wooooooooooooooot!

Tangy and I made a thread on it at EXACTLY the same time in GM. LOL

LOL Jace. Great minds think alike. ;)

But I am speechless. Stunned. In awe. At some point in the third set, I don't know when, I had stopped cheering and just let my jaw hit the floor without bringing it back up. I don't think Andy's played that well at USO or even Nasdaq! Is that even possible?

I mean, he really was SCARY to behold. A good kind of scary but not the kind of scary I'd ever want to face off with in a match like Bjorkman had to! :scared:

Incredible, Andy. Just wonderful. :worship:

I know, tangy! I was in the chat with Naldo and Renata and was just continually "OMG OMG" they didn't know if it was good or bad I don't think LMAO!

He may be posing next to his good buddy, Getronics, several more times in the future. Such good friends. ;)

bet on him to break his own record in the next Davis Cup tie again

I'm a little skeptical of these speed detectors, but I can't prove they are wrong any more than I can prove they are right...

Well I'm a little annoyed because Jonas returned that serve cleanly, thus breaking Andre's record from Queen's club. ;)

I think everyone accepts that the Getronics guns run faster than the IBM ones used at most of the regular tourneys. But I know that SpotShot measures things several MPH faster than those too and the commentators have often talked about how the systems like Getronics and ShotSpot that are measured with multiple cameras around the court are supposedly even MORE accurate. So, really, who knows :)

MisterQ
04-12-2004, 06:25 AM
Interesting, so there IS a difference between systems.

well one thing does seem certain, even if we are skeptical of specific numbers: Andy is serving a hell of a lot faster than everyone else!

J. Corwin
04-12-2004, 06:26 AM
Andy may have actually served faster in the past but was never recorded by the appropriate numbers. ;)

Deboogle!.
04-12-2004, 06:27 AM
Yes, Q, that he is!!!

and yes, Jace, that's possible ;)

LOL. I thought the exact same thing, Q! Poor Andre. Another record goes :explode:

And regarding the questionable workings of speed guns: fact is nobody's even come close to serving as hard and fast as Andy so whether it's 147 or 152, he still holds the record. :)

Deboogle!.
04-12-2004, 02:43 PM
well actually PimPim came pretty close in the Aus/Swe tie. I think he served a few faults that were up there :) But yea.... not good serves lol

152mph

Wow! Very impressive... more and more faster.

In km/h, it's 244,6 I think. If someone can confirm this number is right.

Deboogle!.
04-12-2004, 06:35 PM
yes that's correct, it read 244kph

Ya just don't get it do you?

They alter the speed guns when Andy serves. For everyone else, it remains the same.

jeeze... some people!

Well if it's 147, then he wouldn't hold the record. Greg Rusedski served up a 149mph one at 1998 Indian Wells. That's still the record in the Guiness Book of World Records until the new one comes out for 2004.

Deboogle!.
04-12-2004, 10:37 PM
And of course don't forget Andy's 149 at Queen's with the "old" guns :)

J. Corwin
04-12-2004, 10:43 PM
Yea, but that's not as special since someone before him had already done it. It's not record breaking like Greg's was.

Deboogle!.
04-12-2004, 10:47 PM
I know, but I'm just saying that it's not like andy hasn't come close to 150 on a "regular" speed gun :) I mean one or two or three mph faster... so what (except for record-breaking purposes of course!) :)

personally, I could not care less about record setting speeds on his serve.

It is possible that he could set a record and lose a match. That wouldn't be cool with me.

It's more important that he serve well. I don't think 2 miles per hour either way really makes a difference.

04-12-2004, 11:05 PM
true star. but thing is he's still winning those matches when he busts out the record-breaking speeds:D and plus, it's not too shabby to set a record in the world of tennis:drive:

Deboogle!.
04-13-2004, 01:27 AM
star, I tooooooooooootally agree. But luckily he's done it when he's been playing great :)

I guess the thing is - if his arm is doing well enough to serve that fast, he's probably serving well overall.... y'know?

Carito_90
04-13-2004, 01:42 AM
Yeah i mean.. andy has already beaten so many times his own speed serve record that he probably doesn't mind if he does it again or if he never breaks it again lol
You could totally tell because of his face in the pic with the speed serve thing (i dunno the name lol) next to him. He was like "okay just take the pic and let me go with my friends duh! i mean, i've just WON THE QF OF THE DC!! LET ME GO YOU BASTARD!!" (okay that's too much to think while takin a pic right  ?)

zoltan83
04-13-2004, 01:53 AM
Right. It's more important that Andy serve well during a match and win this match than losing her match after beatin his own record.
But Andy could pay attention : one day, the radar will be broken lol

All I meant is I DON"T CARE about whether the speed gun is correct or anything like that because I DON"T CARE if he has the EXACT record because it really doesn't matter at all in the end.

OH, you meant about the truth behind the speed gun and how it records the service speeds. gotcha:yeah:

first of all...sorry that i wasn't online for the match. had to go to church even though it was raining and then my mom and i went to a party (total bore) and today we just dropped off my brother at college and then we went to new york.
second of all...can i say how proud i was of andy while watching that match? i was utterly amazed and i just couldn't wipe the grin off my face. :D so happy... lol
third of all......ok there is no third of all so i'm going to go to sleep cause i have to go back to school tomorrow. night everyone! :wavey:
