Now Argentina in real trouble... Calleri becomes #1, and who's gonna be #2??

and who's gonna be #2

we still don't know.. luza hasn't decided yet.

He have Monaco, Calleri and Arnold by the minute.. we don't know who's gonna replace coria.

But i dunno, i have a huge faith on our Argentinean team. Calleri's been playing an awesome tennis (when he stays regular) and also does Mónaco. And Calleri and Arnold make an awesome doubles team.
Besides, Belarus hasn't got an AWESOME team (as i said in another threat).. they just have mynri (or however his surname is)... so i guess we still have a little chance

I read in a Brazil site that Calleri and Monaco will play singles and Calleri and Arnold for doubles though I'm not sure the source's reliability. Both Chela and Canas had turned down to play.

They should still have a good chance. ;) There only good player that i know of is Mirnyi. Ah, if only David would get better, i'd like their chances so much more

But I heard that David wouldn't play either.
And do you know who will be in place of Coria?

but i expect that he (mirnyi) will play all the matches and then if he wins them then they have 3 ties and win... this is what GB do when greg can't play.
Its such a shame about nalbandian and coria!!

Cañas is going to Belarus right now...He's still in pain, but is gonna try to play. They're not sure if he'll play doubles with Arnold or singles, they'll see how he's doing and decide later.
And Coria said that he's a little scared cause he doesn't know exactly what he has, he even found blood in his urine...

far out...that would be a major blow to the clay season competition. Is all this related to his back problem from Miami??? Also, (excuse my ignorance...I'm not a huge follower of Argentinian tennis so I don't know who is getting along with whom) but why don't they ever put Etlis and Rodríguez in the doubles? Have they had a falling out with the captain or something?

Well, the Argentina's coach (Luza) tries to choose 3 singles players and one for doubles. He always chooses Arnold and Calleri to play in doubles with him, they have experience playing together, and just in case he needs a single player he can count on him. It makes sense, if you think about it. Some players have problems with Luza, like Chela...
Coria's problems against Roddick in Miami weren't a back problem as he thought, it was a renal problem and they're still trying to find out what he has exactly, so they don't know for sure how long he'll be out of the circuit. I heard Coria in an interview last night and he seemed very worried and he even said that was scared when he discovered he had blood in his urine...

So it is for sure a kidney problem?

I hope it is just stones.

But when he said the pain was excruciating and came from nothing, it makes sense. It's very painful indeed and I know people who have passed out from the pain of kidney stones. This may have been the source of his "back" problems that he had been experiencing lately.

Well, Guillermo was touching in the kidney area, so it makes sense. He also said that two hours after the match he started to feel worse and had to be rushed to the hospita. I hope it's nothing serious and gets better soon.
And as for Cañas I agree, Chela should learn from him.

yes, star, sources say that blood was found in his urine. Maybe this stone was big enough to cause significant problems.

Really, if it is kidney stones, it is good news. I mean it's dreadfully painful but now they have excellent ways of breaking up stones and getting them to pass. And once the problem is cleared, there isn't any recovery time.

It's much much better than a herniated disc.

Canás is a big fighter and I´m sure he´ll give everything. But I hope he doesn´t aggravate his injury because of his effort. He´s been away for so long because of injury himself..

I think Canas should be kept in reserve for the 5th rubber, in case it will decide the tie. There's no reason to risk him against Mirnyi on day 1.

Renal problems are serious & could jepordize an athletes career. As with the Kiwi Rugby player, Jomo (sp?). I hope that's not the case with Coria.

Renal disfunction is a serious problem, but kidney stones by themselves are painful and debilitating but can be cured with no lasting affect.

I can't believe Guille played over two whole sets with this pain. I've seen people in pain from kidney stones and they've been barely able to move. I had to drive a co-worker to the hospital one day.

I the effort that Willy Cañas is doing's amazing. He's a total fighter, so i think he'll do well in the DC.. i hope his injure doesn't get worst.

Chela.. well it's obvious that he hasn't got a very good relationship with Luza.. i mean, luza could have asked chela if he wanted to play the DC again cuz he wasn't injured or anyhing and maybe he could have accepted more easily.. but instead of that he choose Cañas.. so i think it's pretty obvious the reason why chela's not gonna play.

And Coria.. oh well i just hope he gets better soon and that it's nothing too serious..

I thought someone posted that Luza called Chela first, but Chela declined. Luza then went to the injured Canas.

That makes sense to me that Luza would go to the uninjured player first. Otherwise he is a Luzanitic. ;)

Yes Star - that is the order he called them when David withdrew, and when they both said no he had to turn to young Juan Monaco. But then when Coria was also injured he had to look around again - Chela had already said a resounding "no", so it just had to be Canas next. And I'm not even going to begin to get involved in the "internal politics" which make him call up an injured man before people like Gaudio and Zabaleta

Haha poor zabaleta! he's such a good player.. it's not his fault that he always gets injured for or in the DC lol.
But thank god he didn't choose Gaudio! no comments

Well yeah, i watched him play in the atp of buenos aires, the match against Moya.. he played so well! Everyone there cheering for him, it looked like a football stadium! lol

Anyways.. i have good news about Coria :)

Here's an articule i took from espn's website (http://espndeportes.espn.go.com/story?id=223732)
Sorry for the transcription!

The tennis player Guillermo Coria "didn't go to belarus because of having a little stone in the kidney" which is not as dangerous as if he had a herniated disc.
That's what Coria's coach, Fabián Blenchino, said today and he also added that Coria wanted to play the DC, at least the last single.
Anyways, the doctors told him to rest untill they found which was the cause of the problem.
"He was holding his back, he couldn't walk or sit. We went to Miami's hospital and the doctors there told us the options. Thankfully the herniate disc is discarded. That was what worried us the most.", said Blenchino.
Finally he said that the injury, which was caused by a calculo renal (i dunno how to say it in english), started "after he served" against Roddick.

Well that'd be a summary of the article. Thankfully it's just a little stone in the kidney :)
