Alonso - I love the thread title!!! :yeah:

I don't care if it's an exhibition either - he can work on his game with no pressure.

VAMOS NICO ALE! :rocker:

If River Oaks is anything like the Houston tournament, results will be difficult to get.

Sparko - get ready! You and I will be calling down to Houston this time! Thank goodness for lots of cell minutes.

That's what I thought at first too. But if he goes deep, he wouldn't be able to qualify for MC, verdad?

Question: doesn't Nano Zuleta have connections with tennis people in Houston? Which may be why Nico plays in Houston now and again (which really is kind of odd for a SA clay court specialist to play there.) Or have I completely lost my mind and am totally remembering incorrectly? If so, please completely disregard this.

ChinoRios4Ever
04-03-2007, 12:12 AM
i heard some things about the Nano Zuletas and Houston`s connectiton, in the past when he was coach of Hermes Gamonal, Phillip Harboe and Adrian Garcia (some chilean players) reach an agree to make some practice in the same club when Houston made the TMC some years ago....

Nico will enter Monte-Carlo for sure, he's only 4 spots OUT, and many players always withdraw from that tournament at last minute, see Roddick, Blake, Hewitt and many more...

NicoFan

Thanks! Good, my memory hasn't gone.

I'll be very surprised if ARod and James don't drop out of MC. Probably El Pescado too.

the american players droping out from a MS in clay?!?! nooooooo that never has happened before :p (yeah it was my turn to be sarcastic :p)

well actually I don't know if it would be good or not if Nico plays in Houston the next week, 'cause our french spy is going to be in Monte Carlo the weekend before the tournament and I want that she could see Nico for me :awww: but again, let's wait to see what happens here ;)

NicoFan you have a good memory but No1Rios memory is out of this world   ... and thank God for your minutes in your cellphone :p

VAMOS NICO!! :fiery:

because he mostly played futures and challengers. he qualified in wimbledon last year and lost in the first round against malisse.
at river oaks he also plays doubles with benjamin becker!
I don't think that nico will face any problems by beating him!
(knock on wood ;) )

TommyB.
04-03-2007, 09:51 AM
Dorsch has an own website. He was a good college player in the US. It seems he made a similar way like Benjamin Becker.

But Nico should beat him. ;)

alina1981

They both (Becker + Dorsch) studied at the Baylor University in Texas and were teammates over there. So Houston maybe is like their home-tournament. Anyway, Nico will beat him.
Does anybody know if Nico is playing doubles?

Thanks for the info. And I didn't know that Becker played college tennis in the U.S. You learn something new everyday.

Second Round

(1)Dmitry Tursunov (RUS) vs Ivo Karlovic (CRO)
(7)Ruben Ramirez-Hidalgo (ESP) vs Diego Hartfield (ARG)
(3)Robby Ginepri (USA) vs Mariano Zabaleta (ARG)
(6)Juan Monaco (ARG) vs (q)Dusan Vemic (SRB)

Albert Montanes (ESP) vs (4)Benjamin Becker (GER)
Victor Hanescu (ROU) vs (8)Michael Russell (USA)
Rainer Schuettler (GER) vs (2)Jurgen Melzer (AUT)

There's an article on chron.com, we have half of the today's oop:

"The tournament continues today with four seeded players in action.
Russell, the eighth seed, leads things off at 1:30 p.m. against Victor Hanescu, who received a first-round walkover when Vince Spadea pulled out with what he said was a sprained ankle. Top seed Dmitry Tursunov faces Ivo Karlovic at 5:30 p.m."

I think Nico should play too.

Why does our Nico always go to these freaking small tournaments with horrid web sites and bad/no live tickers?

Oh well if it helps him get ready for Monte Carlo, it's worth being frustrated. But why couldn't he have just gone to Valencia next week? :bigcry:

NicoFan you're very difficult to please  you keep saying that he should play small tournaments and challengers and now you want him on Valencia?!?! :rolls: ... tranquila! :p

Anyway the organization of this exhibition sucks but for once in my life the chilean press is helping us  according to emol Nico is playing tomorrow and he was the one asking to the tournament to play tomorrow since he got a delay with his flight and he even had to change planes in Peru where he called to the tournament to ask them to schedule his match for tomorrow, otherwise it seems that he was thinking to come back to Chile, so I guess that Nico didn't have a good and nice flight this time :o

Yeay that Nico is finally playing! :bounce:

But oh no about the flights. That means he's in a terrible mood, and who knows what his attitude will be like on court. I hope he tries - he really really really needs to get 2-3 matches on clay in before qualifying in MC.

Hopefully Nico won't have to qualify there - he definitely will in Rome and Hamburg because his ranking is lower now. But we won't know about MC until just before. Again, with Andy and James playing DC on hardcourt - they'll never go to MC. So just need 2 more.

