Marine 06-25-2004, 09:55 PM I'm just curious, I'd like to know if someone of this forum had the great opportunity to meet Pete ? To talk him ???
Personly...never. I just saw him in real 4 times (Bercy 3, RG 1) and I was very happy, so I can imagine that meeting him is still more fantastic !!!
angiel 06-26-2004, 02:20 AM Hello Marine, join the fourm recently and i love all these great stuff about Pete, I think I am his biggest fan in the world, I try to collect everything I can put my hands on about him, my heart is still broken since he retires from tennis. I think he would be a super golfer, what do you guys think? I would to hear about anyone meeting him too.

never saw, never met :(
one of my biggest regrets.... had one opportunity (the year hewitt beat him in the open finals) but could not offered those tickets!! probably just as well --- I would have hated for that one chance to see him to be in that situation where he was losing so badly
i have met him in person once, its 1996, the Marboro Open (exhibition), he was the no.1 by that time, no.2 was Michael Chang :wavey:
he was a little bit cold to his fans ;) and he only signed 2 autographs, but i don't blame him, he is also human beings, he has good and bad days ;)
Lalitha 06-29-2004, 07:23 AM wow, you have met him Mimi, you lucky girl.
he was the superstar by then, all other players seat together in one car, while he seats in one car alone ;), but may be its exhibition, the great sampras won the first round, but lost in the second round
i have also seen Thomas Muster and got his autograph, he is very nice and signed more than 50 autographs :wavey: :worship:
blueriver 07-02-2004, 03:52 AM hehe, Mimi, you are lucky...I still remember the time when he was in HK, I havent met Pete, and doubt whether i will
hey Lalitha, how come you change your avator to Roger  , now Roger is giong to break Sampras's records and i don't like this idea
wow, you have met him Mimi, you lucky girl.
thanks blueriver, i think i am lucky :p , Pat won that event :wavey:
may be you will meet Pete when you visit usa, everything is possible :wavey:

blueriver 07-09-2004, 08:56 AM Hey, Mimi, Totally agree with you...I hate it when Roger broke Pete's record on grass   I hope he wont break Pete's grand slam records.. :p only 11 grand slams to go...No...I hate it when people say Roger is more complete than Pete
hey Lalitha, how come you change your avator to Roger  , now Roger is giong to break Sampras's records and i don't like this idea
angiel 07-10-2004, 05:12 AM Roger will not break Pete records, none of them anytime soon, so dont worry yourself blueriver, and as for him been more complete than Pete, it is just nonsense, this is just John McEnroe running his mouth off as asusal, John never have anything good to say about Pete, if somebody else comes along tomorrow and start winning grand slams they will say the same about him been better than Roger Federer, give the guy a couple more years and then we will see if he can better Pete records, it is not always the current star that shines the brightest, somebody might come along next year and then we will be singing a different tune.
yes blueriver, hehe, I am not alone, yes only 9 slams is already enough for Roger, don't give him 11, the selfish mimi
he may be more complete than pete but pete's mental toughness is the greatest :worship: :worship: , always winning, thats why i admire him, always calm, no bad words, just let his racket does the talking :worship:

hope your words will come true angiel :wavey:
i want pete's record to remain forever!!!!!

thanks for your stats angiel :)
what i meant was that Roger seems to have a more complete game than Pete coz Pete's backhand sometimes is not very good :o
but still seems no one at the moment can really challenge Roger, unlike Pete, who has Agassi/Chang/Boris to challenge him, so thats why I start to worry about Pete's records
but thanks a lot, Pete is still better than Roger at the moment :worship: :worship:

Lalitha 07-13-2004, 08:53 AM hey Lalitha, how come you change your avator to Roger  , now Roger is giong to break Sampras's records and i don't like this idea
I just found this pic amusing as it was for my earlier avtar of Pete. Nothing that I'm happy with Roger breaking Pete's record.
Btw, anyone what was Pete's reaction towards his record being broken?
angiel 07-13-2004, 05:38 PM Here is Pete reaction about his records being broken, and I quote - These records could be broken but it will be very hard. Not to blow my own horn, but to stay on top year-in, year-out, it kind of has to be your life. Connors had that, Lendl had that, I had that. Lalitha can you post those photos of Pete from tennis magazine for us, thank you.
Marine 07-13-2004, 09:18 PM If someone breaks his recond ine day I prefer that it's Federer, I like him.
But honestly, I'm sure Pete is right, it will be very hard and it won't be tomorrow...lol (I'm at ease with that... ;) )
Lalitha 07-14-2004, 05:41 AM Lalitha can you post those photos of Pete from tennis magazine for us, thank you.
Well, I've been trying to get a scan of it, since the mag does'nt an online one. But I scanned a couple of it and got a few more as well. Would get everything done by this weekend and would post it for all of us.
Btw, the couple of pics which I already have are more than 500kb. Anyone knows how to reduce the Kb size of a pic.
Lalitha 07-14-2004, 05:49 AM I think you must have seen this, but anyway, this one is around 150Kb.
Lalitha, thanks, but i think goran is more amusing than roger  :p
i suspect that pete is a little bit afriad of his 14 slams being broken, just my suspicion :secret:

Lalitha 07-16-2004, 07:05 AM Another pic of him. This one is from the match against Courier in AO, where he cried in remembrance of Tim. Too bad, I had cut half the pic, so that to reduce the size.
Lalitha 07-16-2004, 08:18 AM This one, I believe everyone must have seen. But anyway, I'll post this.
angiel 07-17-2004, 12:48 AM Hi Lalitha, what about the photos from the July 2004 issue of tennis magazine, cant you post those?

Lalitha 07-19-2004, 10:11 AM Ya, I would buy that as well if it is available in India.
Btw, I had old copies of an Indian sports magazine covering Pete's career when he was playing. It was piling up like anything, to my Mother's annoyance - so I had to throw that away.
sorry that this magazine is not available in India but may be next time you can order in internet  , the quality of the paper is very bad, but since it has pete, i have to buy :p
since my house is too small, i have to throw things away from time to time, but of course i will never throw those magazines with pete and monica on cover :worship:
