Has Monfils a top 10 future?

has Monfils the potencial to be top 10 soon or later?

yes, but he will never reach it.

I don't see Monfils playing tennis past his 25th birthday. So the "later" isn't even a possibility. It has to be soon or never.

No way. Too many players are better than him.

In my view "no" - Monfils is overrated. This man isn't even fast. Blake said last year after defeat to Monfils - "He is the fastest player in this game". I like Blake very much but for me these words are only bullshit :)

:haha: Don't make me laugh
Overrated, but a few dodgey players have made the top 10 in their time and have stayed there a while

Especially when Blake is the fastest player in the game (though doesn't have the anticipation of Andy Murray, Federer types).

Monfils is a very overrated player, I don't think he will get it.

If he can't beat a player who will probably retire next year than i don't think that he is a future top 10 player

Yes,

He looks like a great player, He is not consistent so far. He has to work very hard, then He may has chance to be Top 10 in the future.

He actually has a lot of weapons, but he doesn't use them correctly. If he could learn how to do that then he would definitely have the ability to reach the top 10, IMO.

definitely yes

if Boredo can be a top 10 player then Monfils could too.

Too stubborn and brainless to use his weapons effectively. From things he's said he'd rather be flashy than good. He'd rather play the way he likes than improve and modify his game to maximise it.

While that attitude prevails, he has no hope. Too many other good players around.

he is a good player...but very irregular

They both won his first title in Sopot, Nadal as well. Maybe this is a good omen for Monfils... I don't think so ;)

if he gets a good coach and listens.

No, I sure hope not anyway.

Well he definitely has the most physical talent on the ATP tour so it is likely.

After seeing last year's top 10, I believe anything is possible.

I voted yes cause the guy has talent. Guys with less talent have made it into the top 10 and he's still young. I just wish he would move closer to the baseline rather than play a mile behind it. That silly sliding on hardcourts needs to go.

I'm sure at some point in Monfils career he'll make a run to the top ten but I don't see him being a fixture in it.

He needs a good strategist coach, someone who is good at scouting opponents (ala Brad Gilbert) and giving him a game plan before each match. Not running around hoping on the court spraining ankles like a dumb ass.

Loremaster

Monfils is the biggest joke on Tour after RG he won't be in Top80 for sure (I don't see him getting to SF of Rome and 4th round of RG esepcially without seeding) so it is way down to him.

if he stops being such as idiot on court then maybe, but he will probably get some horrific injury due to his stupid sliding on every surface, which will prematurely end his career

Of course he has a chance, but I don't see it happening.

He is really young and has a big potential so why not, never say never

Burrow
02-25-2007, 10:03 AM
I could say 100% of course, if he had the correct coaching he could be a multiple grand slam winner.

Out of all the youngsters - Berdych, Murray, Gasquet, Baghtadis, Djokovic etc, Monfils is the least likely to do anything. He is a clown.

I believe his ranking will hit top 10 but I don't think he will be a consistent fixture in the top 10.

Of course he can. He's young and has the potential. But he has many things to learn, and so far he hasn't tried.

There is the strong possibility that he never makes it.

Xavidbz

yes, but he will never reach it.

I agree, ;)
