The battle of the light forehands: Gonzalez-Andreev

Those two both wish they had heavy forehands, like, say, Bjorkman, it would be more suitable for clay, but one must go with what one has, and here they face each other in the 2nd round.

Gonzalez leads the head-to-head 3-1 with wins on clay, grass and hard but interestingly Igor won their last match on clay in Chile.

These two received instruction from Edberg on their forehand weaknesses, but they were unable to emulate the level of success he had with this shot. :x

I'm thinking Gonzo in 3 tough sets.

This would normally be a coin flip match, with both players hitting huge forehands back from Corsica, but I think that Fernando will be relying too much on his cute slice backhand and the shot will be eaten for lunch from Igor, so I go with Andreev in 3. By the way, both are far from their best level at the moment.

One thing is certain: Light forehands will ensue.

Andreev mainly cause he has been playing on the surface. Yes, they will be in Corsica trying to hit forehands at worst or at best they will be trying to hit off forehands from the casino.

Give it a TV court, that's all I ask.

That's good as you know he is one of these guys who needs to play a lot of tennis and he definitely has the tools to do well at RG or one of these TMS events.

Good that he is improved and hope it continues.

Thanks for that, I coudn't see either of these matches. Igor has entered Estoril, Rome and Hamburg and I don't know if he plays at the World Cup. Hopefully he will have match practice at RG and it will be interesting since he will be unseeded there.

:yeah: :haha:
Hmm, Igor is getting back on track but not at his best yet. I would still say Igor in 3.

Glad such a small thing can make your day, it's not like that wasn't obvious.

It's not like it makes my day or anything but now I got curious as of why you're an Igor fan?

Am I missing something? I thought Gonzo's forehand was his weapon. Or did he only hit heavy forehands at the AO? Because I don't remember ever seeing him play before the AO. I thought he hit pretty hard during the AO.
