Your question... As for me I wasn't 100% attracted to Paulo by his look :)
It was in Moscow 2002 that I really got to know who him as a player. He was drawn to play Marat. Back then Marat was my GOD :lol: so whoever beated Marat made me wanna KILL THEM!! :armed:

But when Paulo beated Marat... I didn't feel bad at all! It felt like I've always liked Paulo, supported him all along! So that was the start for me ;)

Besides the fact that I'm shallow :p , I still support him because he is, for me, so "human" --- I mean he lost those terrible matches and won some unbelievable ones... It's the way life should be! Really, things shouldn't be too perfect! I'm sure I'll have to face greater disappointment than Paulo's losses! So I could say I've learned so many precious lessons from Paulo :)

Paulo is just one of the greatest examples to me. I can't imagine what he had to go through, still... he's still here -- playing and trying to do what he could do. If I were him, I might not know what are "faith" or "hope" or "fighting" anymore... I admire him as a person... just a person who lives his life through imperfections and he's doing pretty well if you ask me :angel:
