Have you ever been to a Major

02-21-2007, 02:51 PM
I went to my first US Open last year (night session), I was checking out the outer courts before taking my seat at Ashe, by the time I got to my seat, Hingis had one foot in the grave already.

The second match was Agassi in his last winning match, it was really really nice, although I would recommend going to the morning session since there are more games being played.

U.S.O only, when I lived in NYC, USA. I went there for many matches, many years, as far as the semi-finales on both tours.

02-21-2007, 03:03 PM
Wimbledon and Roland Garros more times that I care to remember, and definately more years ago than I care to divulge here

USO almost every year.

My dream is to go to RG - I would do almost anything to go there.

02-21-2007, 04:25 PM
Wimbledon 2006, First Tuesday, Centre Court :D

One day..the Grand Slam. Maybe, even (when I'm retired and if, bychance, I'm much richer) a Golden Slam :worship: Now that would be cool!

02-21-2007, 04:25 PM
I went to Roland Garros last April. Just walked around, there was nothing going on. I guess that doesn't qualify as a visit to a major though...

02-21-2007, 04:27 PM
Wimbledon the last 5 years, and making my debut at RG this year :rocker2:

02-21-2007, 04:27 PM
Wimbledon 2004, second Monday.

Roland Garros 2006, all days of qualies + Monday & Tuesday of the first week

02-21-2007, 05:13 PM
Roland Garros last year... and it was great!! Hopefully again some day

02-21-2007, 06:50 PM
US Open 2002 semis (Sampras def. Shalken; Agassi def. Hewitt).

I am going to Indian Wells in a few weeks. I think it will be better than the US Open. The top rated players will all be there, but it will be cheaper and much more convenient. Probably better viewing on the outside courts as well.

02-21-2007, 07:09 PM
Never...the only tennis match I've seen is a Davis Cup doubles match.

02-21-2007, 08:22 PM
Well damn I was so close last year for the USO but alas-New York City was too much of an offer I could not refuse;)

Had a good time and looking forward to going again this year.

02-21-2007, 09:26 PM
I've been to the USO twice and Roland Garros last year :D

Wimbledon will be happening this year.

02-21-2007, 09:41 PM
Oh wow I feel like a spoiled brat. But I had parents that were fans, and most of our family vacations when I was younger went around diffrent tennis events.

I've been to the USO tons of times because I live right next to NY
Wimbledon happened a lot too because I have family over there.
Aussie open 90', 94', 03' 05' great winter vacation.
RG only once in 01'

U r liek a noob.

02-22-2007, 02:34 AM

I've only been to the Canadian open (Montreal), boviously. Would love to go to a major. If I'd have to choose only one, I would probably go to the USO but I wouldn't mind anyone really. Seeing the grass of Wimbledon would be awesome, seeing a clay court match will also be cool, and plus how can you not love the AO :worship:.

02-22-2007, 02:48 AM
Wimbledon 2006 first Monday (rained out :( ) Tuesday and Wednesday

And I'll be at RG this year during the first Monday and Tuesday :D

Wimbledon last year. I got a whole twenty minutes of Gasquet vs Federer on the opening day and an absolute soaking to show for my journey down to London.

Probably going again this year though - although it'll be the outside courts as I didn't get anything on the ballot.

02-23-2007, 01:24 PM
I have been going to the USO since 2000.

I have seen so many great matches & all of the finals but my favorite match was in 2004 quarterfinal Andre vs Roger. It was played over 2 days & I was lucky enough , with only a nosebleed ticket, to sit right on the baseline . Because of the weather (Rain & wind) the fans were invited to sit closer.

Best time to go....qualifing rds. Most of the players there practising & not many fans. Great time to see some great matches & to see the top players up close without the crowds.

02-23-2007, 01:31 PM
I've been to the Aus Open for the last 7 years (sometimes staying right from qualies til the end), and also Roland Garros in 2004

02-23-2007, 01:52 PM
US Open in 2001, 2002 and I'm going again this year. Roland Garros is next on my list (though I'm a little afraid to go, since every time I go to an event, Rafa loses the day before I get there. Sigh.) . In some ways, I actually like the smaller tourneys better. You get better seats and there is better opportunity to run into players. I've been to Toronto and Cincy.

Eventually, I WILL get to every slam. Melbourne and then RG have always been my favorite tournaments, Wimbledon my least favorite (I still want to go though).

02-23-2007, 01:58 PM
US Open since 2000 ( I live in NYC so I'm close)

02-23-2007, 02:06 PM
2006 USO Day 1-3 Day sessions and Day 5 Day session, and I went every day to the Qualifying tournament. It is like my life's goal to make it to Roland Garros someday....

02-23-2007, 02:46 PM
USO almost every year.

Wimbledon 2004.

My first was the USO last year. Rain cancelled the first Friday evening, Saturday, and Saturday evening sessions on the middle weekend. I only saw tennis on Sunday and Sunday evening. I did manage to see Agassi's last match there, amazing, and Federer, Roddick, and Blake.

I'm going to Cincy this year, so hopefully I'll be able to watch Nadal. I've only seen him live once, and that was when he standing across the stadium during the last few points of Agassi's last match.
