Lefty problems

Can some one please explain to me, as slow as possible so I can really understand this, what does being a lefty have to with anything.

For example everyone always talks about how nadal being a lefty has so much to do with giving other players problems. Why is it so difficult for right hand players.

I get that being a lefty allows you to put more spin on the ball but why does the way Nadal play cause so much trouble for righties.

thanx

left handers rally crosscourt with their forehand to a right handers backhand, so to their weaker shot. and with the extra spin it bounces higher making it difficult to return unless you take it early

That is because we southpaws are inherently superior to you right handers, are more intelligent and more creative :p

Speaking of lefties, Nadal switched back to his old service motion this week. Can anyone tell me when he changed it last year? Was it before or after Wimbledon?

Also the spin is different esp on serve

It was around the time of Madrid TMS that he began to change it I think (hence the injury causing him to withdraw from Paris ), and then he continued to develop it during the off season.

You cancel yourself out.

You're half-superior and half-inferior.

Meaning that you don't exist.:D

one would think that its the same for the right hander when he is playing a left hander, since both can serve the slice out wide on the to backhand. and both can rally with their crosscourt forehand against the opponents backhand. but the thing is that lefties are used to playing righties, when on the other hand it takes a right hander a little time from every match to get used to playing a leftie.

i have to admit that actually is true. it has been found that left handed people are more creative, empathetic and in a lot of instances more intelligent than right handers. so RonE, science backs up your, at first, ridiculous sounding claim

Why is Super-Rafa leading with his right hand?

You should have inverted the image on Photoshop. :D

Well I am a rightie so intelligence is obviously in our favor.

By being left handed a player is able to hit their forehand crosscourt into an opponents backhand, also it is easier for them to slice there serve to a rightys backhand in the ad courts. Since most big points occur on the ad side, this is a huge advantage. A righty can also hit their forehand to a leftys backhand, and slice their serve into the lefty backhand on the deuce side.

This isn't as effective for a righty though, this is due to the fact that a lefty plays right handed players almost every time they play. They are used to rightys using these tactics against them. A right anded player almost never has to return a slice serve to their backhand on the ad. The spin is weird for them and it is hard to adjust.

Hopefully that helps.

Wow, so they should start making all babies left-handed in future
A new scientific fact: right-handedness is a genetical disorder

The extra spin is the main problem right handers face when facing a lefty. You have to construct points differently when facing a lefty because that inside out forehand plays right into his forehand, so you have to hit it well if you decide to go there because you are giving up alot of court.

Rafa is a natural right hander hence Super Rafa leads with the right arm.

the sidespin on a lefty forehand jumps away from the righty player's body when hit to his backhand. the lefty kickserve is pretty ruthless as well as it's spin can bring the ball into the body

also, lefty's named Nadal are just better than everyone else :p

Being left handed does not make you hit with more spin, wtf

Being left handed is an advantage, because lefties are only 1/10 of the population, and are used to play against right handed players 9/10´s of tennis players.

While for right handed players, playing lefties is something they rarely do and find it all very uncomfortable.

Left handed players are used to open serves to their backhand, right handed players not.

Being a lefty player doesn't worry James Blake or Bjorkman, well in Bjorkman's case his father played left handed and explains why his backhand is so good as he was used to facing lefties from a young age,

if you're responding to me, you're really a tennislurking retard. if not, then carry on :)

edit: ok I see you're talking to fedex. yeah, there's no "extra" spin. wtf?!

I was not respoding to you, I didnt read the second page before posting.

Now I see TeamID posted pretty much the same as me.

I was disagreeing with people who think lefties hit with "more spin", as if one extremity hits with more spin than the other.
