Nalbandian was too good in the end, but good match from Luzzi before he began to tire.

Typical Nalbandian match... as he was truly awful for the first set, before actually remembering how to play tennis, and by the end of it, he looked like a top player

Reasonably easy win for him in the end though, well, as easy as it gets for Dave

Too bad Luzzi tired out after that wonderful first set!

Anyway - good job, Dave.

Dave could end up getting a very easy ride to the QF's if Murray withdraws, as he would have beaten 2 qualifiers, and then potentially a lucky loser, and he makes a MS QF... but knowing Dave, he'll make it hard for himelf by going a set down against all of them

"Earlier this month, I was playing the Davis Cup quarterfinals against Sweden on a very, very fast court," Nalbandian said. "I had to adapt to clay, which explains my slow start."

He sounded like he didn't practice at all between earlier this month and today.

Gotta love Fat Dave.

I was ...relieved to see him lose the 1st set. For a moment there I got scared he would come back from 0-4 :scared:

Keep it up David! :yeah: One of the commentators (I think it was Jason Goodall) commented in detail about the size of his stomach after locker room observations. They were trying to solve the mystery of David's lack of fitness and one of them mentioned slow metabolism among the possible reasons.

I wonder, what can be said in detail about his stomach? Very curious....

Too bad, I had Luzzi going to the QFs maybe a bit far for him? But I catn really see Nalbandian not making the QF now.
