Tommy Haas will pick up points at Miami(3rd rd 06) IW ( 4th rd 06) Toronto ( 2nd rd 06) Cinci ( 3rd rd 06) All of them on Hard courts so he will pick up a lot more points. He is not the best on clay but he has no points to defend at Monte carlo, Rome or Hamburg so if anything he will pick up a few points. Only 3rd round points to defend at wimby,If anyting he will do better this year! US open he will probs make QF therefore defending his points, so reality is barring Injury The talented Tommy will finish top 5!!!! Views????

Haas looked top 5 in Memphis.

much more in fact ;)

I think he can make Top5 till the end of 2007, but you never know with him getting injured for a longer term again maybe

AND he has to keep playing the way he does now, won't be easy

He'll need to have decent results in the clay season and a good showing at Wimbledon.

He will pick up a few points in the clay super 9s and thier is no reason why he can't make the QF at wimby!!! He can play on clay remember he made the final of Rome before!!!!

Yes I agree that Haas is so wonderful this season. If he keeps on playing like this I think he will be the first player to beat Federer in 2007 (in Dubai).

Well he's certainly playing top 5 tennis at the moment, but we're only in March! Will be interesting to see if he can keep it up throughout the year on all surfaces. Whether he finishes at top five or not depends upon this, but also other players as well, as there are a few guys I think will be fighting to get in there. I'll certainly be surprised if he doesn't finish in the top ten.

He's playing wonderfully so far this season, if he keeps it up I see no reason why top 5 is out of his reach!

He's playing good, but your getting ahead of yourself a bit, the only player to have those kind of consistent results all year are fed and haas has yet to show that side of his game.

Someone trying to make a late run for Bandwagon Player of the Month for February.

Does look that way but it's still early and the players ranked 3-8 can often be very close in terms of points gained so a poor clay season or an unfortunate injury could stop him for making top 5.

Blah, the man looked like a top5 player last year at this stage too and I was making this kind of predictions back then. The clay season came, and not a lot was discussed afterwards.

Maybe he'll get it together this time around.

(1) Haas usually starts the season impressively, then fades away.

(2) For once, what determines the player's ranking at the end of the season is the points he earns, not the point he does or does not defend.
He may improve on his last year's clay results, but that may not be enough for a top 5 finish.

(3) People talk of Haas as a top 5 player, where in fact he's never finished a season in the top 5.

2) Agreed. I would like to see him improve on his Wimbledon result, but .

3) Well, he had some bad luck during his prime, but yes, it's true. He only ever made the top 8 for TMC once, and that was the year Goran qualified by winning Wimbledon and making the top 20.

This seems a bit presumptious, especially since the season is so long, but as of today, every thing you said seems possible. So yeah Tommy could be in the top 5 by the end of the year. Ljubo, Nalby, and Blake haven't started off as well as they would like. Davy and Robredo are currently struggling. The problem is, who knows who will pick up steam, and Tommy is entering into the clay season, so who knows?

More like 20. Safin will be 10 of them by himself.

Haas just needs to stay mentally strong and positive and he will reach the top 5.

Come on, I'm not a Haas fan but it's a little much to call his fanbase a bandwagon. He's a veteran player with a lot of injury worries in his career. Just because fans come out of hiding when he starts playing well doesn't mean they're ill-informed or fickle, which is what i think of when it comes to bandwagons.
