View Full Version : Jiri Krkoska
TMJordan 07-17-2008, 01:26 AM Jiri Krkoska was born on March 2nd 1984.
The big serving Czech has been fighting on the futures tour for the past year and a half and has made the QF of 4 future tournaments and is ranked a career high 865 right now.
Krkoska stands almost 2 meters tall and weighs 90KG so I am sure he has a big serve and prefers fast courts!
He has done better in doubles than singles as he is currently ranked 379 and has won titles at Norway F2, Great Britian F3, Great Britian F2 and Georgia F1. 4 career doubles titles and counting!
This week he played at Syria F2 and lost to Arata Onozawa 6-3 6-3.
He also just lost his 2nd round doubles match via W/O I hope he is ok.
Lets hope Jiri can crack the top 500 by the end of the year! Also top 250 in doubles!
Go Jiri!
Zirconek 07-17-2008, 01:38 AM Vamos Krkoska :rocker2:
here are the few pictures I could find of him
(in doubles partnering Stancik in a Korean Challenger)
Zirconek 08-04-2008, 04:55 PM after withdrawing from a British futures (grass), Jiri plays this week at Iran F3 (clay).
His record on clay is 1-10 :o
He will face a qualifier, so he has some chance to get oints, and mabe he improves well his clay record (he doesn't play an official tournament on clay for more than a year)
Hi Edu! :wavey:
some pics of Jiří
Zirconek 08-27-2008, 05:01 PM :worship:
thank you very much :)
and good luck to Jiri on the clay events
Zirconek 12-10-2008, 02:44 PM Krkoska won his match against McGee in CZE F5 :D
Zirconek 12-12-2008, 01:06 PM and then retired in second round against Cervenak, when the Slovak was leading 3-1 in first set
I hope he can be fit to play in next week's futures (Opava).
Baghdatis#1 12-21-2008, 06:59 PM He played in a few Greece futures in May(Kos,Heraklion,Kalamata, etc.)
He didn't do so well in them. If I remember correctly he lost in r1 to Kostas Mikos in both Kos,Heraklion but I think he did good in Kalamata though. I think he reached QF. He doesn't seem that promising, but that doesn't mean people should stop rooting for him. Most Greek players aren't that promising, but that doesn't stop me from cheering for them. You never know if he's gonna be a late bloomer.
Zirconek 12-22-2008, 02:29 PM He played in a few Greece futures in May(Kos,Heraklion,Kalamata, etc.)

Krkoska's trip to Greece wasn't good for him, he lost in first round in all three events (like you said, two defeats to Mikos and also a defeat to Gemouchidis), even in doubles he collected bad results.
Last week, he lost to Vik in qualifying round, then got a LL spot in main draw first round - was really lucky since another player, Crepaldi, should play but eventually Krkoska replaced him. Krkoska faced Jan Mertl and lost in a tight match, Mertl was the winner of the tournament later.
I agree with you, you don't have to support only bandwagons :)
I hope Krkoska and Greek players have a great 209 season - well, Krkoska kind of helped Greek tennis in 2008 ;)

Zirconek 12-23-2008, 04:23 PM Krkoska will start 2009 season in El Salvador, might play the others futures in Central America. Good luck! :)
Zirconek 01-17-2009, 08:36 PM Krkoska will start 2009 season in El Salvador, might play the others futures in Central America. Good luck! :)
he didn't go to El Salvador, he is starting the season playing qualies of Great Britain F2 and later will play in Israeli futures.
Zirconek 03-20-2009, 06:25 PM Krkoska is making a quite good 2009 season, is ranked #812 and having success in qualies, but losing close matches in first round. Reached quarterfinals in an Italian future, lost to seed #1 in 2 tie-breaks :(
Zirconek 05-01-2009, 01:29 AM Playing in India for two weeks, in first tourney lost in second round to seed #1 after winning first set and losing the second in tie-break, he retired before the 3rd set (played doubles later in the day); now this week beat a seed in first round and lost in second round easily :(
In doubles he keeps winning early rounds but losing in semis in close matches
He didn't sign to any futures in next 2 weeks, he may take a rest, maybe will be back training in CZ.
Zirconek 05-08-2009, 10:12 PM Nodar, what happened to the website sportage.cz?
Krkoska will be playing in Kuwait in 2 weeks :D
Zirconek 05-19-2009, 07:22 PM Krkoska lost in first round to a lucky loser from iran :help:
in straight sets
hopefully he is not injured and can take the doubles title at least. After Kuwait F2, he plays a clay futures in Slovenia :cuckoo: go for the challenge, then, Jirka
Zirconek 06-09-2009, 02:57 AM So in Kuwait Krkoska collected two first round exits in singles, in F1 lost to LL Saeid Ahmadvand (IRI) 6-4 6-2 and in F2 lost to Karlis Lejnieks from Latvia, 7-6(5) 7-6(5).
In doubles, played with French Ysern and reached a semi and a final, both times lost to Rieschick/Kontinen.
This week Jiri is playing Tunisia F2, faces in first round the wild-card Slah mabarek (TUN), can face seed#1 in next round (Jeanclaude). He is not playing doubles, so I guess he's focused in his singles performance this week and I hope he can pull an upset and go far in this tournament.
He stays in Tunisia for F3 and then might head to Norway F2. BTW, he withdrew from the Slovenian clay futures last week
He is with a career high in singles (#765) and has some points to defend until the end of this month (2008: Norway F1 - QF, Norway F2 - R2, Turkey F7 - QF).
In doubles, he is currently ranked as #323 :bounce: was #317 in previous week.
Here is a picture of Jiri in a Turkish futures last year - with Ghedin, Ilhan and Asanov (sorry for the size :o )

