What is the matter with Roger Federer????

There seems to be something wrong with Federer. Does anyone have any theories or facts??

He loses to Canas at Indian Wells. Granted obviously something was wrong with him with the injury time outs, blisters, whatever.

Second loss to Canas: Yes Canas played really well but after the 2nd set Federer was back in control of the match and in my opinion he "chocked"!

Now today in Monte Carlo, he played terribly!!!!!! His unforced errors were pathetic. He couldn't hit a forehand to save his life and he seemed (and looked) bothered and completely out of sorts. He was lucky to win that match!

And for those of you who saw the match, did you see Tony Roach shaking his head in bewilderment and at times burying his head in his hat in seeming disgust? And Mirka looked worried too. Which is never a good sign!

It just seems like something is wrong with him. Does anyone know anything?

I blame it on Mirka.

I wasn't saying he's done or he will never win a single match again or anything like that!

Just an observation that he seems "out of sorts". Hopefully, I will get some more insightful responses.

was there this much uproar when rochus took him to 3 sets and had match points at Halle last year?

calm down people. he's just getting used to playing matches on clay again. give him a break

What's new?

Federer losing to a defensive ball chaser? Clearly not
Federer looking less than impressive in the 1st round? Clearly not

He struggled in the 1st round here last year against Djok, no reason to panic

It's that Mediterranean sun - it always makes you frown - it can be blinding. TBH he always looks the same to me whether winning or losing - which of course is deliberate on his part - one exception being Rounds 1 and 2 at the AO where he was positively stroppy (for him).

He's been dominant for three years now. Even MacEnroe's reign came to an end. But he'll probably win a few more slams before he's done.

There´s nothing wrong with him. Maybe he didn´t play great tennis against Seppi, but he played well enough. He will raise his level when his opponents get tougher. You can´t expect the guy to be outstanding all the time. The losses against Canas were surprising, but nobody is unbeatable. I wouldn´t worry too much about Fed.

Every player is getting older, you know. It's not like Federer will play like he did in the past years until he's 30 or 35.
