When you get a topsy-turvy game (happens all the time in the clay season:D ), odds fluctuate a lot.
So in this case you could take Gonzo @ $15 after a set down with say 10 unit
And after Gonzon squares it at 1-1 set a piece and say deuce on Feds serve you could take Fed @ $1.5 with say 100units

therefore your total outlay is
100 + 10 = 110 units
If Gonzo wins you get = 10x15 = 150units
If Fed wins you get = 100 x 1.5 = 150 units

Either way you win 40 units ;)

i can lay $5k gaudio to you against nadal at say $1.80 - that means you have the opportunity to back gaudio at $1.80 for $5k

when i lay off some one, i basically hedge my bets - that's when i use that term

this is how betfair runs - its effectively an exchange as opposed to a bookie - they earn income via commissions that both the "layer" and the "backer" pay for each transaction - that's the main downside of betfair IMO

no, you can back $1 if you really want, it just means $4,999 of my lay will be unmatched until the markets picks it up.
