After the first 3sets i didn`t thought about that kinda comback of Seb at all. Thought he was "dead" at that time.

Great final of Seb. Now i hope PHM will rock the house and take revenge for the better loss against Youzhny in DC, when he was already leading 2:0

Wonderful comeback from Grosjean; good to see he's still got this kind of tennis in him.

Now it's clear that it is Gasquet that should have been replaced with Clement, not Grosjean. :o

Funny how it works - a chance for PHM to undo the damage done in 2002 in the same scenario against the same player - though obviously that was for the cup. I wonder if he can step up and vanquish a few demons today.

Is it official Youzhny will play?

04-08-2007, 02:27 PM
No. Safin will play.

Jim Courier
04-08-2007, 02:27 PM
They were saying it was going to be Safin, who wasn't watching the match.
Grosjean was looking dead in the water after the 3rd set, great comeback. Broke early in the 5th with incredible forehands, very tight end of set and Grosjean managed it well.

I'm surprised it will be Safin, wasn't he carrying a foot problem?

Plus he lost to Mathieu the last time they played on clay last year in Monte Carlo.

Could prove risky if Paulo keeps his shit together.

Yeah, it is indeed Safin.

Awesome match.
What a great display from Grosjean. Some wicked running bh DTL winners and he stayed calm when there was a call against him in the 5th set which led to 15:30 in his serve game. (Seb stopped playing because according to him the ball was out, but the umpire checked the mark and called it in). So of course he refused to shake hands with the umpire when the match was over, because he was sure that the umpire had checked the wrong mark.

what do you want ?? he better put play kunitsin ??

Safin is very experienced.

Anyway, choke-time for Mathieu now.

Danielafrenchfan probably is. And me too, although you probably wouldn't want to have my recording due to my QAM 256 shaky picture problems. So I'll only offer my version if there's no other one.

Why the hell does sky have USA/SPAIN?

I've tried Star sports - is there any other live stream showing it?

Thanks

Because when they'll have decided which tie to cover, the USA Spain tie looked the best, with Roddick, Blake, Nadal, Robredo and the Bryans in the mix. Then Nadal pulled out and it all became a bit of a whitewash. Meanwhile Russia vs France looked likely to go Russia's way pretty comfortably, given Russia beat France 4-1 away last year at this stage. So they made the wrong pick, but an understandable one, in my view.

You make great posts but on this one I have to disagree. Nadal is shakey about appearing for Spain so there was never any guarantee he would show and Russia/France ties are always close and with drama. Tursunov is injured, Davy's not playing great neither is Safin so great potential for an upset.

I agree it looks like that NOW - and in retrospect the choice of clay by the Russians looks like a risky gamble, but they will have made the decision on which tie to cover several weeks ago, when Nadal was slated to appear - the doubts only came later.

I don't think it looks like that a month or two ago - everyone assumed Russia would give France a kicking at home but with Nadal against Roddick and Nadal against Blake it looked like the USA-Spain tie had some legs.

It's all moot now anyhow.
