Nadal vs. Djokovic who will win???

Any opinions?

Djokovic is a great player, but I still think Nadal can out-rally him and play better overall.

What do you guys think?

Lol, jumping the gun a little bit here don't ya think!

Murray may be injured, but at least wait a few hours until the match ends before hypothesising because if Dorkovic wins, then it won't be a hypothetical final any longer, it will be a reality.

Well if you watch the incident again, you'll see how far the ankle bends. The only thing that saved his ankle from breaking was the fact that his momentum took in the proper direction. So because of it, it's probably a sprain more than anything. Also when he comes up, he has a pretty big cut below the knee. So in all honesty I don't see how there was any faking being done. The fact that the cut was there, shows he had a pretty good fall, while you see the ankle bend severely under him.

Therefore no faking being done on Muzza's part. However the bigger problem was how it was when he woke up this morning, was it stiff, swollen, or did he have a lucky escape & manage to run it off over the course of the rest of the match.

I'd personally say that it's probably stiff & sore, so that must surely make Dorko the favourite. Although if Muzza's mobility is slightly restricted, then it may force him to be more aggressive. Guess it's only a matter of wait & see!

We could shift gears a little and ask, "Which of the two babies might give Nadal more trouble?"

I was watching and I've rolled my ankle just like that a bunch of times, and I can tell you from firsthand experience that i didnt think it was a big deal at all until the next day. When the joint is still active and warm it doesnt hurt as much but once it has had time to cool, like after a night's rest, it becomes 100% more problematic. So although I have recently become a huge fan of Murray, I somewhat doubt his ability to come through against Djokovic tonight.

In truth, probably none here at IW. Murray could have done it at the AO but self-destructed. Don't think Dorko has played him before.

Murray was injured in the match vs Haas, played for nearly 3 hours. Then again tonight. So if he did make it to the final, there is no way I can see him being able to take out Nadal. Not only with the injury, but fitness wise as well. In that last match he looked too fresh. While Murray will probably be leg weary & dragging his heels tonight.

If Nadal was off form, then Dorko may have had a chance, but in truth, I don't even see him taking a set off Nadal given the way he played tonight should he get to the final.

Most likely, Haas would have probably had a bigger chance for me than Murray or Djokovic would. So can't honestly see either causing him too many probs in the final!

If Nadal plays anything like he did today, Djokovic wouldn't give him much trouble. And even if Nadal doesn't play that well I just don't see Djokovic winning. It could get really close though.

I don't see Djoko causing Rafa any problems if he gets to the final. I doubt Andy would be too difficult either if he wins tonight. Rafa is just playing too well at the moment.

Sure, it looked like it hurt at first. And I'm not saying it didn't bother him. But he was CLEARLY playing up the injured player drama. During points, he was moving fine and afterwards would quickly remember he was supposed to be injured. At one point, he hit a hard forehand (I think off a return, it definately wasn't after a strenuous rally), waited to see if it went in (it did), and quickly slumped down and started limping with a painful face (as if he forgot he cue for a second).

surprised so many people think Nole can beat Rafa -- doesn't have the weapons nor the experience in a big final... nor did he have any tough matches to rough him up before he meets the macho Manacorian...

I give it to Rafa and yes that is partly because I am a fan. I haven't seen the Andy/Nole match yet but will see it sometime before tomorrow's match.

I do no think it will be easy or straight sets. I think there are similarities in their games: the aggression and hard-hitting. There are also differences: Nole is more relaxed and fluid; Rafa is more intense and explosive. Funny to think of Rafa, at 20, being the senior guy to Nole at 19.

I expect a great match. I don't think Nole will get tired out. Nor will Rafa. I think it will be an exciting encounter between two young, fit, hungry opponents.

Assuming it is a 5-setter: Nole, Rafa, Nole, Rafa, Rafa--the whole nailchewing tamale.

based on further reading, at the moment no one seems to know whether it is 3 or 5 sets. If it's 3 then Nole Rafa Rafa.

Havent seen Nole play enough to know his style. In order to beat Nadal, he will have to play agressive, first strike tennis, hit flat strokes and finish points off at the net. If he can do this he might have a chance.

From the little i have seen of him, Nole plays with quite a bit of topspin, moves quite well, can be aggressive at times, but doesnt volley that well.. If he plays that type of game against Nadal, Nadal should win since he is the better mover and more consistent off the ground.

