Jordan telling Kerr in a timeout during the 1997 NBA finals, game 6, to be ready because he will get the ball if Jordan is double-teamed. Jordan played his entire career against double teams and could have gotten off his shot nevertheless, but he passed out of it and trusted his teammate who had a better look than him to sink the decisive shot for the Championship. I was equally fed up about the Jordan talk as I am with Federer, but this was a big play that simply deserves credit and it could have been only better if the series was at 3-3 with exactly no time left at all as Kerr's shot went through.

:haha: I was going to post the exact same thing.

This is probably one of the most memorable sporting moments I've ever seen, I'm not even a Man Utd fan (far from it) but it was truly unbelievable.

No doubt a great shot, but does not qualify as a greatest sports moment ever for me because it only decided one game in a first round playoff series. And at the end the Lakers did not even advance and Phoenix were the hero coming back in this series. IMO it would more fit the category "Kobe's best plays" or "Kobe's top 10 game winners".

Yeah, maybe not an all-time great moment, but a great moment for a Lakers fan, like me.

some good ones, Eden :yeah:
especially Hannawald winning all four jumpings of the 4 hills tournament will probably stand for a while because the four jumps are of different types!

And what a great mention of Germany winning the Eurobasket 1993 as a total surprise. Definitely a very underrated achievement as they did not have the player material, but they made use of their home court advantage (BTW, they won it against Russia in the final I believe). Christan Welp :worship:

But Hannawald nearly lost his record to Janne Ahonen shortly after. I don't remember exactly the year in which he won 3 of the 4 events.

Yes, you are right the final was against Russia and the semi against Greece. Welp had been voted to the MVP of the tournament.

Henning Harnisch, Michael Koch, Christian Welp - what a great team :worship: Just imagine we would have had a Nowitzki at that time already ;)

Arsenal have to win 2-0 away at Anfield in the final game of the season in order to win the league from the Scousers. 1-0 and in injury time and the commentators are already talking of Liverpool as champions. Then Michael Thomas steps up.

There are four moments who are very special to me:

1.-) Argentina winning the gold medal in basketball. I still can't forget Ginobili's shot in last second of the first game against "cheating" Serbia

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUlpc6S96kk

2) Maradona's goal against England in 1986 World Cup.

3) Caniggia's goal against Brazil in 1990 World Cup.

4) The end of the curse, after the msot amazing comeback in history: Red Sox 2004

I also have to admit that when those "bastard united" beat the Bayer Munchen in the last thre minutes of the game was quite special.
