In my dreams, Safin. In reality Federer. I just can't see him failing to win a title at two consecutive non-clay events.

I really adore Marat, but I hope his allergy to Miami continues if Nico plays him in the 2nd round. Nico really needs this.

I picked RAFA to win the entire thing! :yeah:

Sad but true. He seems allergic to playing well in the US on a consistent basis all together. Poor thing...god bless him and his wacky Hippo Brain!

Federer wins this one.

Nadal d. Federer in the final...

This will be the begining of '06 all over again. Nadal's always had a less than stellar hardcourt showing, and I think he was running on pure adrenaline in '05 during his Canada/Madrid sweep period...Note his lost to Blake in between those two events on fast hardcourt and his lost to Berdych at Cincinatti during the same period, and it is plain to see that his results of late (with the Pacific as the exception) do not suggest a drop in his play, only a plateau. The last two matches against Federer were on *extremely* fast surfaces and even so were closer than Federer probably would have liked. I say the Miami final, in the Miami heat, goes to the young Spaniard. I really believe he is begining to see some fruit from the adjustments he's made, and while he will probably always have a slight vunerability against the *winner after winner from the baseline* type players, I think his ratio against them will start to be more like 50/50 this year, rather than the 0/100 he's been experiencing.
In any case, his game is still a great technical match-up against Fed, and I think Fed's play has dropped just a bit from clay season last year to now. I hope they do get to meet again in Miami on what is a more "fair" surface than they have met on since their 3-setter at Dubai last year. Should be good...

I think Roddick can beat Nadal this time. Let's not forget Roddick played a crappy match (http://www.triplematchpoint.com/story.php?title=YouTube--Nadal-vs-Roddick-MS-Indian-Wells-2007-SF) against Nadal. Having said that, I would love to see Nadal lose his first round match :) It'd be awesome to see how his reaction will be. I bet he will say, my leg is not 100% no? My hip hurts again cause Djokovic's match killed me no? My Uncle was not here no?

Wimbledon was supposedly playing slower than ever and Shanghai wasn't that fast of a surface either, slower than Dubai actually. The heat won't phase Federer if that's what you're also trying to get at since he trains in hot weather to prepare for this and how has his play dropped off from the clay season? If anything he's gotten better, especially with the backhand.

Also remember he did beat Nadal in Miami before, though most people will say it probably didn't mean much since it was Nadals first big final.

Are you implying that Rafa lies?

Rafkullz would never-ever lie to save his face, no? He's not like that. If he's not 100% fit, he'll say that but the boy is so effortlessly charismatic that his true words feel like concoction. He was actually hurt after the AO match against Andy Murray but it feels like a lie because of sheer bad timing, that's all.

I personally think Rafa might just win this tourney because his grip on the surface is much better, provided he passes the trio of Younzhy-Blake-Berdych if they are part of his draw.

Who's in his draw anyway?

I would love to see an Ivanisevic-type of run at one of the important tournaments, but I don't think he wants it badly enough.

I gather a lot of people would, myself included. Unfortunately, waiting for Marat to get it together is as successful as a one legged man trying to win a butt kicking contest.

I love the guy, but now it seems as though he is going as far as he can on natural talent alone, financing a lifestyle, but not putting forth the extra effort necessary to win big again. Amazing, with a lukewarm approach that he can STILL be around #25 in the world.

That being said, if he ever does win big again, there will be a long line of us joining him in celebration. :)

You had better believe that Federer is going to come back in this tournement with both guns blazing, so I think Federer will win this. He's certainly had plenty of time to rest too, and even pay Tiger a visit.
