It's doubtful because the guy was wearing diadora, not adidas. All the pics I have with Phillip, he wears adidas.

Yeah, that was what confused me (and the racquet too). Puma (I think) not wilson. I did see him training with some germans in melbourne... hmm... Thanks for the help though Lee! I spoke to him... but I never asked who he was! Argh! lol...

I can't see from your pic here but Philipp has a big mole on his left eye brow. Did you notice it on that guy?

Here's his big mole pic.

I don't remember... all i recall is a tall guy, in red that I was constantly running into...
How old is Kohlschreiber? Because I got the impression this guy was young... maybe around 20yrs old. Might have to wait until next year, then I can track him down and ask who he is... hehe... I'm going to bed now... (Glad to see Germany are through!)

It turrns out the guy in the photos I took was the runner up at the US Open Juniors! Sergiy Stakhovsky. He's not from Germany... Ukraine actually! If you look at the pics you can see him wearing the same jewellery/chains. I'm so happy that I finally know who he is!!! It only took me 9 months to figure it out :D

solid win for Kohlschreiber against Lisnard, 7-5 6-3 6-2
he will play the 4th round match against Roddick now
everything else than a (clear) loss would be a big surprise, but he has already done very well here... I'd never expected this!

Yeah, it was really close! I watched. Söderling was all wacky about the grass, but his play was terrible as well. Philipp should have beaten him in straight sets... That's what Robin thought as well... he was throwing his arms in the air when he won the second sets, like he'd already won the match... He couldn't believe it either, because his play was crap. Philipp showed some great hits by the way... promising for Wimby next week! :yeah:

Tennis-German Kohlschreiber beats Youzhny to win Munich title
Sun May 6, 2007

MUNICH, May 6 (Reuters) - Local favourite Philipp Kohlschreiber landed his first ATP title by upsetting Russia third seed Mikhail Youzhny 2-6 6-3 6-4 in the Munich Open final on Sunday.
The unseeded Kohlschreiber, playing in his first final, looked in danger of being blown away by the more powerful Youzhny in the first set on the Munich clay but he hit back to take the second in 40 minutes and force a decider.
The 23-year-old German, who lives a few minutes down the road from Munich in Oberhaching, saved a break point in his first service game in the third set and the escape gave him a further jolt of confidence.
He played superbly to break his opponent in game five, producing a fine, deep volley to set up two break points and taking the first when Youzhny's poor attempt at a drop shot sailed into the net.
Kohlschreiber missed three match points when serving for the title at 5-4, as Youzhny sent two brutal crosscourt drives back past him before forcing an error on the German's backhand on the third.
He was handed another chance when Youzhny slightly overhit another vicious backhand across court and this time took it as the Russian's service return drifted long.
Kohlschreiber is the first German to win the Munich Open since Michael Stich in 1994.

Add me as a new fan! First match I saw of Philipp's was his battle v Roddick (until 2.30am in Melbourne!). I don't like Roddick anyway but the way Philipp handled Roddick's abuse towards the umpire, the crowd and to Philipp was very admirable. He fought like a man and his tennis was just unbelievable. The result against Neimenen was disappointing. I wish I was watching him now instead of the match on tv - Radal v Neimenen.

I just saw Kohli has withdrawn from Marseille, do you know the reason? I hope he's fit for the DC? ^^
Otherwise, the tie will turn into a big joke with the rest of the team being Mayer, a sick Berrer and Petzsche on clay in singles.

timoe

I would say that he's fit and therefore plays Daviscup is the reason why he has withdrawn from Marseille. ;)

I know he will play, he has to, but I was wondering if he's not feeling fully fit and if that's the reason why he prefers to rest after the DC. They really can't afford any other sick player now without Kiwi on the team.

I just LOOOVE his playing doubles with Youzhny as they are my two favorite players, this is incredible for me.

He could have won against Rafa In the end of the match, I don't why he held back like that.. I'm wondering what effect his "new" status has, and how it impacts on him.. too much pressure ?? (now he's beginning to face the defending point period ??) I'm not sure..

Had he been in the top form he was in the beginning of the year, he could have suprised all of us against Nole.. like he did against Roddick at the A.O.
But he's slightly under what he's capable of.. so I don't know..

I soooo wish he could win.. :wavey:

Now I feel worry for the german dc team because none of the singles players are in good form.

Yes, that's true.. But Kohl seems to heat up in Davis Cup, so we have to wait and see. :o

He's self destructing against Ferrer in the 2nd and 3rd set right now. can't get a first serve in for the life of him. serving at 18% at the moment in the 3rd.:help:

6:1 6:0 against David Ferrer, who's mind was very far from the court.
I hope Philipp will do better at the WTC than in the last two years when he only managed to win one match.

Six years ago it was right here in Düsseldorf when he made his first step into the spotlight playing a quiet solid match against Alex Correjta (losing 3:6 4:6).

It's hard to gauge how he's playing nowadays. he almost beat davydenko and robredo. In both of those matches, he seemed to be in control and then eventually lost. Today, it sounds like anybody could have beaten Ferrer. So it's really hard to predict how he would fare in Roland Garros. He's gonna be unseeded (most likely). I hope for a good draw!

Question: does he have a tattoo on his right arm? I saw a picture of it. The pattern was so cool looking that it almost looks fake.
