that STEPANEK better win his damn match...LETS GO!

That sounds like me, too often i get afraid of a odd too big or i see something interesting like kaia kanepi +5 games against patty schnyder, thinking about it and leaving it alone for some reason i dont know.
Nieminen to beat nalbandian sounds good but jarkko is afraid of winning the top20 ranked guys so dunno if to bet it..

I wasnt afraid, I just dont have much money on my account and If I loose some it is really hard to get those back. I started with really small sum and now I have descent sum. I multiplied the starting sum by now 5 times
Nitefaery 03-26-2007, 06:01 PM I hear ya Skywalker... yesterday I was staring at the hingis line all day because she was a HUGE favorite and she's upset constantly after the first round or two. I didn't wanna lose any money so I decided not to but sure enough she lost! What can you do :wavey:

Nothing, just wait for better time :) But building money slow is better. It is more safe. But if I need money I may go crazy and put everything on @15 or more :)
Nitefaery 03-26-2007, 06:36 PM Federer -5.5 1 unit - Almagro isn't a strong hardcourt player. In Fed's opening match Querrey played well but couldn't hit his easy aces when Roger got to nearly every ball. Fed still won by 5 games and I look for him to come out, dominate and continue to show he is the master of tennis after an early exit at indian wells. I predict Fed wins by 7 :yeah:
BookieMan 03-26-2007, 07:26 PM Hi All,
Canas v Gasquet - Leaning on Canas for this match up. Get the feeling he is trying to make up for lost time in the past and is highly motivated to perform well in the big tournaments. Thereby allowing him to get his ranking up and not have to go through the qualification matches. Currently, it seems to be windy again today and I think this is a plus for Canas as he has had more competitive play on these conditions this past week.
Was hoping for about 2.3 to strike the bet, but looks as if the public are betting him which is keeping the price depressed, could be almost to the point that if it goes 2.0 then its worth betting on Gasquet. I doubt this will happen though. Canas is also the fitter of the two and I suspect perhaps mentally tougher as well, I like Gasquet but this match up may not suit him and he may end up going nuts and not be patient enough when playing against a brick wall such as Canas.
Canas at 2.16 or above.
Mistaflava 03-26-2007, 07:40 PM Clijster sucks ass
Mistaflava 03-26-2007, 07:41 PM Okay, put me down for Canas
jayjay 03-26-2007, 07:48 PM Clijsters
She's made it pretty clear that she is retired. Not just going to retire, but retired already. She's just using the year to say goodbye to various people , Clijsters should be opposed from here on out.
She won't play enough tournaments to be match tight and sharp, and she doesn't seem to give a fuck either about that. Re: Not playing French Open, but playing Warsaw :cuckoo:
Nitefaery 03-26-2007, 08:00 PM Well if Ljubo loses I should either A: give up betting on tennis or B: fade myself
SwiSha 03-26-2007, 09:28 PM Well if Ljubo loses I should either A: give up betting on tennis or B: fade myself
stop playing chalk imo .. you are always parlaying favorites which is a losing strategy in tennis betting
just my opinion

I owe a thanks here as your good insight about Canas's match made me decide.I also thought of him as a possible winner against Gasquet but just didn't have the guts to take it and i was looking for that extra something to put me on the right track...your preview did.

Thanks to this post, i went for Cannas in my accumulator. I am in a no lose situation at the moment as Chela, Cannas and Ljubicic all won. if Jarkko wins i get £78 return. However to cover my bet, after Jarkko won the 1st set i put £5 on Nalby to win the match at 6/5 so that at least covers my £5 stake i put on my accumulator.
Thanks for the advice guys :)
