As much as I dislike brad gilbert Murray has improved since he has hooked up with him. One of the most annoying things about the pairing is watching one of murray's matches. It's all the commentators can talk about. I swear I see more of gilbert in the stands than murray actually playing...gag!

Exactly, all he he cares about is his own importance. If he gets more famous for taking Andy to number 1 another one under his belt. Could he act the least bit interested in Andy's game while in the stands.

I wasn't referring only to this thread. There have been quite a few.

I don't know what his coach's excuse is, but Murray is still young. Maturity can be extremely difficult to find. No that it's acceptable, more that it's excusable.

As one announcer said "What does Murray expect Brad to do in the stands, wave pom poms?" Murray is a gutsy, but a bit immature player. It may take some time, but perhaps Brad can snap him out of it. What did McEnroe say about Brad in his book? What I remember about Gilbert as a player was that he was not very talented, but did his best to try to win. McEnroe is noone to criticize anyone^s personality!

Are you dumb or are you stupid?

No matter who Gilbert propels to success, people always fail to understand that Gilbert: 1) Was a great tennis player, 2) Is a great coach, 3) Has a weird personality, but it doesn't make him a bad person, selfish, or fame-grubbing (no clue if that's a word).

I agree - but it probably took 20 civil servants a year and £20,000 to get that sign done and now they are going to have to do it all again plus hire management consultants to figure out how it could also go so badly wrong and ensure it never happens again. Consultants fee £100k.

It would be funny if it wasn't realistic and I wasn't so bitter about our shambles of a government.

Feel better after that as well. Thanks.

Brad was very famous before he started coaching Andy due to his career with Agassi and Roddick. As huge Andy Murray fan I would even go as far to say he is more famous than Murray.

I think gilbert is probably a little annoying and strange...hardly a reason to "hate" him though. I think that especially the people who remember Brad when he was a player find it difficult to forget just how...hideous his game was. But as ugly as he played, nobody can deny that he's an EXTREMELY clever tennis tactician. The very things that made him such an awful tennis player make him an outstanding coach.

And lets face it...in terms of coaching, there are few that can claim as much success as Gilbert.

Oh, you conclude it because you conclude it. Well that makes sense, then.

What we can all conclude is that you are guilty of that which you accuse others of - taking your own perception of someone and presenting it as fact, while criticising others for doing it - in your view.

Honestly, if you were at all self-aware, you'd probably be embarrassed at such blatant double standards, but I doubt you are self-aware enough.

I didn't say he is or isn't a famewhore - only that you criticised someone for saying he isn't, while saying he is - when you have no more proof or evidence than the other guy did. You act like you know better than he does. Neither of you do. Deal with it.