NicoFan
04-08-2007, 06:13 PM
If Nico wins, he'll play Dima who beat Zab 6-1, 6-1.

Now why couldn't Nico play Zab???

VAMOS NICO ALE!

kidnicky
04-08-2007, 06:21 PM
Because Nico has no luck NicoFan

Hi Brahna and the rest :wavey: :p

and I have the same problem with MTF add that that I'm with a very very slow internet connection and you'd understand my frustration right now :o

VAMOOS NICO ALE VAMOS VAMOS VAMOOOOS!!!!!

It seems that Hanescu is still the fighter that Nico said once

NicoFan
04-08-2007, 06:26 PM
They are still playing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The woman said she went out and watched it for awhile, and said it's a great match.

And supposedly it's on serve in the 3rd.

So...I'll call again...

FIGHT NICO FIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!! :fiery:

kidnicky
04-08-2007, 06:30 PM
who is on serve?!?!

OMG I told you, that no matter what Hanescu's ranking is now, he is still a fighter just like Nico ... so whatever it happens this match was a really really good practice for Nico :yeah:

But now the advantage for taking the final is the russian that's resting right now

VAMOOOS NICO FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!!! :fiery:

p.s. didn't she tell you the score NicoFan??

NicoFan
04-08-2007, 06:32 PM
She didn't know the score - she said when she left they were on serve.

This is good for Nico - but for his confidence, it will be better if he figures out a way to beat Hanescu.

And yes, whoever wins, has to play a very rested Dima who probably didn't have to break a sweat playing Zab.

kidnicky
04-08-2007, 06:36 PM
they were on serve?!?! what the hell is that?!?! they're not playing doubles!!! :retard:

hopefully Nico will beat Hanescu, oh my poor Nico

VAMOS NICO FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!! :fiery: :fiery:

Brahna - I am ignoring her comment. I doubt the woman will say anything...but it would be funny if she did.

Kid - give it more than two hours. He'll have to rest for a couple of hours (plus there's the doubles final now), and it will take a couple hours to play the match.

kidnicky
04-08-2007, 07:19 PM
I knew that she was ignoring my comment ... don't worry I'll have plenty to say to Nico the next time and the best thing is that she's going to be there with me so NicoFan wouldn't ignore me that time

Thanks for the tip NicoFan, meanwhile I'm gonna watch a movie, I won't tell wich one is it otherwise you're going to laugh at me :tape: :p

But I'm starting to worry - the score isn't posted yet, and none of the Chilean press is reporting anything.

I'm going to call there after 7:00 NY time to see about the final.

(Cooperativa.cl)

Nico played Hanescu - and someone posted the score in the exhibition thread.

The woman I talked to told me that she watched part of that match and that it was a great match.

I'm going to call down there - I tried a little while ago and was put on hold for a long time - I'm going to call again.

I gave up - I'll try calling again in about 15 minutes.

Obviously the match against Hanescu was a tough match.

But he was beating Tursunov so easily...maybe he was cramping? But it's unusually cold in Houston this weekend - so it's not like it's hot or anything.

I'm so worried. I don't trust Cooperativa because they were wrong about the Hanescu match.

I have a friend that might have gone to the match - she said she would go today if Nico was playing - but she doesn't have a cell.

:bigcry:

NicoFan
04-08-2007, 11:35 PM
The official web site didn't post Nico's result against Hanescu on the results page, but it is on the draw page. So Nico did play Hanescu - Cooperativa was totally wrong on that.

I keep getting put on hold.

I bet that they've left and put the wrong recording on.

There's no reason that their phones should be this busy after the tournament has ended. It's just a small tournament.

I guess we won't know until tomorrow.

This just sucks. I'm so upset.

Neither good comes from Texas...and this is no exception.

I checked the Houston Chronicle, the main newspaper in Houston - nada.

Nothing on terra or latercera. No update or correction on Coopertiva. I'm annoyed with them - they have Nico's dad's phone number - call it for goodness sake and get the scoop.

And I was going to call the Houston tournament because they might know - and the freaking site doesn't come up.

It's getting too late to get any info - the best again would be the Chilean papers calling Don Manuel. Nico calls him as soon as his matches are finished. Don Manuel knows what happened.

This is so annoying ... and I'm worried about my pumpkin. :bigcry:

Okay...Cooperativa corrected the info about the Hanescu match and put this as why our sweetie retired:

El chileno debió abandonar, por un problema muscular.

Does that mean cramping?

kidnicky
04-09-2007, 01:03 AM
a muscle problem ... but again this means nothing for me 'cause it could be cramping or it could be another thing and they didn't say in what muscle or in what part of daaaaaaaaaaamn!!!! WE NEED MORE INFO!!! :bigcry:
