Dubai Championship US Television Coverage?

Does anyone know if the Dubai Men's Championship will be televised in the US? It begins February 26th.
I have just recently gotten TTC and they showed the Women's Dubai
Open but I do not see the Men's Championship on the schedule, nor can I find it on the cable sports channels. Hopefully I am just missing something.

Thanks.:wavey:

I don't think it will be. I hope so but I cannot find it. They also show Women's final of Memphis but not the men's. They show that silly San jose tourney last week and now Buenos Aires  and the Tennis Channel open next week (cakewalk draw for Blake) I would rather see Rotterdam and Dubai. Also not showing Doha for the women next week :(

There was no play today so y should they start airing it now? There isnt even any tennis on dubai sports channel except for the off court hype.

I agree. The Tennis Channel has been so frustrating!!!!!!!!!! I cannot believe they are showing Las Vegas and not Dubai!! And why show the Women Dubai open and not the men? And why can't they show Las Vegas AND Dubai?

Thanks for the reply. Hopefully we will both be surprised and someone will find it airing on another channel.

I don't think there is anything for Dubai. Eurosport is livestreaming it though so you'll have that.

From what I'm getting, for men's tennis for the US this week, you have Las Vegas on TTC and Acapulco on ESPN Deportes (if you get it - unfortunately I don't get it) and the Acapulco final is also on TTC.

It makes no sense to me. The top two names in men's tennis are in Dubai and I have to watch it on live-streaming? (which always looks crappy, I might add).

utter bullcrap.

The TTC operates the tLV tourney so I guess they are obligated to show the LV tourney. Last year TTC showed the Dubai semi and the final if I remember correctly, hope they do the same this year.

I think americans should write their cable providers and ask that they show more tennis. Directv has a freaking channel for every sport except tennis. I mean the golf channel wtf

Rather than the cable providers, write to the USTA. They need to figure out a way to get tennis on TV in the US. And they are failing miserably.

And live streaming is better than nothing. So if the USTA can't get their act together to get TV on our cable systems, then they need to get live streaming...and inexpensive or free live streaming.

There are so many ways for them to use new media - live streaming, podcasts, on demand video, etc. - and they aren't using it.

Well I have THE TENNIS CHANNEL you would think that would mean they would show a lot of TENNIS, especially the BIG TOURNAMENTS, but I guess not. Don't know what the programming department is thinking!

Well I am obviously very mad. I am glad I have this forum to vent. I have been waiting for Dubai since the Australian Open, so a lot of anger coming out!
Thanks for all the responses.:wavey: At least I know that I did not over look anything.

If you have Dish Network you can order an Arabic international package for $40 USD per month. It includes Dubai Sports channel which I believe is broadcasting the event. But Eurosport is as well so maybe they'll have some of those matches live online?

Mirkaland - looks like eurosport will have live streaming - its on their web site. They don't have a schedule posted yet though. I think it's one of those things where you won't know until that day. But could be wrong.

According to the ES site, livestreaming will start at 2:50 pm CET.

Didn't Tennis Channel show the semis and finals last year?

Last year, TTC showed the Dubai final between Roger and Rafa.

Last year the Tennis Channel didn't air Dubai, but then at the last minute when they saw that the final was going to be Federer v. Nadal they suddenly decided to air it LIVE. I taped it.

For a while the Tennis Channel has been saying that they can't get the rights to this or that foreign tourney or that it's too expensive etc. However, if most of the time we can get coverage via the internet it seems that TTC could be showing these matches. If they can get the rights to show the WTA Dubai then why not the ATP?

TTC really seems to focus on showing all the small WTA tournaments. It gets very boring because they keep on showing repeats of this stuff. They love to follow Mauresmo around and she's not American. So why wouldn't they follow Federer around?

Last year, TTC showed the Dubai final between Roger and Rafa.
But remember it was a special last minute change. They had not been airing the rounds at all. It proves they can air Dubai if they WANT to.

TTC has the rights to show the MS tournaments. They don't show majors. They will show ATP American tournaments like San Jose, Memphis, Las Vegas. Other than that they show most of the WTA tournaments.

They make me very mad. They have message boards were you can complain. I keep forgetting my login though. They don't resend the password most of the time.

TTC has their own tournament in Vegas this week. No way will they show Dubai unless like last year it's a last minute change to show the final if it's Fed/Nadal. I'm sure we won't see any of the women's event in Doha either.

I understand the coverage for all you US people is a TRUE MESS.

Well things aren't exactly *perfect* here in Europe either, but I guess we will be able to see a little more with Eurosport than you guys will.

I feel sad for you, with that awful coverage in the US! What a morons - and they call themselves Tennis Channel??? One would at least expect them to show such a tournament with all the Big Players appearing!

That Tennis Channel must indeed be a joke - one I'm personally not able to laugh about... what a morons!

Well, The Tennis Channel doesn't have much money.

And Vegas is sponsored by...The Tennis Channel.

So obviously they are showing that.

Once clay season starts, they will have more men's tennis.

yep. sigh. They hype it up so much but I remember last year when they were broadcasting the SF and the announcers mentioned the Fed/Nadal result it was painfully obvious they knew the best tennis was played in Dubai not Vegas.

It still is better than nothing. I've learned not to complain too much. Right now, they have little money and spend it on RG, the TMS, and a few small tournaments. They don't own rights to everything out there and can't afford to broadcast some events.

check this site out, you may be able to see the dubai tourney for a little fee.
