A bit of a puzzler there.

Gasquet clearly the superior player in that match - except for a 25 minute brain fart that was the second set.

He needs to cut that out.

Well, I felt that Seb was good enough to take a set off him, but I didn't expect that type of scoreline :tape:

A bit of immaturity there in the second set. He likes to tank sets which he thinks he has no chance of winning. :cuckoo:

Canas/Ferrero next. Wouldn't be surprised if he lost.

weird match. wonder how gasquet can explain this bagel?

Damn, I wish Grosjean would give one last brilliant performance in a big tournament.

Strange display from Gasquet. Some pretty good net play though.

Cañas - Gasquet should be interesting...

The first serve was non-existant and the rest of the game went with it. Besides, there were some FH beauties from Grosjean. But in the end it was a win, even if not a beautiful one. Two years ago he would have lost this match, I am rather sure. ;)

:haha:
yeah I must admit it was not pretty even though I was rooting for gasquet.
well, but a win is a win. well done richie. you were lucky to play with grosjean who is one of the best chokers.
however, Serena-somebody match would've been more appropriate for ATP than this.

The most important is win , but second set was
I hope he will get some lighter draws because comparing his draw to Djoko in IW and Miami is  and of course he was the one who got Canas as a Q in first rounds  I hope he will rise his level a little , otherwise Canas will beat him

Gasquet got annoyed at the spectators when they would not get in their seats on time, and it pretty much caused him to gift the second set to Grosjean.

Good to see that he got his head together in the 3rd though.

Thats why Gasquet will never win a slam.

Too many UE from both players.

Particually Seb in the 1st and 3rd. Gasquet had alot in the 2nd, thats why he got bagled.

Seb had his chances once he broke back early in the 3rd, but all the UE creeped into his mind and the rest is history.

:tape: He'd probably be ripped by Canas if he has that kind of concentration dip/tank job. Ferrero might be easier, because Ferrero can be prone to chokes the past couple years.

what's the fuck with Richie recently??!!
to take a bagel against the current Grosjean is a disgrace for any top 100 player, let alone a top 20.

Yeah, not sure what was up in that second set. Hopefully he got that out of his system for the next round.
He seemed to get distracted because he was serving first off the change of ends and he was having to wait for the crowd to settle.

Even so, it's totally unprofessional to let it bug you to that sort of extent. He mentally completely took his foot off the accelerator.

That was one ugly match until Gasquet finally decided to take it in the end. Grosjean had more aces and winners and less double faults and unforced errors. :o

Mmm...not sure what went on there  why can't Gasquet win a match 6-1, 6-3 or something ? He doesn't have the stamina to go all the way so better shorten the points and not play longer than is absolutely necessary

I watched them practice together before the tournament, before they knew they would be so close in the draw! But well on Richard, I want him to have a really strong TMS result again.

But I'm not crazy about the bleached hair.

He saw how far Murray and Nadal went in IW last week so he's copying thier style.:p

So? Grosjean was giving him a string of UEs in parts of the first and third sets so why go for too much?

BTW, Grosjean had one more winner and one less UE and you have to remember the 6-0 set.

I'm watching the replay on StarSports now, and Gasquet is playing very well (although it is still the first set.) Grosjean has his share of winners but so far more errors.

Gasquet's forehand is :help:
His forehand is really getting worse in every matches and that's very worrying to say the least

it's a shame because i thought he had improved his forehand last year but this year,it has gone backward

It was not a great preformance but a win nonetheless. Its Canas next and I'm really expecting him to win this one. I think Canas' game won't bother Gasquet too much.

So Gasquet faces Canas now- he definitely cannot afford going walkabout with him he will get punished if he does that.

Should be an interesting match.
