Congrats Henman on losing to a guy who lost to Martin last week. You should be proud of yourself.

Ferrero showed a lot of his clay court pedigree from about 5-5 in that first set and was playing well by the end, certainly.

Tim did his best but with no help from the surface and a player on the other side very adept at exploiting the surface...well it was always going to be a tough ask. Tim did his best and played well at times but was perhaps a bit too predictable and Ferrero certainly was putting the ball in all kinds of difficult places by the end.

JCF had a stomach illness last week.

Henman choked in the 1st with bps to take the first set, and it went all down hill from there.

JCF will be so relieved that he won that one. That could have plunged him to new lows that even he would have never reached before. I don't know if he's still feeling a bit sick but he looked very tired and unsure of himself in that first set.

It's actually quite scary how close Henman came to winning that first set. This is so typical of clay matches. They can swing so easily one way or another.

Ferrero went 0-40 up on Henman's serve early in the first set and missed all of them. Had he taken one of them, it could have been a one-sided match. Then Henman had opportunities when he went 15-40 up on Ferrero's serve at 4-3. Had he taken one, he would have won the first set 6-3 and could have provided an incredible upset.

What a shame the natives didn't cook you in a pot and eat you.

Ferrero played awesomely. Henman was good at points, but Ferrero outplayed him. I love the crispness of Ferrero's shots and the power that goes along with the shots. ;)

I'm not sure just what it is that Tim thinks he can still achieve in tennis. He should hang up his boots and take up Davis Cup captaincy :yeah:

What a shame the natives didn't cook you in a pot and eat you.

They heard you're a WTA-defender and decided to cook you first.

True, Ferrero's forehand is a work of art. And his entire game used to be even crisper than what you saw today, so hopefully he can finally get that form back this year.

People here always find excuses for losses and they're always injuries. That's too much.

Never mind Tim. You need match practice and you are going to meet big clay court guns early on in TMS. You need to play a smaller tournament too. Anyway good luck in Rome!

That forehand is looking more and more like it does in Virtua Tennis 3.

Ah Virtua Tennis 3. I bought it just because you can play as Ferrero, and the game is fantastic!!! Juanqui even looks sexy animated!!!

As for the match, no surprises. I said to somebody in another thread that JC would win that match in 2 easy sets, they thought I was crazy, so thanks to JC for proving me right. And JC will beat his next round opponent too, no matter who it is. I'm hoping it's Massu though.

I'm hoping that one day Juan Carlos will get back to his old form.....he's flattered for so long now I wonder if it will ever happen. Still I live in hope. Good win against Henman yesterday yay!

I'm finally beginning to lose my faith in Tim. I know he sucks on clay, but if he doesn't shape up by Wimbeldon I'm gonna give up on him.