It should be an intesting match though and hopefully there will be some good tennis.

Look now let's keep this about tennis. O.k yes, I'm sure he could probably find a way to get on top of Nadal, in fact Rafa might actually welcome it, um.

But I think the thread was started to find out who people thought would win in this match up. Not to serve as some sick fan fick for tennis pervs. Let's get it together here folks, I'm sure the mods won't tolerate this type of behavior much longer, and well they shouldn't.

Djokovic has big strokes on both sides and a good serve. He is also a consistent clean hitter of the ball rather than someone just hitting the leather off it and missing half the time. I think it will be a close match but I do think Nadal will win.

I didn't mean that he doesn't have weapons at all but he just doesn't have ability or power to make many winners , comparing Murray is different story Murray had ideal Gameplan and I agree that Djokovic has better strokes but when Murray 1st serve is much better and he has better touch especially at net.
Djokovic is great player but he doesn't have winning shots and when we look at Nadals results he is losing mainly to players with powerfull strokes who can make many winenrs and really punish Rafa - Blake, Federer, Berdych, Youzhny , Goznalez.

Nadal won't take any prisoners. His first Final since last July is a chance to reassert himself, send out a message of his prowess on hard courts, and the IW title will be quite a coup. He's also experienced in this type of occasion and has played Djokovic before.

He'll take it in 3 sets, with a break or two in each.

Uh I'm nervous, oh why am i nervous. you all are making me nervous, stop it.

I have the same problem that I've always had, I do think that Rafi can beat anyone if he is playing his best, but he has a tendency to blow it for himself sometimes. So I really need rafa to be on his game today.

I've never seen Nole play before so, I hope he doesn't shock me out there.

I hope it's the same scoreline as before with rafa murdering him in a easy 2, to prepare him for Miami and the roasters.

Vamosss rafa

After that fully convincing demonstration of Ultimate BALLET TENNIS yesterday, I feel secure enough to predict Rafa in THREE.

I see there are still people around here who don't know that the IW final is a best-of-five?

The more confident people are the more nervous I get. I'm sure he can if he serves like he did yesterday, and make maybe a few less errors, and play the net a little more. O.k I'm being picky but, nothing is ever set in stone and I'm getting more nervous just thinking about it.

well so many different opinions and so many people sure of themselves but i dnt think nadal will blow this. Yea he blew a few matches in the past year but if someones gonna break down its Nole. Nole isnt as flat and powerful as berdych and blake and i see a match going the way it did against roddick although i do want to see a close 5 setter..

Yeah maybe for Nole, I just don't see rafa getting to rattle with nerves over IW title. He might get a little excited but overall I think he does well with pression lol. But he's not know to be a choker, so I don't think nerves will be a factor for him, it's more his concentration. He's been known to be a little ADD at times.

Rafa wtf are thinking about out there

Are you serious? I'm just hoping it will be more competitive than the Roddick match was, but Nadal will still win comfortably.

I think Nole can hit winners off both sides unlike Roddick and he is usually inside the baseline instead of 10 feet outside so it will be much more competitive match

Rafa in 4.

I want Rafa to win this puppy so he skips Miami and rests before clay season.

I can't imagine he'd skip Miami. He stands to gain a lot of points there even just getting to the quarterfinals or so and he's probably really going to want a little bit of a cushion considering he's entering a stretch in which he has absolutely nothing to gain (points-wise).

If Nole is at the very top of his game he can win. Nadal still isn't playing that great, whatever his results. If Nole can keep up a high % of 1st serve and dominate from the baseline, he's capable of winning.

Having said that, I expect Rafa will be too good for him today....6-3 7-6 or something.

In other news, dancing Rasta is on his way to the final, one more match and he can stop dancing :rocker2:

I don't think it is in Novak's character to just be happy to be in the final. I am sure he will come out in a very competative mood. And I imagine that Rafa will be very, very hungry for another title so I am hoping it will be a good match.

Well- at least he has had good training in case they ever do a remake of They Shoot Horses, Don't They? - a fantastic move about dance marathons.

In tennis the term major is another word used for a Grand Slam. However, the word major is, in wider use, a description for something of importance. This makes a AMS a major title in that it is of great importance in the tennis world. It is simply a mix up, nobody is right or wrong.
