Watch out Andy or Tommy, Djoko is on the wave

Brilliant display by Nole, except some ducks. Great tactics, FH variety amazing, fair serving skills, and the backhand is more than decent. David fought well, but he couldn't do much damage

Novak started the match absolutely on fire. The errors crept in toward the end. Absolutely appalling at the net today, but still a good display :D

Ferrer wasn't the same as He used to be on court today, Of course that was 'cause of Djoko but anyway, He needed more consistency in his shots.

As for Djoko, nothing to say, Oh yeah, How could He net those balls at the net  and Congrats

result never in doubt, ferrer cant beat a good player on hard court... djokovic played well but he still had some dumb shot and bad stretches, he cant afford to have those next round...

Just a few mistakes. Very entertaining.

They said he was working on his volley with 1/2 of the Woodies (don't remember which). It looked like something that had recently been taken apart and not put back together yet.

B+ performance for the :baby: . Nice to see some serious bombs when serving for the match.

won't be so sure about that. Nole tends to be extremely erratic, Haas doesn't seem to know how to play against Nadal and he can lose to A-Rod as well. But it's good for tennis that one of them will appear in the final

Expected result. Ferrer is a pretty limited player and relies on the other player to play bad to win.

Djokovic has had a real easy draw. Ginepri, Korolev, Bennetaeu and Ferrer. Be interested to see how he does when he plays a good player.

Good performance from Nole :yeah: Lets be honest though - if he hadn't got to the semi with the way his quarter had been decimated he would have been as well giving up because he'll never get an easier ride in an AMS event. Still, you can only beat who is in front of you and he has done it incredibly impressively.

Now hopefully Andy will find a way past Haas tonight and we can have a Nole/Andy semi.

I know we have quite the Novak lovefest here, but, as usual with his matches, something happens that annoys me to no end. During the first set (end of it), Novak tried to fool the linesman and umpires into calling a shot a shot in his favor. David challenged the call, and was found to be correct. A truly cheap attempt to cheat...plain and simple...And for someone of his talent, totally unnecessary. I know he is friends with the King of Flopping in the NBA (Divac...another player who relied on acting rather than skill to play defense), but come on...

And do we really need to have Novak's coach stand up and cheer in his box?  But then again, given his past comments and actions, what can one expect?

I think you're being a bit harsh. Djokovic is a very talented player and sure, he does some stupid things sometimes that is a bit unsporting but not so much now. Is the point you're talking about when Ferrer broke him back in the first and Nole was arguing that the point should have been replayed instead of awarded to Ferrer because he was there when the call was made? I actually thought that Nole was kinda right there - but I do like him so maybe I was more inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt but I did think he was there in time to play the ball and he might have played it if the call hadn't been made.

The linesman seemed to be influenced by Novak's lack of reaction. The right call was made. I don't see any evil intent on anyone's part.

I didn't follow tennis when Courier played so I don't know his style and it's not fair to anyone to compare different eras so to speak even by a decade or so . If we compare , let's do it to contemporary players playing in this era

You're right but it is obvious the people instinctively comparing active players to retired players. Certainly Federer's career is similar to Sampras' career... I've compared Djokovic to Lendl because they both from central-Europe, Djokovic like Lendl plays more from the baseline, didn't win the Major before 20 and plays much worse on the grass courts. Moreover Djokovic seems very strong mentally what was the Lendl's domain.

Clearly you've not seen Andy Murray play when he's in dropshot mode. ;) Thankfully Nole isn't quite that bad (in fairness, Andy's improved there as well) but the drop is good when it works, but still way too low percentage for these guys to use as much as they do.

I don't like Djoko at all and as you can guess I like Ferrer a lot, but I have to say Nole was playing very well and has been playing real good for a while now. None the less David never settled in the match, probably due to Djokovic, but still not the usual fighting.

Saying that David beating Nole would be an upset is a little  to me. Seeing as their rankings aren't that far apart and Djoko might be the new golden boy but Ferrer is the more experienced player.:)

Regarding the challenged call by Ferrer where Djoko was protesting, I think he was pulling a fast one, but I can understand his protesting. He did get broken in that point. One would be a little upset.
