JC saved 3 mps in the second set!

Ferrero 12th time in his career won match after saving MP. This is one of the best record from active players...

Now this is a better thread title!!!

What a fight! Hopefully, TTC will show a delay of the match after the Rafa v. Verdasco! Especially the second set TB!

I know I would hate it if somebody jinxed one of my favourite players. :tape:
Sorry to all Acasuso fans. :o
I'm an idiot.

Thank-you mods for deleting that thread so quickly.

I was sure he would lose in the tiebreak, but he fought well. Potential match with Nadal now.

Chucho :o I followed until the 2nd set tiebreak, it seemed he would win that match but he couldn't convert on his matchpoints in the 3rd set.

Blew 3 mps and one on serve that was an Acasuchoke.

Thanks for the jinx Jiminik, you should wait until the match is over before making threads.

Now this match is more encouraging than other recent results, it's showing a stronger mentality for JC that's been lacking for quite some time.

Ferrero showed heart in this match! :hatoff: Congrats

In 1st set, Chucho played awesome, winning 100% of his 1st serve points; Ferrero didn't do it thaaat bad but Chucho was the best player in the set.

In the 2nd, Ferrero knew He had to take care of his serve and started to play with more confidence, and Chucho fell apart, Ferrero even had 5-3 serving but a baaad game allowed Acasuso to be back at serving, although from that moment Acasuso never believed He was doing good [no confidence or what]. Then again, Ferrero had a 0-40 in Acasusos serve at 6-5 but failed to convert just 'cause Chucho hit some great serves.
In the TB everything went to Acasuso and Ferrero went down **2-5, and started to fight every point, saved 2 MPs and after a couple of exchanges of points Ferrero won the set, and the match changed 100%.

After that Ferrero's confidence helped him to get the break and Acasuso started to play the points very fast which affected him and made him hit lots of UEs. At the end Ferrero raised his game and played great tennis.

Congrats both, very entertaining match!

That's the problem with Chucho, this was stops him from going further than he has. He had mps on his serve, he shouldn't be losing it on his serve, but Ferrero got the W that's what counts at the end.

Ferrero is getting back to his oldself. If he can get by Nadal the draw really opens up. It would be funny is Ferrero was in the last 2 Masters Series finals in the US

Well, you would have to say his return to the top of the rankings *as in at least Top 15* is looking more realistic than it is for Lleyton Hewitt or Marat Safin.

:haha: :haha:

I feel sorry for you and your narrow-minded mentality but you're just too funny :haha:  :haha:

At least with this post you show your true colors... you're just another xenophobe (towards argentinians)

I still like Croatia  ... it's great for such a small country to have two world-class players and Cilic up-and-coming :hatoff:, even if they're not my favorites. With time you'll mature and learn not to hate entire countries and see the good and bad in them. :wavey:

It really looks like he is. If you look at all his results this year (except Auckland and Aus Open, he played like crap in the Aus Open, I was there and honestly it was just a disaster against Udomchoke.) but after the AO he's been on fire. He's had a final, semi-final appearance, should have been a quarter final appearance in BsAs, and now at least a 4th round at Indian Wells of all places. To me, thats pretty impressive.

He was clearly the better player during the first two sets and should have won in straight sets. After losing that TB there was only one possible outcome.

Must be something in the name Ferrer or Ferrero that does something to him.

So pleased he turned that around - he wasn't playing badly but Chucho just seemed to have an answer for everything, right until the end of the second set.

I thought he was going out so I'm really happy he's still in. Now, can he hurt Nadal again?

i dislike ferrero and hope he does not enjoy a resurgence to anywhere near the top of tennis. he is a very arrogant man with a boring workmanlike game and seems to attract only teenybopper fans to the game of tennis with his looks. he is bad for the game of tennis and i am always unhappy to see him win.

Combined he saved 9mps twice.

Against Berasategui (Hamburg '98) & Portas (Palermo '01) :) Also 4 MP's against Ginepri (Rome '04). 22 MP's in 3 matches, Ferrero saved 24 MP's in 12 matches :D
Of course Mantilla won more than those three matches after saving MP in his career...

It was not a choke of the same order of magnitude as in Stuttgart but watching the first two sets you would not imagine Chucho losing this match.
