Never looked like losing, Murray nearly got Djokovic off by a injury time out, saved the two break points in the following game and took the rest of the match in his stride. He never had to do too much as Murray played pretty crap throughout.

I wish Murray had been 100% healthy so that this could be more satisfying, but regardless, a win is a win and it's impossible to not be happy about him being in a masters final :D

That said I don't get to see this match until 3 am (thanks ESPN!) so, I can't really comment yet, except for that I am absolutely overjoyed.

Kept the error count down unlike Haas, and Murray couldn't cope with the consistency. Obvious he wasn't 100% but Djokovic still deserves all the plaudits.

Deserved win for Nole. I feel really bad for Andy - clearly not playing at his best but Djoko played a very good, very calm match and deserved his win.

Glad that if Andy went out it was to him. Good luck in the final, Nole. :yeah:

Heal up for Miami, Andy - you've had a great week including two wins over top 10 players so nothing to be upset about.

Good solid match from Djokovic - Murray was clearly not moving as well as he can and he played S&V only in the 2nd set because of his ankle. Some nice points there and those 2 "chasing a lob and hitting a monster fh"- winner from Murray were awesome.

It's to be expected - some people are like a stuck record about him. It's a kinda warped obsession they have - best just to laugh and let them get on with it. They'll always be there, they'll never get new material but they'll always be funny expending so much energy on actively hating a guy for the simple reason that he's a threat to their favourite, or they dislike his appearance (the models on here have that opinion ) or simple jealousy in the case of a certain basher who likes to make up tall tales about him. ;)

You're having a laugh if you think he was fit - but believe it if you want. He's a faker, he lied, he's this, he's that, he's over-rated, a dud and all that.

Nole deserved his win, but if you think Murray was moving the way he normally does you need to have your eyes tested.

Congrats Nole for his first master series final and for making the top-10. Now he has nothing to lose tomorrow, regardless of the result I just want to see him coming out with conviction.

Andy had an excellent tournament with two very important wins against Davydenko and Haas, it is only a question of time when he breaks into the top-10. I hope he will recover completely for Miami.

It's really no different for any other player who gets a lot of headlines. The general rule (and this isn't about tennis this goes for everything in life) is that whenever something is praised there will be people standing by to criticise it to try and emphasise their own distinction from others. If Jesus, Muhammad and Shiva appeared on earth and granted eternal life to everyone on the planet there'd be a handful of people at the back of the crowd muttering about how "eternal life suckzzz!".

Not that there aren't perfectly legitimate reasons to dislike Murray as a player, but with every major player on this board there are a small group of dedicated "hatorzzz" who just post childish nonsense continually in the hope that someone will pay attention to them. That's how human beings work, it has little if anything to do with what Nadal, Federer, Roddick, Murray, Gasquet and whoever else do on a tennis court.

I know - I just find it pretty pathetic and sad. I mean what kind of sad case goes out his or her way to watch a guy play that they hate, then spend hours on a MB slagging them off and, in certain cases, making up blatant lies? It's just sad. There's guys I don't like - but I don't go out and bash them, I ignore them and try not comment on them because what exactly is the point of being one of those sad, bitter, pathetic individuals who hate everyone? Some of the abuse Murray gets on here you would think that he had stolen someone's girlfriend, kicked their granny, killed their dog, stole their car and then burnt down their house. You know - get a bit of perspective. It's only tennis, they are only athletes - no one here knows them so what the hell are they basing their hate on? A two hour tennis match every couple of days? As I said - I just find it pathetic.

i dont hate ANY of these players. I DONT know any of them.
I have NEVER said or implied any hate toward even my least liked player.
There are many of us here who just like to talk about the players game, if you feel that I or many others do so out of hate speaking for myself (and probably most of the others) you are very wrong.
Bashing a players game is not hate.
maybe you have a problem with associating the two but i most certainly dont.

