I thought he had a good chance, but was obviously somewhat sceptical as to whether he could win from a set down.

MOnflis is a joke and overrated, he plays 15 ft behind the baseline, doesnt really play aggresive and seems to have no idea how to construct a point...

Is very upsetting that Dutch tennis has recently so poor players after years of great achievements. Where are the successors of Krajicek, Haarhuis, Siemerink, Schalken and Verkerk? :( It's tough to belive but this week the best Dutchman (Sluiter) is lower in ATP ranking than the best Polish player (Kubot) :shrug: BTW both countries has only two players in Top 200!

yeah it is terrible but guys like martin and sjeng are injuried for a long time and raemon is often injuried , martin and sjeng belong in the top 50 , sjeng even top 20 in my opinion but he won't come back. Maybe the future is for Dutch tennis with junior world champ thiemo de bakker and other guys like Robin Haase, Igor Sijsling and Jesse Huta Galung. But you never know it with young players, they have potential

van Scheppingen was solid all match , serving really well . His game is very good for indoors . But unfortunatelly he had many injuries .

I like Dennis chances against Mayer but he must be fit like today .

Monfils is overrated and in bad form, Mayer however isn't and I would be very suprised if Dennis would win this one.

Well I wouldn't say dennis hasn't go a chance, did you see the match he played very well , monfils wasn't playing very bad he even got around 20 aces. The last match was on gravel it ahoy certainly isn't gravel, Dennis is dangerous on this kind of courts but definitely Mayer is the favourite to win

I wish people didn't mention Monfils together with the likes of Nadal, Gasquet, Berdych, Djokovic, Murray, Del Potro,... He doesn't belong there and it was proven yet again today.

I can't ever remember hearing this guys name, so well done to him :) Monfils should try and spend more time up on his feet and less on the floor, might play better and have less injuries :rolleyes:

I agree, I never said Dennis hasn't got a chance, he's made the most of his LL spot and I think if he can serve well he can definitely trouble Mayer. It's just there's a big difference playing somebody who's in form and somebody who's woefully out of it

I fully agree. I could never figure out why he's always lumped in with the real up and comings. The press seems to put him in the spotlight as the next greatest thing on those somewhat rare occasions when he wins, especially ESPN.
