UEFA Champions League draw!

This champions league looks as exciting as every other one. One remark though, quite a few teams managed to pass on the "away goals rule". Bayern Munich, Valencia and Liverpool all won this way. Although I do not want to take merit away from these teams, it does make me wonder wether this rule is actually fair.

Anyway, enough of the babling, the draw for the 2007 Uefa Champions league quarter finals is as follows:

Milan vs Bayern Munich

PSV Eindhoven vs Liverpool

Roma vs Machester United

and

Chelsea vs Valencia

I predict that Milan, Liverpool, Man U., and Valencia will make the semis.

Regardless of what happens, they should be exciting quarter final matches.

Man U to win theirs.
Liverpool to take theirs.

Coin toss between Bayern and Milan.

Quarter Final Draw:
1st Legs - April 3/4 | 2nd Legs - April 10/11

QF1 - AC Milan vs. Bayern Munich
expect a tough battle in this one, not too many goals either, again Bayern have the advantage of playing the second tie at home
Ancelotti is happy to play the Germans, though he admits its a tough task seeing how they turned around the tie against Real Madrid

QF2 - PSV Eindhoven vs. Liverpool
PSV coach Koemanw as disappointed to be playing the Liverpool , since they already played each other in the group stages. I personally think its a good tie for Liverpool. I dont agree though that the english teams should be kept apart in this round.

QF3 - AS Roma vs. Manchester United
I was one of those who thought Lyon might be the darkhorses to reach the semifinal even have a crack at the top prize. Their draw was favorable too, playing Roma, who in all honesty were novice in this competition, with a small squad & little experience compared to other Italian teams.
I think Lyon lost this tie, when they dominated the first leg in Stadio Olimpico & failed to score, but to lose at home in Europe hasnt happened to them, yet they let themselves down, with poor defending & lame finish in front of goal. Roma were surely impressive.
Hope Manchester's luck runs out, they have won 3 matches on the trot despite not being the better team.

QF4 - Chelsea vs. Valencia
This for me is the tie to watch. Valencia will relish playing the second leg at home. They will go to Stanford Bridge will less pressure & try to wrestle the midfield from Chelsea & have great attacking players in David Villa & Morientes who can finsh off good moves.
Losing Baraja may be a blow to Valencia, but the emergence of DAvid Silva this season has lessened the impact of his injury. Hugo Viana did well when he entered in the Inter match. Chelsea were lucky against Porto & were nt playing so well.

As long as Bayern gets kicked out everything is fine with me. I'd be happy for Liverpool and Valencia if they won and I can't wait to see Man Utd-Roma :rocker2:

I agree with you, the away goals rule should only count after extra time, so that penalties is the last resort. This would be slightly better as teams have another 30 minutes to gain advantage when the aggregate score is still level. It doesnt seem that fair that a team qualifies just for drawing 1-1 away and 0-0 at home, for example.

I disagree completely. Either they shouldn't have it at all, or it should count but not after extra time. Having it count after extra time gives the team that plays away second a better chance of winning.

Away goals is a complicated issue.

It's controversial. But so are so many things in football controversial too.

However, Inter lost, because they tied...It makes more sense to win on overall goals.

It's looking good for Man U. right now. I'd like to seem them win this thing.
I also hope Valencia defeats Chelsea, because as a Man U. fan, I make it my duty to hate Chelsea.

I find it so satisfying that everyone hates Chelsea.

It makes it even more sweet when we beat all these foreign scum teams.

Yes like PSV in the semi-final, your feeder team :) How convenient :)

It's still better than penalties...

well Milan is been kicking Bayrn┤s ass regulary recently so it┤s not a bad draw

I dont predict Milan┤s match so in the other 3 I expect Liverpool, UTD and Chelsea to go through
