In Asia, definitely Chang!

In Asia obviously Chang would be more respected.

But I believe Chang is more popular than Courier throughout the world.

Chang is one of my favourite players ever, so he gets more respect from me.

Both recieve lots of credit nowadays.

Courier. Better performance at the ones that counted.

4 slams > 1, #1 ranking, that's more than enough for me to say clearly Courier.

Chang made 19 million in career prize money, compared to 14 million for Courier. I'd take money over titles so my vote goes to Chang.

i think more than anything chang had the charm and underdog factor which makes him more popular anyway. he had so many things going against him: asian american, 5'9, 17 when he toppled goliath at the french. Chang's is a very compelling storyline.

I am a Chinese, but I choose Courier.

Courier was better than other Big 4 of American - Sampras, Agassi and Chang before 1993.

Don't forget Courier was 2-year back-to-back Australian Open (92, 93) and Roland Garros (91, 92) winner.

Chang is more famous, by far, but Courier is more respected, 4 slams + number 1

Very strange!

Chang won 7 masters series tournaments, but all in hardcourt.

His only 1 Slam was on clay

Can Chang be regarded as clay expert.

...
Courier was better & the history books will look on him more favourably!!
4-Slams & made the finals at all of them!!
...
However Chang will be remembered as the more likeable player, & certainly he inspired many in Asia [due to his Asian roots, playing style & small stature (yes I know there are many tall people in Asia too @@)]~ despite the fact that he was American!!
...
...
As a player I thought Courier was quite boring, but as a commentator he`s very entertaining & got a cool dry sense of humour...
...
Chang was exciting as a player, but boring in interviews...

>> Kind of ironic how this two are similiar yet complete opposites!!

...
Pity for Chang he never managed to win a 2nd Slam, if he could have done that in the mid-to-late 1990s then his LEGEND would have been cemented [3-finals & no cigars (except for 89 FO)]!!><...

Courier is bringing his tour to where I live in May. Sampras will be playing and I hope Chang is there as well. He played some events last year.

Only confirmed so far are McEnroe, Sampras and Courier. 5 others to be determined.

unquestionably Courier. Chang is an entertaining character but you cant change the history books and valuing a playing because of his charm or his ethinicity (which personally i couldnt give a jot about) is very tabloid.

Courier at his best > Chang at his best (no matter how fast or how much Gatorade) ;)

Chang made 19 million in career prize money, compared to 14 million for Courier. I'd take money over titles so my vote goes to Chang.

I'm sure Oscar Hernandez has earned considerably more prize money than Bill Tilden did. Does that mean he has had a better career? Chang simply played a lot longer than Courier.

I don't know about respect, but Courier had the better tennis playing career, hands down.

Courier also made a Wimbledon final, losing in a pretty competitive match to Sampras in 1993 - 7-6, 7-6, 3-6, 6-3.

And he made the final of every grand slam- something only a select few have accomplished.

One thing interesting:

Before FED-Rafa in 2006, Courier was the last guy who entered Roland Garros-Wimbledon Back-to-back final in the same year (1993), but he lost both.

Actually Agassi was the last one to do it before last year in 1999 winning RG but losing the Wimbledon final to Sampras :)

But respect from whom?, both players had great careers of course Courier had more GS, in my book they are 2 well respected hall of famers( i guess they will induct Chang someday)

Chang is very well respected but Courier has far greater achievements, it is not even close. 4 slams >> 1, #1 ranking and being in the final of all four are superb feats as well.
