Too bad for Igor, but it is a nice win for Samuel.

but Sam will now face Federer  :p

It might provide some motivation. To get to see first hand what the best is like.

Sammy hasn't played a lot of TBs this year. I assumed he would have.

Federer will possibly be happy with this result. Andreev could have given him a stern test but Querrey will most likely be cannon fodder for him.

Excellent effort from Sam. He seems to be going in the right direction. Next round, nothing to lose. :yeah:

Federer matches up too well with Sam. It will be a miracle greater than Rulon Gardner over Kerelin at Sydney2000 if Sam beats Federer on a slower hardcourt (or any hardcourt for that matter).

Good win for Sam, but he should look at his inability to close out matches, his serve is too good for this to happen frequently. Igor is far from his best but this result provides an answer to those claiming that Miami plays exactly like clay.

Querry should have an easy match up next with some Federer scrub.

Yeah, Federer now likes partying and playing celebrity. That will be an easy victory in straights for Sam, who's definitely on the wave

What's wrong with Igor? :(
Wasn't his BH working?
And don't give me this 'back from a long injury break you cannot expect stability" crap any more.

I would've loved a Fed-Igor match. Damn. :(

I don't think Sam is without chances against Fed, Roger has lost first meetings to young guys many times. It would have been better for Querrey if Roger hadn't lost early in IW though, he will probably be a bit more fired up than usually in R2.

Do your best, Sam! Go for it! Don't defeat yourself before the match even starts.

Common teenager ailment. Not massively concerning.

This Querrey has the bright future ahead... in the States. he's barely played outside the states, but he put up a nice result in Australia. How can you tell he'll only be good in the states  He's even entered Estoril next month. Pretty impressive for a ball-bashing American

I've got the feeling he isn't able to play well on the clay courts but we'll see... Of course he could to make the good results in European tournaments on carpet but instead of playing in (e.g.) Marseille and Rotterdam he'll probably always chooses San Jose and Memphis

But at least he's trying, which is more than can be said for a lot of Americans.

I mean of course he's going to play in the US when he has the chance (especially San Jose/Memphis because the surfaces are basically the same as Marseilles and Rotterdam anyway), I mean that's a no-brainer and IMO not a really good example. But he chose to enter Estoril. I think that's a really huge step to at least putting forth the effort. I mean his game is not good for clay, but he's gonna try to do it anyway. You have to give credit where it's due and just see where he develops.
