I am desperately searching for a quality scan of the old 'new balls please' campaign.

Does anyone have the group shot lleyton, safin, guga ect with the text "new balls please".. Ive found a couple with "The new establishment" headline, but I'm trying to find "new balls".

sorry to spam, but ive been searching to no avail and need it for an assignment.

I only found one with Safin, Hewitt and Ferrero.

I don't think this is going to help you, but it is a good chance to remember that campaign...

Some players who were part of it: Gustavo Kuerten, Marat Safin, Lleyton Hewitt, Jan-Michael Gambill, Tommy Haas, Juan Carlos Ferrero, Nicolas Lapentti, Mariano Zabaleta :D and Roger Federer.

Various taglines were used in the campaign, reflecting the players on the advert they were on. The original tagline was predictably 'New Balls Please.', but the tagline was changed regularly.

How do you like me now?
Tennis anyone?
Battle of the Ages
New champions!
Who's next?
Some taglines used the player's names, advertising the player(s) in the picture (eg Kid Roddick) or 'rivalries' between players (eg Kuerten vs Safin).

That was a little bit strange coz Norman & Kuerten are almost 5 years older than Hewitt

Another one...

the "A Bercy, on vous prend" one always cracks me up. I wonder if they had thought about the other meaning :tape:

Where is Roddick on all those pics? He was surely one of the new balls too? Although maybe it was a year later...but Americans not included in campaigns like this I find strange.

Yes, the campaign was in 2000 and Roddick began to play very well in 2001.

Roddick joined the New Balls later. He was the youngest player of the campaign if I remember well.

Great pictures, thanks. :)

Not sure what happened to JMG. Injuries, perhaps? He reached #14 in the world I think...after that he stalled.

Old thread but I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who posted pics of this great campaign. :wavey: ATP no longer has the newballsplease.com site available, I recall that it was a very successful campaign. It's still a far superior campaign than the lame "Feel It", that's for sure.

After watching Andy and Lleyton play their semifinal tonight I was feeling kind of nostalgic for the "New Balls" who are now the Middle Aged Balls. Pretty soon they'll be Old Hanging Balls. Time flies.

If anybody has any good scans of the new New Balls from L'Equipe I'd love to see them. Thanks. :)

I remembered Guga said he's not exactly a new ball but middle ball at that time.

And that marked the beginning of the end of Guga's career

yep... shin splints in 2004-2005, shoulder injury late 2005 all the way through 2006, low back injury... he still has not officially retired, I don't know what he's still hanging on for. But hey, at least he's taking better pictures these days. He wasn't very fond of that campaign, horrible 'up nostril' photos of most of the guys.

Here's the only photo from that campaign I sort of like...

Lol. It's so sad that 26 is middle aged in tennis. I need to sit down - I feel old.

:haha: Tangy pushing on the balls image

It was a great campaign, they can duplicate it every few years without problem (although I agree with JMG: change the pose ;))
Of course right now, the smartest & most effective move would be to market The Rivalry to death ...

Never really knew people stood up at computers.

All of these pictures are great, the recent one is embarassing.