If you bash a players game fine - I don't have a lot of problem with that, although to be honest a lot of that isn't based on fact but that's down to personal preference no matter how ridiculous it seems. But when it starts getting personal it's not about the game, is it? I don't really care - I find it funny to see it so I hope the haters don't stop. You can almost predict what certain people on here will post all the time. You just need to look at today where there were three different Murray bashing threads.

oo ..i didnt know who to cheer for. im really starting to like murrays game. its really fun to watch. i just wish he had more charisma. but i love his fiestiness. and djokovic is such a talent, though his comment in controlling the nadal match in the french last year is still so funny to me, ill never forget it. either way, whoever won wouldve been a good match with nadal. so i cant wait for tomorrow. the new guard of tennis has arrived ( only when federer doesnt play, or loses early..lol)

p.s
mens tennis is so much more interesting than the women right now. kuznetova/hantuchova just did not produce any intensity, crowd wasnt even into it. must say womens tennis is in a lull. and plus the ATP is starting to produce some cuties on the court.

I think so too.

I don't think people are unduly unfair to Murray as yet. I do think it irritates some people the amount of attention he gets, which in my opinion is unwarranted.

But let me say before some one claims I'm Murray bashing, I actually like him. I just think his tennis is fair from what others want to make it out to be, and still even further away from being a real contender for top ranking. And I do think the top 5 can hold off worrying about Murray for maybe the next 2 years

So far I have not seen the match. St. Patrick's day celebrating and all . . .
But I am surprised at the result. I am not particularly a fan of either Murray or Nole, but I certainly respect both of their talents. I thought Murray would take it. I presume he was a bit limited from his fall last night; will have to see the match replayed to know. Both are really good players, but I thought Andy's point construction would win the day. Instead it is Nole with his very considerable skills. So congratulations to Nole.

Next up Nadal. It will be interesting, for sure. I am hoping for Nadal but I in no way think it will be easy or even certain. The good news is, making it to the final is a great achievement. Winning the final is icing on the cake.

Anyway, on some other thread I will give my prediction. :secret:

Solid match for Djokovic, he's proven consistency is one of his better qualities and probably thats the big difference between these two. He's just so positive. Andy's body language was totally negative today, his movement and commitment were as unconvincing as I've seen them. Not sure how much he was affected by yesterday's crashes lol. I guess he's the up and down kind but thats part of his charm too. Great couple of FH winners from chasing back the lobs but hardly enough to get it going. No doubt in this moment Djokovic would have much better chance against Nadal in the final so I'm looking forward to a great match.

I see my fantasies of Djokovic injuring himself in this match and being forced to retire from the sport did not come to fruition. Now the final is perhaps one of the worst that can be imagined: two of the biggest pieces of scum in tennis facing off and we shall see them for many years to come. Tennis is the bigger loser than Murray in this one.

Dont tell me Muzza is injured? i didnt see the match... cant be from the Haas match, cos he got up and fought on like a warrior and won!
and tired is no excuse, condition is as important as anything in tennis, djoko won just as many matches as muzza to come to the SF, on the day... he had more than McHaggis & won.
but he will be back, he has more to improve/stengthen than most of the other 'young guns' IMO.

well, having been injured in the same manner many times, I can tell you that while competing, you're fine. The next day after the adrenaline wears off your leg and ankle feel like shit and it's difficult to put weight on it

Wow, really a good win for Nole... curious how different they are. Even their serve gives a hint - Nole has a pretty damn good serve and is very consistent in producing it; while Andy has an even better serve, on rare occasions it actually works

Their game is just the same difference - Nole is consistently dangerous, making great shots all the time and doesn't drop his level out of the blue. On the other hand, Andy is wild and unpredictable; he will make 3 crappy UEs and then hit something completely unbelievable, like that ridiculously awesome round-house FH on a Nole's lob  someone already mentioned.

Anyway, nice job there Nole steamrolling over a fellow promising youngster... really wonder how he will fare against Nadal