Zirconek 06-29-2009, 03:06 PM Lost in Tunisia 1st round in straight sets, both tie-breaks
He is playing Italian Future this week (on clay ), faces qualifier Deni Zmak from Croatia in first round (to be played tomorrow, Tuesday). Is seeded#1 in doubles, partnering Italian Grassi.
In the following weeks he plays in Syrian Futures, hard court.
Good luck Jiri! :rocker2:
scarecrows 07-02-2009, 07:15 PM Good Luck
Zirconek 07-03-2009, 02:48 PM Good Luck
:worship:
he's needing luck, especially in tie-breaks. :awww:
well, he lost in Italy F17 1st round to Zmak, 7-5 6-2 I think, and in doubles won one match and lost in semis to Jebavy/Klizan.
Hopefully he will do great in Syria and collect some points, since some points are going off and he needs them to keep avoiding qualies.
For the week of July 20, his first priority is to play again in Italy, again on clay  but I see he is signed to Georgia as priority 6, so he actually can play anywhere - hopefully he will pick a tournament on hard and with a weaker field than Italy, but Jiri likes challenges and is hard working so is not scared of it, only his fan(s).
Zirconek 07-05-2009, 03:37 AM May I introduce to you Jiri's coach, Jaroslav Bulant :worship:

ExcaliburII 07-05-2009, 04:07 AM Hi, i enter this thread. Good luck to Krkoska.
Zirconek 07-05-2009, 05:50 AM :hatoff:
Krkoska plays now in Syria the next two weeks. He's been playing bad against weak opponents and his level raises when facing stronger players. Let's see who he will team up for doubles in Syria.
For the week of July 21, he is signed to Italy (priority #1, out of qualies for now - definitive list comes on Tuesday-, would have to play qualies), Korea, Venezuela, USA (priorities #2-4, main draw already) and Georgia (priority #6, 4th alternate so far, would make main draw). Only Italy is on clay. I think it's likely he plays on Georgia even though the low priority and we will know by Tuesday where he will be playing.
Hi Edu! :wavey:
Nice to see a new fans in this thread!!! Let´s go Jiri! Good Luck in Syria F1! :yeah:
Zirconek 07-06-2009, 05:57 AM Nodar
Krkoska soon might have his own forum if his fanbase keep growing like this (and like his ranking) :D
In Syria F1 he plays in first round seed#6, Sadik Kadir from Australia, tough opponent who comes from 2 QF in Ireland, but I hope Krkoska plays his best and can go deep in the draw. In doubles, he is partnering the Dutch Lucassen.
I don't know if he is playing tomorrow because the tournament don't have OOP available at ATP.
Zirconek 07-06-2009, 05:13 PM Jiri plays his first round match tomorrow (Tuesday)
Today he played doubles, (3)Krkoska/Lucassen d. Siributwong brothers (THA) 6-4 6-4
:)
Krkoska/Lucassen :yeah:
BTW - I have missed few months of tennis and it's nice to see Jirka so high in rankings! Good Luck tomorrow! :)

Zirconek 07-08-2009, 02:28 PM Jirka lost in first round to Kadir, 7-6(5) 6-3 :bigcry: :sobbing:
now I hope he can win the doubles and a better week in Syria F2.
He pulled out from all the tournamenst of July 20, but I didn't see his priority#2, maybe he will play Challenger qualies, maybe he will take a rest. I thought he would play in Geogia F2.

Jirka
It's good for him to take a rest. Hope he is not planning to play events on clay like a last year
Good luck next week.
Zirconek 07-14-2009, 10:20 PM Surprise, surprise, another 1st round exit for Krkoska, against an unranked player :( Lost to Syrian Robert Makzoume, 4-6 6-3 6-3.
At least won in doubles, this week he is partnering James McGee, hopefully he will do better than last week when he lost in semifinals.
Today he withdrew from Great Britain F10 entry list so probably no tournaments in the next 2 weeks.
Zirconek 08-01-2009, 04:00 PM Krkoska lost in 1st round qualies of Segovia Challenger, 6-3 6-4, to Pablo Martin-Adalia (ranked 509). I hope he plays doubles and can win some money in Spain.
Zirconek 08-08-2009, 12:39 AM Good luck to Krkoska in Istanbul Challenger qualies :D
Zirconek 09-05-2009, 02:50 PM Jirka to play France F14 qualies. Reached his best doubles ranking 276 (August 10) after a QF and a SF in Challengers (Istanbul and Karshi). In singles Challengers qualifying, lost to Prpic in qualifying round of Istanbul (7-5 6-3) and retired in first match in Karshi.
Good luck in France, Jirka. :rocker2:
Zirconek 09-20-2009, 04:54 PM He didn't play the French futures, but played St Remy CH (only doubles) and took the title partnering Lukas Lacko :aparty: This week lost in doubles first round of a Challenger (partnering Raja, old partner)
Now he will play a German futures (carpet) in 2 weeks. :)
Zirconek 10-11-2009, 02:48 PM Krkoska won a match at the German futures, lost in 3 sets in 2nd round to a seed player. In doubles played with Pazicky and won only one match, losing at semis.
Now he is playing Tashkent Challenger, went through qualies. Plays Kumantsov in first round. In doubles, is partnering Lukas Lacko.
good luck Jirka :rocker2:
